Just did a full sync, yet backup takes over 30 min?

Does the phone backup part of the upgrade contact the Apple servers or something? I just did a full sync and backup before updating, yet my backup is going on 30 minutes and barely halfway done. What's going on?

Did a full sync today, before a restore to fix Bluetooth...

I did a full sync today. I read that after the 2.02 update, bluetooth completely quits working. It did. So, I did a full sync, and then did a restore, to original, and then tried to do a restore from my latest backup, which I made today, but somehow all of my 4 backups, all different months, still point to August of 08. I have once again lost all of my phone numbers, SMS, music. I've tried restoring a few times, but no matter which one I use, it all goes back to 08/08/08. It's the 2nd time I've lost everything, and I really need to know where, if possible, some temp folder holds my backup from 2:30pm today. Because the 4 that are in my /local settings/ folder obviously are corrupt, and I'd like to know what I can do here...

Maybe I'm not asking correctly. How about this. When updating from 2.1 to 2.2, I know that iTunes makes a backup of the iPhone. Where can I find this backup file to restore to? I'm not looking to find an old 'sync', but rather looking for a full backup file. I really can't seem to find it, and my sync's are all screwed. The recent sync's when restored, all restore data from 08/08. I have absolutely nothing on my phone after august 8. All I do have currently, are voicemails...and that's it. No email, contacts, recent calls, music, photos (I do have all of my photos backed up though). Where can I find a "backup" instead of a "restore/sync"?

Lenovo H420 Desktop takes over 5 mins to boot up

Hi,
We have a Lenovo H420 desktop that takes over 3 mins to boot up. After you switch it on, the monitor displays a black screen with 'Lenovo' in white writing and remains with this screen for minutes on end seemingly doing nothing (hard drive cannot be heard working and it's activity light doesn't flash). After about 3 minutes Windows 7 suddenly loads in a matter of seconds.
Any ideas what is wrong? Is this normal?
We've only had this computer for about 3 months and it has been doing it since we bought it. We reset the computer back to its factory settings but that hasn't changed anything. Bios doesn't seem to be accessible as no startup screen saying press del for setup etc shows.
Kaspersky and Malwarebytes doesn't show any nasties.

Hyper-V Cluster Hosts BMR Backups take over 12 hours

We are using 2012 R2 DC to create a Hyper-V 2 node cluster. The backup is DPM 2012 R2 running on 2012 R2 DC. The DPM system was upgraded to 2012 R2 from DPM 2010 about a year ago and has worked for the most part.
Two problems we are having. I am using the VSS writer from the SAN manufacture. On our old cluster I used the Microsoft VSS writer and had no problems unless I loaded the C: up with too many files on the cluster node. I saw another post
that says to disable the HW VSS writer but that was unsuccessful the last time I tried it. I am going to try it again though.
1. I currently get a random VM that hangs during the backup. The VM still runs but I cannot migrate it and backups fail from that point on. In Hyper-V backup the Status field shows "Backing up...". I am waiting for this
to happen on a non critical VM but alas that is not happening. <sigh> To correct the problem I have to pull power from the cluster node the system was on and then about 90% of the time I have to replace to different .sys files in c:\windows\system23\drivers
and then run the startup repair utility from the windows install disk.
2. I did not notice this until this week but my BMR backups of the Hyper-V hosts are taking over 12 hours to complete. The BMR on a different stand alone server is taking less than 10 min. What is causing this and if these are taking this
long is it interfering with the backup of the VMs on the cluster and causing the problem in paragraph 1 above? I have tried to stagger my backups so they don't interfere with each other but if this one is taking 12-14 hours that will never happen.

