Just can't seem to get the router to connect to the Internet!

I've had a D-Link DI-604 router for about 4 years-- and wanted to go wireless with an Apple Extreme but first have borrowed my neighbor's D-Link DIR-635 to just see if this will work in my brick house etc. (3 stories, lots of cement and brick...)
Well I get as far as the 192.168.0.1 and then "clone" my MAC address. Note: I was using the same computer to connect to the internet as I previously had used with the D-Link DI-604.
I also give a manual (easy-to-remember) 5-letter password to my wireless connection--
But although this "reboots" the modem, it does NOT let me connect to the internet...
So I'm back to my D-Link 604 cable (wired) only...
One thing the set-up asked for is my HOST name. The only thing I see in the Network System Preferences is an ethernet number: 00:16:cb:cd:6c:3e but I don't find a "HOST" name-- and is that really needed? (In Belgium I'm using an ISP provider "VOO")
Any comments really appreciated-- I could actually see a fairly strong signal from the wireless router (I named it "SteveHermee" and I could see strong bands even from the top floor, with router in the basement...)-- but I could never connect to the internet via CABLE (wired) or wireless.

J'étais absent ce week-end, désolé de n'avoir pas pu répondre plus tôt.
Pour récapituler, la configuration suivante fonctionne :
- Modem ADSL connecté au routeur wifi DIR-635 par câble RJ45.
Par contre, la réception est faible dans une pièce éloignée. Il faut d'abord vérifier si le routeur wifi peut être déplacé dans la même pièce, en tenant compte des contraintes ci-dessous :
- Loin d'une prise de courant (> 2m) ;
- Loin d'un appareil comme un téléphone intérieur portable ou de sa base ;
- Le plus près du centre de l'habitation ;
- Assez haut (au moins sur une table).
En changeant le positionnement de ma borne Airport installée au rez-de chaussée, j'ai doublé la force du signal à l'étage (murs et plafonds de 30cm en béton armé).
Si vous voulez changer le positionnement du routeur wifi DIR-635 dans votre réseau local, il faut respecter les contraintes suivantes :
- Le modem doit être connecté au port WAN d'un routeur ;
- Le câble téléphonique du modem doit être court, mais le câble RJ45 de connexion du modem au routeur peut être long (20m sans problème) ;
- Pour connecter un routeur X à votre routeur wifi DIR-635, il faut que le routeur X dispose d'un port "UpLink", et c'est ce port "UpLink" que vous devez connecter au port WAN du routeur DIR-635.
Le routeur X est alors configuré pour distribuer les adresses IP via DHCP, c'est pourquoi il faut empêcher le routeur DIR-635 de le faire en le configurant en mode pont.
Je me suis procuré une doc technique du DIR-635 (User Manual DIR-635 version-1), et il me semble que la page 14 indique comment le faire, mais je n'arrive pas à lire ce qui est inscrit sur la copie d'écran.
Il y a certainement une option pour "étendre un réseau existant" ou quelque chose de similaire.
Difficile de vous donner plus d'information sur un matériel que je ne connais pas.
Par contre, en ce qui concerne la borne Airport, je pourrais mieux vous dépanner.

This is how App Store app shows now when an app is downloading. If you cannot download anything, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store, remove your Apple ID, and set it again. That should work.

Ever since I updated my iPod Touch 4th Gen to iOS 6, If the wifi on my iPod Touch is on nothing else on the router will connect to the internet..
It's the weirdest thing.
My Wired and WiFi computers are experiencing DNS errors, unresolved URLs and in general having difficulty connecting to the internet...
That is.... UNTIL I SHUT OFF THE WIFI ON MYiPOD 4th Gen TOUCH!!!
Then everything works fine.
I've reset my router, several times.
I've reset my Cable Moden, several times.
The problem persists until I disable the WiFi on my iPod

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

I just got a new Windows tablet. I set up Home Sharing between it and my desktop Mac but I can't seem to get playlists from my desktop into the tablet. Can I do this by plugging my tablet into my desktop via a USB cable?

I just got an HP Stream 8 tablet with Windows on it. I have a Mac desktop running 10.6.8. I set up Home Sharing by making sure both had the same version of iTunes and I authorized the new tablet (desktop already was). (I haven't exceeded the number of authorized computers.) I would like to take some of the playlists I have on my desktop Mac and copy them into iTunes on the tablet. I hooked up the tablet to my desktop with a USB cable but wasn't able to get it to copy. I do not have WIFI....is there a way to do this by just having the tablet hooked up via the USB cable? If so, can someone please talk me through the steps necessary to do that? Thanks!

I've bought a new computer and can't seem to get my router & network adapter set-up

I just bought a faster computer and when trying to install the software for my router (BEFW11S4) and network adapter (WUSB11) I'm getting an error that I need to be connected to the internet.
DUH! The whole point of installing these 2 is so that I can get to the internet.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Can someone give me step by step "wireless for dummies" terms on how to install on the new computer? Someone told me that I shouldn't be trying to configure the router so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
Any help I could get would be great!

ok./...first the adpater....
insert the setup disc into the cd rom....exit the linksys screen when it pops up....
now plug in the WUSB11....you will get a found new hardware....hit next and then select the "automatic" option....hit next and windows should search for the drivers and install them. ( if you are trying to use the ELA ot ELC ....don't do so )
As far as the router is concerned....the config depends upon your ISP....if it's a cable connection....turn off all devices....then turn on the modem , router and PC ( in this order) ....check if you are going online.....if not...., in the browser key in http://192.1681.1 "admin" is the password....once in the setup page....click on MAC address clone....select enable and then "clone"....save settings....power cycle again and check if you are online.....
In case you are using a DSL....go to the setup page of the router , and from under "internet connection type' select PPPoE....enter your username and password...save settings and check if you are going online....

