I just bought a MacBook Pro in the US and I was wondering what I need to charge it in Spain, do I just need to put the USB in the regular iPhone charger or do I need anything special?
For Mac: Just a pin converter for your charger.
For iPhone: connect to your Mac or use the pin converter and charge using the wall power adapter. -
I just bought my macbook pro 2 weeks ago and have noticed that when I go to start it up, it takes longer to power up than when I first bought it. Does anyone know why this may be and of a fix for it?
Hi. It could be that the more you pile on the HD, the longer it will take to boot. When I first bought my MBP, it took maybe 30 seconds. But as I began putting more content on the HD, it seemed to take a bit longer to boot. You may also want to consider putting your MBP in sleep mode. That's what I do with mine and it doesn't hurt at all as far as I can tell.

i just bought a macbook air 3 weeks ago and now they have an upgrade. is there anyway for me to trade up?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's possible to return the computer during the first 14 days, but now you can't return the MacBook Air. You can sell your computer and get a new MacBook -
My problem started when system preferences was unresponsive and would not force quit. I tryed to restart and got the grey screen, but it never restarted. I closed the lid and now the screen is blank. Has anyone had a similar problem after Lion installation?
No, as I have yet to be convinced on Lion.
Did a permissions repair help from the install DVD? -
Closed the lid and now it won't turn on or wake up
I have a g3 duel usb ibook the white one. and it was up and running fine and then i closed the lid and when i came home the next day and opened it. it did not wake up and would not power on. i have had this issue before and have tried many things to fix it. last time i left it unpluged for like a week then i tried it one day and it just started up. any ideals on what the problem is?
OK It's exactly like the machine I'm on right now if it's a 14" one.
The reed switch is in the display about 1/3 the way up on the right side as you're looking at it. The actuator magnet is to the right of the keyboard on a line with the lower edge of the delete key. Verify it's position with a piece of magnetic (ferrous) metal. I'm using the lever arm of a nail clipper. Now on mine if I cover that magnet with a piece of tin the iBook won't go to sleep if I close the lid. I'm using the lid insert of a Ball Mason jar and placing it tangent to the edge of the keyboard on the line of the lower edge of the delete key.
Now if yours is like this and this solves your problem you can follow the instructions here:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/
and remove the top case and pull that magnet out. Otherwise you could replace the reed switch. Don't attempt the upper case removal if you're not confident around those tiny connectors and screws. I damaged a power connector doing this on a 12" 500.
Good Luck.

Just bought a Macbook Pro 13" 2.3 GHz, now what do I need?
Just bought the Macbook Pro 13" 2.3 GHz, now what software or downloads do I need to add. I am a college student at UW Madison and I will be using my macbook everyday for studying, writing papers, listening to music, surfing the internet, etc. Any suggestions?
Hi w,
Good school.
You'll definitely need something to open/create Office documents. Check with school, they have either a free or very cheap student version available, or there are other third party versions available.
Download/install Flash, Flip4Mac, Perian, VLC.
Run Software Update (in Apple menu).
I prefer Firefox to Safari, but that's subjective. You may want to download at and see for yourself.
Learn how to use everything you can now, as your time will likely become precious once classes begin.
Good luck to you. -
it says name which is "owner"
then it ask for a password? I have no idea what that could beWas the box sealed when you took the MacBook home? If it wasn't, I would return it.
Also, check the Service and Suport Coverage on the Apple site. See if the MB has been registered and if so, the date. -
I just bought a Macbook pro with renal display and it failed.
I just got home from the local Apple store with my new Macbook but within 15 minutes of startup the renal screen failed. Is this a common problem?
No - take it back to the Apple Store and have them take a look at it. WIthin 14 days of purchase you can choose to exchange for another machine or get a full refund.

I just bought a MacBook Pro (late 2008)
I just bought a MacBook Pro (late 2008) Online and I checked and it's registered already. Is there a way I could register it with my name and info?
The previous owner would need to transfer that to you, did it also come with extended Applecare Warranty (3 years from purchase date) and was that transferred into your name ?

I've just bought a MacBook Pro The system won't recognise the serial number which I've copied very carefully several times from the underside of the computer
The helpline is closed Any ideas? I don't know what the operating system is - how do I find that out? What are you trying to do?
The operating system can be found by going to the Apple menu and selecting "About this Mac"
Under "Mac OS X" should be the Version 10.6.x, clicking Software Update will update the operating system via the internet. -
I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%. How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?
The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%. This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month. Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it. Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly. -
I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?
On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out." Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.) Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.
Hope this helps.
