Just Bought New Internal HD and Trying to Use CCC

I just recently had bought a new Seagate 500gb 7200 HD. I have it already installed in the enclosure and hooked up to my computer via firewire 800 and already have Carbon Copy Cloner installed and working as well. When I go to use CCC the drive doesn't show up. I guess that means I have to format first right?
In the device manager window that comes up when you choose to initalize, I chose the drive and then I went to partition and then did the drop down to 1 partition. Then under options, you can choose a partition scheme, so I read all 3 options. The default selection is "Apple Partition Map" but it seems like I should choose the first one listed which is "GUID partition Table".
Which one am I supposed to go with?
Also is there any other things I have to select or do after that to clone the drive?

Also after I completed the clone I then attempted to do the boot from the external enclosure and I held the option key until the choice came up to choose between drives. I chose the external and it booted up fine, but it doesn't show that you have booted up the external it was like it booted up from the internal still. I mean I'm saying this because I did "Apple I" on the HD Icon and it showed the internal info. But wait I guess that's right, correct? I mean it booted up fine and I'm writing this reply now.....

Be careful - there's a difference between update and upgrade. Your machine is saying there are no updates available, meaning no later versions of OS X 10.5 (Leopard). However, you can very likely upgrade - at least to OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and possibly then to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
Updates are free, but upgrades cost a bit. That's the dirference.

On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out." Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.) Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.

I just bought my first Mac computer a week ago, but i'm having a little trouble using iMovieHD - with the latest update, but i'm having trouble importing an mpeg2 in so that I can edit and do other things with it. I did purchase the mpeg2 componet from Apple, so it does play with Quicktime - also, when I go to import it - the import box comes down, and then goes right back up dissapears - the first time it said "Quicktime couldn't parse it" - whatever that means. Can iMovie not import mpeg2's? or am I doing something wrong? also, when I go to create a project - should I choose "dv" video type?

thanks! I just found that application. it's working fine now - but it made my clip into a widescreen clip - I chose "DV" when I started iMovie - also, I chose "DV" to convert the mpeg2 - maybe that had something to do with it?

Just bought new MacBook Pro and can't get FCP Studio to load on it. Any Help!

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and I tried to load FCP Studio on it and it says it does not support it. I use FCP Studio 2 and I need to use it as I don't know FCP X. Any suggestions. I currently have FCP Studio 2 on a 2008 Mac Pro with Maverick on it.

Final Cut Studio 2? That's 8 years old...4 OS versions ago. Mavericks doesn't take FCP 7 into account, much less FCP 6. In fact, to even install FCP 6 onto the PREVIOUS OS, Mountain Lion, you had to hack the terminal, or install Pacifist and do some shenanigans to get it to recognize the installer.
In short, it's very difficult to get older, discontinued software to work on new computers with new OSs. If you need to use FCP 6, then you need to stick to older computers and OS's that run it.
It is on your 2008 MBP because, no doubt, you upgraded the OS around the already installed apps. I'm not sure how well it will work.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

How did you move the music? You have to do it in a specific way:

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the whole iTunes folder and all its subfolders and files intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Transfer the contents from the old computer to a new computer. With a few exceptions, i-gadgets are designed to match the content of a device to the content on a computer, not really the other way around. You can move iTunes purchases from a device onto a computer, but no music obtained some other way.

You would really have to ask the app developer if there is a way to export the data.
As for adding a printer, you would need to purchase an AirPrint compatible printer and connect it to your wireless network.
