Just curious: Wondering about the "Getting Started" window

I'm rather liking the "Getting started with Acrobat Standard 8" window that pops up when you first start Acrobat. So much so in fact that I'm thinking I'd like to use a similar device for a product I'm documenting. I'm curious to know if anybody has a general idea of the coding behind it. Is it Telerik or AJAX or tricked-out PDF or...? Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

How to clean up the list of recent files in the Getting Started Window?

The pinned/not pinned distinction for projects appearing in the getting stared window (GSW) is a bit moot if like me you are working on only a few projects.
What I find particularly distracting is projects popping up in this list if, say, I check out some examples, or temporarily load a project from an alternate location, etc.
I want to remove those from the list right away, but as simple as the request sounds, I could not figure out how to do that elegantly.
Pinning/Unpinning doesn't work, there is no "Clear recent file/project list" in the corresponding LV menus and the only way I can think of doing that is by editing the ini file.
Am I missing something?

This has been one of those majorly annoying things I have screamed about for a long time. And when they created the "new" GSW with the pinned projects and recent files, I was so hoping they would just add a simple right-click menu to remove an item from the list. But no. It didn't happen.

LabVIEW Getting Started window

Whenever I close VI, it automatically opens the LabVIEW Getting Started window, which can be annoying occasionaly.
How do I set LabVIEW up in order not to pop up Getting Started window every time I close all VIs ?

There is also an option to have LabVIEW skip the Getting Started window when starting up. Go to Tools>>Options>>Environment, then check the box called "Skip Getting Started window on launch". The Getting Started window will still appear when you close all VIs, but this might be helpful if you want to go straight to an empty VI when starting LabVIEW.

No. You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

After System recovery all the installed apps are not their EXAMPLE Getting Started Windows 8

I did a factory restore w/ HP tech. giveing me the advice to do so. I have a HP Pavillion 17 notebook. came installed w/ Windows 8 after a few months I upgraded to 8.1 Now after restore Im running 8 My problem is after this re-start I did not get all my factory installed apps. EXAMPLE Getting started Windows 8 and others. Desktop Icons also did not populate except trash quick start icon thats it Please help THE HP TECS I HAVE SPOKE WITH apx. 8 HOURS in 3 days time are very hard to UNDERSTAND AS IM SPEAKING TO THESE GUYS IN INDIA india. tHEY ALL HAVE GAVE ME DIFFERENT ADVICE AND HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY SYSTEM THAN I DID IN THE BEGINNING.

Can you see a image in the Get Info Window?

After upgrading to Mt LIon and while using CS6, I can't see image previews in the Get Info window. Can't see images in the upper left corner of the get info window, so I can't make a selection and then do a copy- paste like I could do before I upgraded to Mt Lion with CS6. I want to be able to paste a image of the subjects in my folders.. IE folder of Panda Bears would have a image of a Panda showing on that folder. Folder of The Great Wall would have a image of the Great Wall on the Folder of Great Wall pictures. This has always worked for the past many years I have used a Mac and Photoshop. I started with Photoshop 2. All my photo folders are represented by images so I have a good idea of what is contained in each folder. Now after 2 weeks in China, 20 folders are represented by 10-11-12, 10-12-12, 10-13-12, 10-14-12 and so on. Shows me nothing but dates. I have tried saving as Jpeg, Tiff, and PAD, and still can't do a copy-paste in the Get Info window. Apple says it is a Adobe problem, Yesterday Adobe told me it is because I am uusing a Nikon D800 and Adobe does not have a patcdh for the NEW Nikon camera. I then tried using my Nikon D2Xs, Nikon D3X, Nikon 800 and even my wife's D50 and none of these camera allow me to copy paste the thumbnail image to the clipoboard like I have been able to do for YEARS... I can see images in a folder in Bridge, but the images dont show in my desktop folders.IE, a folder on my desktop with 200 pictures only show with words/ numbers/letters NO IMAGES appear in the folders on the desktop. On some folders the folders in a folder don't show up as Folders either.
Can Any one help me. Same thing happens on my MACPRO w 16 GB Ram and on my 17" MacBook Pro.

