Just delete a user?
I think I learned somewhere that users that quit a company have to be saved for another 10 years in the system, it´s a legal question. Uptil now we just deactivated their account, but never deleted them.
Now our consultant says that it´s not enough to just deactivate the account when it comes to licensing questions. We would have to completly delete the account.
Who is right?
and don't use USMM for license auditing, if you don't have to ... use SLAW instead. the RSLAW_PLUGIN report consolidates with less bugs and also provides the latest improvements, so check for the latest version of the tool here: service.sap.com/licenseauditing (only: not right now, the link is outdated, but i have informed SAP about it).
Julius way of treating 'retired' UserIDs is the very best: change valid-to date and attach to a user-group which contains only the 'retirees'. in this way you are saving the history of that user = you can always tell, who changed which master data or document.
if you want to get rid of your users, there's the possiblity of archiving them (and several other security thingies) -> transaction SARA, objects: US_USER, US_PROF, US_PASS, US_AUTH. to be on the safe side for legal requirements, transfer the archive files to an (optical) archiving system and keep them there as long as needed.

How To Properly Delete a User Profile on Windows 7 in a Domain environment
I have not been able to find an answer that matches the issue I'm facing. I had recently setup a laptop for a user and soon after, he was experiencing issues that I thought might be profile related. So, I did what always worked for me on prior versions of
Windows without any fuss or side affects.
Logged in under the local Administrator account, I went into: System Properties>User Profiles>Settings and removed the user profile from their. When I do that, I get an error message:
Profile Error
Profile not deleted completely. Error - A required privilege is not held by the client
Ok, no problem I think. I just need to delete the user's profile directory under the users folder right? So I do this and figure when I try to log in again as the user that a new profile will be created. However, this is not what happens exactly. I login
with the user credentials and it logs in successfully. However, I get a pop saying:
You have been logged on with a temporary profile
You cannot access your files and files created in this profile will be deleted when you log off. To fix this, log off and try logging on later.
Please see the event log for details or contact your system administrator
So my question is; why did the profile not delete completely after both deleting the user profile under System Properties and after deleting the actual profile directory? What did I miss and what is the proper method of deleting a user profile completely

According to your description, I understand that you want to delete user profile but display an error in Windows 7.
Please use other user (with administrator privileges) login this computer, then open Properties for Computer--->Advanced system setting--->Settings for User Profiles, then select the profile you want to delete.

This is why I think I need to.
My computer got hit by lightening, and I may have created a new user account through netinfo rather than system preferences /accounts/+user. Mail used to open twice, but no longer. Now, Safari askes me for my keychain password twice, Spotlight can't find a folder on the computer when the search is restricted to folder and computer, though the folder is there and easyfind finds it, and when System Preferences/Spotlight/Privacy has the hard drive icon added, then deleted, Spotlight still does not find anything. (Yes, everything is backed up, on CD, DVD, and online.) Microsoft Tec Support says

I believe Microsoft. So, creating a new user was easy.
But copying files uses up too much hard drive (movies, music), and may miss keychains, preferences, mail, address book, and documents. Since Spotlight no longer works, who knows what is happening. (Yes, I've repaired persmissions, and disk repair. No change). I'm using up my hard drive trying to move files to the new user. If I share files, or put them into a public folder, then delete the old user, will I still have the old user's files in the new user's account? It is not clear to me what I should be trying to do in order to create a new user, move my old files etc over, and delete old user. Thanks.

My situation is a tad different..this is a new Mac (and I'm a brand new Mac user). Tons of querks occur under my original account (videos won't run, Safari won't support certain plug-ins). I spent 6 hours on the phone w/ 4 different Apple Reps and nobody could fix it. A rep finally looked at my MacBook Pro in person today. He created a new account just to see if that would work and under that new account, everything works perfectly fine (no querks, can view video). He tried switching a million settings in my original account to no avail.
He said to create a new account (as he did) and move my files over to the new account and then go back to the original and delete it. How do you do this?! I can't figure it out! Selling an Imac to a family member and want to delete the user
So I'm selling my 2008 iMac to my mom because I just bought a new macbook pro. I've transferred everything to my new computer and now want to delete my user account on my old one (which is the only user on the computer). I want my mom to be able to make her own account so she can customize it like any mac user should be able to do, but I don't want her to lose some of the apps and stuff that I have.
If I delete the account will It lose some of that data? I also want to take the mac off of my apple ID so that Its not taking up one of my 5 devices (I think that's how many they allow haha). I am still curious about how to do this because I want to do it correctly.