I want to take my apple tv from my home in Canada and us it at the Cabin in the States, but can't seem to get it to set up in the states? It just keeps asking for time and date over and over.

We just bought apple tv for our home in Canada, we also want to use it at our Cabin in Montana. We have internet and can get netflix etc on the Macbook, but don't seem to be able to hook up the Apple TV, it just keeps asking for the Time and Date over and over. Anyone know what we are doing wrong?

The setup - One PC running Itunes, one Apple TV on a wired connection and an Iphone and Ipad connected over wi-fi. All are running the latest and greatest software versions.
I now want to be able to stream from Itunes to the mobile devices. I have set up Home Sharing on Itunes, and turned on Sharing in "Music" and "Videos" in both Ipad and Iphone. However, I don't get the "shared" option on either.
If I go into Itunes and select File>Home Sharing>Turn Off Home Sharing, then turn it back on again, then a "Shared" item appears under Libraries. However, as soon as I click "Done", it disappears again.
I have tried uninstalling Bonjour and Itunes. I have restarted all devices, having shut down the applications. Where should I go from here please?

I can't seem to get the iTS to update the description of my podcast, nor refresh to show new episodes?

I recently launched a podcast series (http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/notes-from-northwest-passage/id449063851) but its still showing an older description text with some typos and an incorrect link in it, as I registered it with a pre-edited file so it would be in line for review while I finalized the details, and now I can't seem to get it to refresh and show the new texts at all, even though I edited the description texts in the xml file well over 2-3 weeks ago.
I've tried redoing this file several times. It always validates but changes never get picked up by the iTunes store.I can manually subscribe to the feed using iTunes' advanced menu, with no problems. The feed is at:

I recently (about 3-4 days ago) tried redirecting the feed to a new version of the xml file stored in a new folder, just to see if that would somehow jolt it back into reading it, but again after 3-4 days it hasn't done anything.
It's also not showing any of the most recent episodes even though they have all been there about a week, so the store should have picked them up by now, no?
Any suggestions?

If you look at the feed, and look at the entry 'The end to an exciting field season in Aulavik National Park' you will see the line:

You have not closed the 'pubdate' tag - there should be a '>' as the 9th character. Because the tag has been left open, it invalidates everything which follows it, and thus the entire feed. iTunes therefore cannot read it, which is why the Store has not updated. Add the '>' and republish, and all should be well.
It's always worth checking your feed by subscribing manually, from the 'Advanced' menu, or by clicking the 'subscribe free' button on the Store page (both do the same thing) - if you can subscribe to the feed it should be OK.

Can't Seem to Get my Event Based Job To Execute

What makes this slightly different than other posts on this topic is that we want to use our own queue/payload object rather than the built-in SCHEDULER$_EVENT_QUEUE. There are many reasons for this. What follows in under 11gR2 (11.2.0.3)
So, the following code blocks are just for a proof of concept piece intended to create a simple job and to have it fired based on the arrival of a message in a queue. (Something we have a requirement to do) The issue that I just can't seem to resolve is that, for some reason, the scheduler object never triggers the job. I can't find any trace or alert log entries to help me diagnose. What I do know is that the queue itself is fine (dequeues and enqueues work normally). The object payload type is fine (All of these tested from the EVENT_JOB_MGR package provided below).

I call the ENQUEUE_JOB_STATUS_MSG method to stick a message on the queue. I can confirm that it can be dequeued and logged using the DEQUEUE_JOB_STATUS_MSG method in the package. However, nothing seems to happen (at all) as far as the scheduler job when a message is put on the queue. I am thinking it should dequeue the message with status set to SUCCESS and then, kick off the job.
Can anyone see why the above wouldn't work? Been stuck here for a couple of days.

Try to create job that react on event directly not using schedule.

Can't seem to get Elements 8 to accept RAW files

I have been using Elements 8 for 1-1/2 years and just made the switch to a Canon DSLR camera. I want to generate RAW images and process them with Elements. I just can't seem to get Elements to show a RAW converter. Period. I have uploaded plug-in's and even tried getting the Canon supplied photo editing program to read RAW as well. Zilch. What do I need to do (step by step) to get this method of image manipulation to work. Is Elements 8 a dead horse when it comes to working with a Canon RAW file? I'd rather not invest in a newer Elements program just yet. Help!

The information provided pointed me in the right direction, but the outcome was the same. Apparently, Photoshop Elements 8 needs the 6.4 version in order to be compatible with Canon RAW files. I went back to Adobe, but they were unable to provide me with the link for the file extension (or plug-in) to make things improve. I also installed the DNG converter, but when I tried to move over Canon RAW images, I kept getting "does not recognize file." Huh?

I've been trying for like 6 hours to get my router to work. It's recognised but it can't connect to the internet it did yesterday but now it won't. Also I've been trying to find my network key and the blank username and admin for password doesnt work. The model of my router is a WRT54GS.

1st reset the router back to it's default settings by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 20-30 seconds. Then unplug the power of the router for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
Then to reconfigure the router from scratch including setting up your wireless settings... I recommend using a fairly easy to use software called EasyLink Connect. You can download this off the internet (by bypassing the router and connecting to the modem) from this website: www.linksys.com/easy

I can't seem to get Firefox to update on my Linux Mint system???

First I have to say I'm a little tech challenged. I can't seem to get my Firefox to update to the latest version. I've tried the Help page and done the fixes to no avail. I also downloaded the latest version but my computer will not seem to do anything with it. My Linux Mint is currently up to date.
My Firefox does crash occasionally and I wind up having to shut the computer down manually. Linux restarts fine but sometimes it takes two or three tries to get Firefox up without crashing again...

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.