Are you on DPM 2012 R2 UR3 ?    If so - there is no need to a vss hardware provider, you can safely un-install it and DPM backups will continue to work fine.
Problem-1) I currently get a random VM that hangs during the backup. The VM still runs but I cannot migrate it and backups fail from that point on. In Hyper-V backup the Status field shows "Backing up...".
Response-1) Is there still an active backup job for that VM on the DPM server - and does it show that it's still transferring changes ?   If not, then wait for other VM backups to complete on that host, then manually stop the DPMRA service - that
will reset the "backup in progress" flag and allow the VM to be managed. We have an open bug that we're working on to fix that issue.
Problem-2) My BMR backups of the Hyper-V hosts are taking over 12 hours to complete.
Response-2) DPM is not responsible for the amount of time a BMR backup takes to complete. To troubleshoot this outside of DPM perform the following.
First make sure no active BMR job is running by looking at running jobs on the DPM server.
Second - using task manager make sure there are no WBENGINE.EXE process running on the DC you want to test - if so - kill it with task manager.
To test BMR backup outside of DPM, try this command:
1) Set up a network share on a remote machine
\\server\bmrshare
2) From an administrative command prompt on the PS, type:
              wbadmin.exe start backup -allcritical -backuptarget:\\server\bmrshare
This should show you the list of volumes included in the BMR backup and ask "Do you want to start the backup operation?. - Type Y to continue..
See how long it takes to complete or see if it hangs - kill it if you need to after X hours - but look on the share and see how much it copied before killing it.
You can try disabling chimney on both DPM and DC to see if that helps.

I recently transferred my music from a PC to a Mac and i just synced my ipad for the first time and the old music has gone on the ipad but the music i just downloaded will not sync yet it plays on iTunes?

It says that the computer is not authorized but it is and the old computer has been deauthorized. If you need more information just let me know

Save myrio backup take over

Hey guys I recently launched by robot with a variety of sensor's. These sensor's were programmed using labview and saved using the write to measurement file, express VI. I had made a VI in labview then turned it into a RT target, and thus deploying them on my robot.
After letting the robot run for several minute's I went back to the C drive of the myrio in which I stored all the data.
Several files were incomplete and or divided amongst the main file's directory, I had set the main file to save as and backup file's. It looked almost as if it had saved to these file's and then continued after a certain amount of time to these backups. Can someone explain this? And is their anyway to recover the whole file together?
And if so is their anyway to recover the whole file, instead of peicing together different save files. As i have around 30 backup file's and it's tough to peice together everythng without knowning what everything is.

This I discovered when writing a servo code.
"Nw if you look at the express VIs you're using (double click to open the config pane) to write to files most are set to Rename the file if it already exists. So in this case when you're calling the Write to Measurement file over and over in a loop you'll get a bunch of similarly named files rather than one large file full of data." \
How do I prevent this? Would it be append to file.
Also now that I think about it, would this cause the vi to write several save points and then go to randomly numbered backup files?
As far as the system I say robot, but it's actually a rocket, with a bunch of sensor's that are on it. The GPS at the bottom of the code is to work at all times with the sensor's only working on descent, with a camera looking for a match of a preset image upon descent.
I know the artcheture is kinda crude but I wanted clear separation between each sensor.
It then has a second myrio attached to the bottom, to operate a servo with strain gauges. The servo is pull a metallic cylinder up and down controlling a rod attached a motor. I've attached the code as well.
I am almost 90% certain the rod worked during flight but the saving of it came back as zero's as well, which to me think's my saving was messed up similar to the other bay of the rocket. As their is no way an acclerometer can read zero. And it did change the accleration as thought.

My new macbk pro takes over 8 min to boot up

It sits on the grey screen with the apple icon and progress wheel spinning, which I timed this morning. I never had this performance issue with my last mac, which had less ram, so I'm assuming it is something with the Mavericks OS. I looked at the settings, but don't see anything I can tweak to improve this start time. I can't really tell what applications may be opening at boot to slow it down. I am a photographer and have a number of folders with large data files on my desktop. This was never a problem before but I could remove them if it is now. I have no other programs on my desktop. It's not a critical mass issue, but certainly is annoying.

