Just bought FSC2 and Tiger... should I go Leopard?

This was kind of inspired by the "Upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5" post
Finally got a project that justifies me buying FCS2. I've been using FCE,iLife 5 and older Photoshop on 10.3.9 forever. I never upraded the OS cause everything worked. Now I have to upgrade to run FCS2 .. right? I bought myself Tiger (yes, I know I will have to add all the upgrades) but I'm wondering if there's any value to returning it and getting Leopard? Anyone know how that may affect my other, older apps?
I'm kind of concerned with the Tiger uprade, actually (OK, so I don't take to change easily) simply because my business is small and I like things to run smoothly
Any ideas? Should I just take a deep breath and move on?

I wouldn't jump to leopard or any os on a v1.0 on a work machine...EVER. By the time that other early adopters get through the issues, and apple get 'em fixed. You might be actually tempted to get leopard, but once it's settled down a bit. Apple is great but they are on a tight schedule so things get ...well...how do I say this without getting this post taken down ^^
I'm actually running fcs2 on a tiger quad with all the latest updates and having no problems. I did hear of some issues, but I didn't encounter them and things seem to have been cleaned up now.

You may have a hard drive problem. When I installed Lion, the installer told me that it couldn't complete because the hard drive was failing (or broken, the exact words escape me). Since the HD had been functioning just fine, I took it to the Genius Bar, and found out that yes, the hard drive was slowly dying (bad sectors). I couldn't reboot into Snow Leopard, the installer wouldn't let me and then the drive just wouldn't work at all.
I had to replace my drive and restore from Time Machine. Thankfully, I had Time Machine, and had just done a backup 5 minutes before the crash.

not sure what the problem might be, but you can try the following:
While pressing ALT+CMD on the keyboard, click on the Aperture icon in the dock: Aperture then opens in a special "recovery mode", and you're prompted to choose what kind of repair you need: Repair Permissions / Repair Database / Rebuild Database
Considering the situation, I'd recommend you to try "the "Repair Permissions" option first.
If that isn't enough (and it may well be the case), then go straight for the "Rebuild Database" option; it's a non-destructive opration anyway, but since you've just installed Aperture you shouldn't have anything valuable in the default library...
NOTE: if you do have some pictures in the library, instead, do a backup first! Time Machine is your friend
Another option would be to launch Aperture while keeping only the ALT (option) key pressed: Aperture will ask you what library you want to open, or you can choose to create a new one from scratch.

If the Combo installer did not work (what is the exact error message?), try to download Lion again from the AppStore, or boot into the Lion Recovery Partition:
      OS X: About OS X Recovery
You can also try, to restore the missing framework from your backup.
You need to restore this folder from the System Library:
     /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

How did you buy iWork (no 's', capital 'W')?
If you downloaded the trial version earlier, and have since purchased a serial number, iWork will ask you for the number the first time you launch one of the iWork applications after the trial period ends.
If you bought a retail box, or bought the individual applications through the Mac app store, no serial number is needed, but if any part of the trial version is still installed on your computer, you'll get a request to enter a serial number before proceeding.
In the last case, you must delete all traces of iWork and it's applications (but not the documents that you have created and saved), then reinstall the purchased versions from the DVD or from the app store.
For the simplest and most efficient means of deleting the trial version, go to Yvan Koenig's iDisk, then to:
for_iWork > iWork 09 > uninstall iWork 09.zip
Unzip the file, open with Script Editor and run.

If you mean will you lose the work you've done in the trial version: no, you shouldn't.
Ideally, before you remove the trial version, back up the catalog. Go to Edit menu (in LR), Catalog settings... and click "Show", which will take you to the folder containing the catalog (for Windows, don't know about Mac). Make a note of that folder location, and preferably take a copy somewhere.
When you've installed the CC version (as BKKDon says), if the CC version doesn't open the existing catalog, go to File menu, Open Catalog... and take it to the existing catalog.

Tom is right. Codecs are shared software system-wide ("Core Video"). If you cannot find the option with any software (such as MPEG Streamclip), you won't find it in Compressor or FCPX either. The Quicktime ProRes codecs is part of the FCP menu > "Download Additional Content" you need to make after install FCPX (or Compressor.) These "pro video" codecs are part of all "ProApp" licenses for video related software from Apple (QT7Pro, Motion, Compressor, Final Cut, etc....) [you can also download them here: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1396]
Most articles/tutorials you read by "long time" users are apt to assume the reader has been working with pro-video on Macs since the days of disk installs (like they have). In those days, the installation of those codecs wasn't even really an option (well, it was if you did a custom install - but who *didn't* install all available codecs??), it was automatically installed with the main software. Since the "App Store" venue... things have changed somewhat.