Erase the drive and install Snow Leopard from scratch:
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

Your client requirement is to archive users out of OIM after 75 days. This means in addition to actually disabling and/or deleting them, fully removing any traces of them from the system.
As Kevin & GP said, OIM is just not built to do this. API alone is not going to accomplish this task... you'll also need to include SQL to actually drop data out of tables.
All that being said, your post said the reason for this was because of a "license for limited users". Oracle Identity Manager is licensed on an active user basis. You really should talk with your Oracle rep to confirm, but I've never had licensing contracts include deleted/disabled users. -

If you've admin privileges and there are no files in the user account that you want to keep, just go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock it with your admin password. Select the user that you want to delete and click on the minus button. You'll get a warning before you completely delete the user but once it's gone, it's gone.

Delete a user from a table whose name is a foreign key in other tables

I am trying to figure out an easy way to do this. I just recently took someone application who utilized 500 tables. I am trying to delete a user from a table called member_table. However, I am having problems doing so because the user name is a foreign key in other tables which has a relationship with this member_table. I really can't naviagte through all 500 different tables and start deleting the user from each table . hence, I would like to figure out a way to delete the user from the member_table without getting the error message
ORA - 02292 "Integrity Constraint (....) violated child record foundUnless you want to find and re-create all of the FK's that point to that field so you can make them ON DELETE CASCADE (note it is the FK not the PK that has that attribute), you will need to either delete that member id from each of the child tables individually or update each one individually to either null or some valid value in member_table before you can delete the id from member_table.
You can find all of the tables, and the corresponding column_name that have an FK relationship to memeber_table with the following:

How do I delete a User that does not appear in Users & Groups?
A leftover user (former employee account) that won't go away. Phantom User account becomes the default login account regardless of the new employee's login attempts. The phantom account Home folder appears in the Users folder at the root level, but not in the Users & Groups panel in System Preferences. I have logged in as tech admin and deleted the phantom User folder (while it is not the Home folder), but it comes right back again as soon as the new employee logs in as himself. ***???
I'd just updated this iMac to Yosemite, but this issue predates any specific OS update. Has persisted from 10.5 - 10.10. but is becoming an issue with permissions.
Any thoughts other than having to reinstall the OS from scratch? I was about to, but thought I'd see if anyone else has ever heard of this.....Back up all data.

Accidentally deleted a users keychain
Hi,
I accidentally deleted one of my user's keychain. I can't remember if I selected DELETE REFERENCES AND FILES or just DELETE REFERENCES. Now there are just 2 system keychains and the X509Anchors keychains, and no certificates either.
I created a new keychain, but when trying to add passwords to it (like from Entourage for instance), it doesn't seem to take.
Is there a way to restore the deleted keychain if I don't remember what it was called?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank youNo, that doesn't fix it because all the certificates were deleted too. I can create a new keychain, but no passwords "take" because of the missing certificates. Now I need to figure out how to recreate those....

Could anyone please tell me how I can delete a user of my shared library? If I locate the itunes folder on my pc, and just delete their folder, music in my itunes ends up with a broken/missing file?
Regards.Hi Chris. I've got 1 pc to share with 2 ipods. I hold shift and click on itunes to select which library I want to use.
I want to delete the other user because when I add music to my library, it does not go into the other persons library. I didn't notice this until I added over 2000 more songs to my library! I think it would be too much hassle trying to find which songs are missing from the 2nd library. I then created another library for the other user and just dragged all of my itunes songs into their library.
I then deleted the first folder I made for them, but then the dreaded '!' appeared in my library. I restored the folder from my bin and this fixed the ! problem. I'm just stuck with a folder in my itunes folder, which I don't need any more> Hope that makes sense!!! -

I've run the Delete Object method and your script against similar data sets and yours appears to take a fair bit longer. I'd have to re-run in identical circumstances, a few times, to really say for sure, but my initial impression is that it will take hours
longer.
I guess the point is somewhat moot anyway, as for me the bit that generally takes longest is the actual query, rather than the deletions.
Boy how I wish I could just enter something into the FIM Portal directly that would blast out a bunch of users matching a query. One day...

FM to delete a user in Infotype 0105?
Hi,
I need to delete a user for an employee in IT0105 and then assign him a new user.
Is there a FM which will delete the user in IT 0105 and then a FM to create a new user for an employee in IT 0105.
Or maybe just update the table with the new user?
Any help will be appreciated.
