Just bought new PC, now can't manage my iPod Touch without deleting songs.

After buying a new computer, I have just decided to sync my iPod to the computer, however I can't without deleting all my songs.
I have tried other software to connect to my device but they can't detect the device. (Have not updated my ipod in a while, could this be a problem?)
Anyway, is there some way to backup my songs so I can load them up again once my ipod is synced to this computer?

- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- If in the USA you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- To transfer non-Tunes purchased music to the computer yu need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
- Make of backup of  the iPOd by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select backup
- Restore the iPod from that backup
You can also manage music among different computers.  See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers

I just bought my 10 year old autistic daughter an IPOD touch that she needs to take to school with just the music (no apps) on it but she also also has an IPAD mini for home that is fullly loaded with apps.  The last time I tried to connect 2 devices to Itunes I ended up loosing my own music library so I am a bit hesitant to start setting up this new IPOD touch with outsome help. Anyone have any ideas on how I set up Itunes to make this work and not loose her IPAD apps and media?

  • Can u use the ipod touch without wifi like the phones do

can u use the ipod touch without wifi like the phones do

That depends on what you mean by "use".
Sure you can use it without wifi. Many apps do not require a connection to the Internet. The iPod app (or Music and Videos apps, I can never remember which the iPod Touch uses nowadays), for example.
However, iPod Touch devices do not include the "cell phone parts" - i.e. they cannot connect to cellular voice or data networks. Therefore, when an iPod Touch cannot connect to a wifi network, it has no way to transceive data with the Internet (short of Bluetooth, but that's a special case and I'm sure not what you're asking about).

If you set up iCloud and enabled Find My iPod on your device, you can track in on icoud.com from a computer.  See http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.

  • HT1386 i tried to sync my ipad to my itunes using usb but it will say not charging,, i can sync with my ipod touch without any problem... please help..

i tried to sync my ipad to my itunes using usb but it will say not charging,, i can sync with my ipod touch without any problem... please help..

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060 :
The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.
iPods need less power to charge them (their wall charger is half the power of the iPad's, 5W as opposed to 10W), so are more likely to charge via USB

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Updeted to 5.01 now can't restore my iPod touch

I updated to the new software and my iPod touch froze. I did a restore but it ony put a few apps back and now all I get is "set up your iPod" Set up as a new iPod or Restore from backup. When I click Restore from backup it goes through the motions but doesn't add any new apps and keeps going back to this option afterwards. Any ideas how I can get all my data and apps back

  • I registered my ipod touch on my other apple ID. i dont need that apple ID so i created a new one. how can i register my ipod touch into my new Apple ID?

i need help on registering my ipod touch into my new apple ID. i dont want to use the other ID. so how can i register it into my new Apple ID?

Changing Facetime settings on an iPod will have no affect on cellular settings on an iPhone. Something else is going on there. If she did not change any settings on the phone, then nothing she did could affect your celluar 3G.

  • How can I deactivate an Ipod touch without using it? (Broken screen)

I was given the new Ipod Touch 4th gen for Christmas and my 2yr old daughter threw it in the dogs water dish. It was completely covered with water, and the screen would no longer light up but I could see it was still working.. So I left it out to dry for a few days but my husband decided he wanted to try and "fix" it by opening it up and that is when the screen cracked.. So now it lights up again but its all white with a spider web in the one corner. I can still hit the button twice and then guess where the play button would be on the screen and tap it and it will play music.. so I know it still "works" but there is no screen.. and since my husband opened it up I dont even want to try to take it in and get it fixed. The metal backing is all bent away from the glass and you can just tell that someone opened it up.. So instead, I went and bought myself a new one.
It doesnt bother me that I have two of them activated and listed on my computer. That is not why I want to deactivate it. What happened it, I tried to use the face time on my new Ipod and nothing happened. (Yes I made sure that I set it up before I tried to use it) My brother in law tried to call me (we were sitting in the same room) and it was going through on his end, waiting for me to pick up, but nothing was happening on my end. So I am thinking that because it was set up on the broken one first, its sending the call to that one instead of going to my new one.
So I am trying to figure out how I can deactivate/permanently shut off the broken Ipod without being able to go on it or use it. So is there a way to plug it in and deactivate it through Itunes on my computer? -OR- If you can explain why else my face time would not be working after setting it up on the new Ipod?
    Thanks..

Having identical FaceTime info on the broken iPod and the new one should not effect using FT on the new iPod as long as the broken one is off. However, you can try connecting the broken one to you computer and see if you can restore it to factory defaults/new iPod vi iTunes. See:

My granddaughter forgot her unlock passcode to her iPod touch 4. How can we unlock her iPod?

you can only restore the iPod using:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212, but all data (purchases excluded) will be lost.
If the music was purchased with iTunes, here's how to redownload it: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519  but all other music is lost.

    Hi cookiemonster,
If you did not have iCloud on your iPod with Find My iPhone turned on, then there is no way to track it.
You will have to just do it the old-fashioned way and look for it....
    Sorry,