You are still under warranty. Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.

Firefox take over 20 min to load

I am running windows xp professional. For some reason, this morning firefox was just not loading and it took 20 min or more to load. Once it is loaded, firefox is working ok. I try remove the program and reinstall, try refresh firefox, try create a new profile but none of these work. I am running Firefox 36.0. I can start internet explorer fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try these in order:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
     after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
     Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Backup takes very very long

I have a 2g ipod touch with os3 and a mac with current system and updates.
It seems to be taking a very long time for my ipod touch to backup. The info from Apple on backup says "Automatically backed-up information includes text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, and more....Other media files (such as songs, videos, and some photos) aren’t backed up..."
Yet it takes over half an hour to backup, not including the sync. Why is this?

Thanks F Shippey and luvlabs for your replies. From the Apple documents that I quoted in my question, I had assumed that it did not matter how much music/videos etc. I had since they were not backed up: "...Other media files (such as songs, videos, and some photos) aren’t backed up....." it was the settings and a subset of photos that is backed up. So yes I do have a 16Gig touch with about 5Gig of stuff. I would have hoped that the backup would have been "smart" and not backup the same stuff over and over, and rather look to see what was changed and perform an incremental backup.
I guess I don't understand exactly what is backed up, as it seems to be everything, despite Apple's documentation, and I don't know why it isn't incremental. I guess if my ipod crashes, or I won't question the backup time if I just get it all recovered.
At least I know now that ny situatino is not out lof line with what others experience.

2 photo streams on my iphone 4s in albums - I just want one to sync with iCloud

I have 2 photo streams on my iphone 4s - I just want one to sync with iCloud.
When I go into my Albums 2 show up as Photo Stream under my Camera Roll and even using edit I can't delete the blank one.
I just want one that syncs photos I take to the iCloud and to delete the other.
Help please - its a 4GS version 5.01.

Photo stream only maintains photos in photo stream for 30 days, although they will remain on your devices until deleted. Chances are only 56 of your photos were added within the last 30 days. At this point, the best course of action is either to copy the remaining photos in a new album in iPhoto, then sync them to your phone by selecting the album on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. An alternative is to copy them to a folder, then use an app like PhotoSync to wirelessly transfer photos in the folder to your phone.

My iphone 4s wont sync with itunes when i plug in it just says waiting to sync?

got m new iphone 4s ive set it up on itunes but i want to put more music on and when i plug it in it just says waiting to sync and the after about a min a message comes up with iphone cant sync because time is too long or something similar.

This happens to me from time to time using the Wifi sync (on both the iPad and iPhone). If wifi has worked before but stopped working, try "Forgetting Network" on the device and rejoining the network.

How long should the backup take as part of the iOS 5 update?

Any ideas why my iOS5 update can't get past the backing up stage? I've left it running for 12 hours, but the update process never gets past the scrolling message about backing up.

Well at last its done! I ended the current restore, backed up to icloud instead of itunes and then did a full restore. Hey presto! 10 mins later everything was tickity boo! all contacts, calenders music and even the photos were back! Needless to say I wont be getting the new iphone on my upgrade! Getting very fed up of the crap that goes along with it. Time for an andriod phome me thinks! Sorry apple but this is definitley one customer that you've lost!

IPod Touch takes over an hour to boot up??

Every time I turn off (or run out of battery power) my iPod Touch, it takes over an hour or two to boot up. It will cycle through with the apple and a blank screen, then white out and start all over again. If it happens while connected to iTunes, it will show up as loading in iTunes for a while, then appear as connected but on the5 Summary Tab, the bar at the bottom of the screen shows the iPod as full with "Other" when it should be a mix of apps, music, etc.
I have updated to the latest iOS, I tried resetting a while back, but nothing has changed.
It does seem to take less time to boot up when not plugged into a charger or to iTunes, but it still takes over 45 mins at least.
What is wrong???

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