Adobe is the clear owner of the responsibility to make functional their product that they claim is compatible with your operating system. Adobe is the one who sold you the product.
I just went looking for what Adobe has said about Mountain Lion compatibility, and they both list Mountain Lion as compatible and include such language as that on this page (emphasis mine):

This is business and the business is making products that have value and are sold to people who perceive that value. Adobe doesn't get to keep selling products that don't work while standing on principles that "it's someone else's problem". Customers don't care why it doesn't work.
It's obvious to a child that if Photoshop CS5 can write the proper things to the Apple OS so that the thumbnails are visible, that there's something Adobe could do to fix it.
But EVEN IF this were something only Apple could fix, that Apple hasn't fixed it yet says pretty loudly that Adobe isn't making the right overtures to Apple for their mutual benefit. Adobe, are your executives so greedy that they can't grease a few palms of their friends over at Apple to put some priority on this? What's the problem here? Has Adobe actually forgotten how to do business?

P.S., You should know that I don't use a Mac and am personally having no issues with seeing proper thumbnails and previews on my Windows 7 and 8 systems, since the software that does that isn't from Adobe.

How do I stop the "Getting Started with Mozilla Firefox" tab from opening every time I open FF?

Every time I open FF, the "Getting Started with Mozilla Firefox" tab opens. I have checked and it's not in my homepage list.
If I open any additional windows, it doesn't open.
But, once I close all of them and reopen it again, the tab opens.
I've had a similar problem with a couple addons (ietab) doing the same thing.

about:config is typed into the address bar as if you were going to a web page.
It will popup a message warning you that you are messing with important stuff.
Just agree.

I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox , when I hit the icon and firefox opens the first page that comes up is the Getting started with Mozilla Firefox and not my home page , I have checked everything I could find and nothing keeps this page from opening like it's my home page . also I unloaded download helper for the same reason , it keep opening up wanting me to upgarde to the latest version , I already had upgraded , I don't know what is going on , My home system was upgraded early last week and works fine , I double checked all setting between the two systems , nothing , Please let me know where to look , thank you , a longtime fan of Firefox.

There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. Then you can set your homepage to anything you like.
If that doesn't work you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].

All-in-all, this is a pretty sophisticated piece of malware, and if neither of those links help, I'd suggest going to a forum site that is dedicated to fixing computer problems/infections and asking for some more targeted help there. It's something that is beyond my level of expertise to remove.

How do I stop Firefox from opening the Getting Started page - tried many things already!

Each time I start Firefox it does two things:
1 - It checks plugin compatibility.
2 - It opens the Getting Started Page.
I have just installed the latest 8.0.1. version.
I run on Windows7 Ultimate.
Have not used Firefox for a year due to this with previous version doing the same.
Have tried all support recommendations: closing tabs, saving etc.
Surprised to see no one else with these issues and no support?

MyRio Cannot Communicate When the Getting Started Wizard Tries to Set Date and Time

I cannot seem to get MyRio to communicate with my computer. I have installed all the items on both discs and applied any updates that it asked me to do. I plug in the MyRio, the device window pops up and I click the Getting Started Wizard. The myRio is found by the computer and I click on it. It says checking software, then asks me to rename it. I do so and then it attempts to set the date and time. At this point it says it cannot communicate with the myRio and to check that the power supply and USB are plugged in, which are obviously connected since the computer was able to find the myRio in the first place.
NI MAX can see the myRio, says that it is in "Safe Mode (Software not installed)."
There may be a problem with conflicting LabViews, since I had 2012 originally before installing the 2014 packages. Does anyone know if the myRio discs are installing the full LabView 2014, or just packages for LabView 2014 that will not work without first installing the full LabView 2014? Or is there a quick fix for this?
Any help is appreciated.
