Just bought Iphone 3GS updated it but cannot activate??

Hi I have recently bought an Iphone 3GS on EBay (advertised as unlocked) I connected it to Itunes and updated it to 6.1.3 now I cannot activate it.
Is there a way I can access the phone at all to get the EIME number as I know that support will ask for that when i contact them.

If you purchased a phone on Ebay advertised as unlocked, then it has probably been jailbroken to unlock it which is why it won't activate.
Not a lot you can do now so think on!

Have you already activated the iPad? That is what the screen is telling you to do - connect to the computer with the supplied cable and run iTunes while connected - and iTunes should guide you through the set up process. If you have already set up the iPad and you are still getting thos screen message - restore your iPad. You must be running iTunes 10.5 on your computer as well.

If you can't restore this way, you will need recovery mode.

If my iPhone 3GS turns on but cannot use the touch screen, could the Processor be the problem?

I recently dropped my iPhone 3GS but cannot use the touch screen. I took to a local repair shop and they tried replacing the digitizer and some other items but still could not get it to work. They advised that the Processor could be the problem. Is this true? If so, can the processor be replaced without losing data? Additionally, my phone has a lock code and when I try to connect it to my desktop to back up, it states that I need to enter my 4 digit pin first, which of course I cannot. Any workarounds here or am I SOL?

Hook the phone to a computer running iTunes and backup to the computer. Copy pictures off the phone manually to the computer.

It was hacked. There is no such thing as an "unlock code" for an iPhone and only the carrier it is locked to can legally authorize unlocking it.
The only thing we can suggest is contact AT&T and find out if it qualifies for a legitimate unlock. It may no longer be possible to successfully process a legitimate unlock, even if it qualifies, depending on the exact nature of the hack.
You'll have to look for help elsewhere.

All I want is a single email address that works - it must be quite a simple process.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

I had a similar problem some time back when I bought one from the store.
I suggest you try and plug it in to a computer with itunes installed and an internet connection on the computer. then you should be fine.

I am assuming you updated to version 5.1.1, not 5.0.1 since no legitimate version of 5.0.1 is available.
Where is this iPhone from and what means did you use to unlock it?

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. Basic troubleshooting steps right out of the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If you've been through ALL the steps and you still have the problem, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

Best solution would be to give or sell it to someone in Mexico who can use it. You can do othing with it if it is locked o Mexican cell carrier.

I bought this cheap from an unknown persons. I have checked it is not in blacklist. And unlocked by apple.

Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.
