Just bought MacBook Pro a few days ago, iPhoto won't open

Whenever I click on the icon, it says that my library needs to be upgraded to work with that version of iPhoto.
Do I have to buy iLife 09 or something for it to work?
I just switched from a PC to a Mac, and I am very confused.

Make sure that your boot drive is selected as the Startup Drive in System Preferences. What you describe is very unusual behavior. If your Startup drive is selected in Preferences, try booting to your Recovery partition (holding down Command and R on startup) and using Disk Utility to verify and, if needed, repair your hard drive.
If this doesn't help, you may have to take your MBP to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

I can't log in at all now as I've forgotten my admin password. A few weeks ago I also changed the password on my husband's new MacBook Pro and again forgot the password. I spoke to someone at Apple and they helped me to reset it within minutes, by restarting the computer holding Command+something else (I can't remember what it was). A black screen with writing came up and I had to type in something like "password" (not sure exactly). Anyway, this was a very quick and efficient process but I didn't write it down unfortunately. Alright, sorry for not having browsed this page a bit more before stating my question. I have just found some other similar topics on this problem. Please don't reply this thread unless there actually is a solution to the problem, because at current time there is not.

This worked for me.
Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Log out/in
If it works, delete the .plist on your desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

Project File made a few days ago now won't open anymore in Premier Pro 8.0

I have been working on a project for several days now, but now it spontaneously stopped opening for no reason. I have the latest version of Premier Pro, the computer hasn't been modified nor used in these days outside working on this project and source files haven't been altered or changed either. Other projects created at the same time open fine. The auto save however didn't work either, our of 20 autosaves the only one that's working is the first save and the 17th save.
Anyone have the same problem or suggestions to fix this?

I am running Word for Mac v 14.2.0 quite happily on my iMac 27" running Maverick 10.9.4.
Possibly it is due to issues with your Retina screen? The obvious first step is to update Word to the latest version.
Virus attacks are not the first guess on a Mac. I have never ever had one nor even been able to locate any malware for well over a decade. Word can harbour Macro viruses but I thought that the Mac version of Word didn't do macros.
Either way this is not the place to get your answers. Pages is not Word. Use Microsft's support forums for their software.

Well of course you won't have iWeb on a new MacBook from this year. iWeb has not shipped on new Macs for a long time now and Apple has not sold iLife through its stores or online for over a year and does not support iWeb any longer.
If you want iWeb now, you will either need to purchase a new copy of iLife or try and find the old install discs from your old Mac and re-install iWeb from that disc. It also depends on what iWeb version you were using too - iWeb 08 or 09? If 08, then this is not compatible with Mavericks which will be running on a new Mac, so you'll need iWeb 09 for this. If you can find your old install discs and they are iWeb 09 then go ahead and use these, but if not, you will have to purchase the iLife 09 or 11 boxed set from Amazon and both of these contain iWeb 09 and you can then install it.
Also, when you set up your new Mac, did you migrate info over? If you had built a website on your old Mac, then you need to data file where all iWeb info is stored and that is called your domain.sites file and you need this file to be transferred if you want your website back again.
Can you get access to thhis file on your old Mac and transfer it? If you can then fine, you can access your website again, but if not, you are out of luck and you'll have to re-build your website from scratch using iWeb.
If you don't have iWeb, then now might be a good time to move forward and look at the many alternatives that are out there such as RapidWeaver, Sandvox, and EverWeb which is billed as an iWeb replacement and is very much like iWeb, but with SEO and the ability to create drop down menus built in (check out http://www.everwebapp.com). Other alternatives also include Flux 4, Freeway Pro and Express and WebAcapella 4.
Have a look and most of these allow you to download free trials so you can try before you buy.

Not sure if that same Application is designed for Mac Os x, Search for Applications on App Store instead of iTunes on your Macbook Pro, as Applications available on iTunes Store on a Macbook is designed to work only on iOS Device like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and whatever is available on App Store on Mac is designed for Mac Os x.
