I just downloaded ios 7 for both mine & wifes phone this morning - I've used my apple ID for both (helps me find her frequently misplaced phone) and then a series of messages came thru as my first call came in that I just clocked "ok" - and now my wifes phone is also getting my texts... please advise asap - I can't find anything in settings to rectify. have you tried setting up a login for him for windows?

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.

He keeps telling me that , there is no way for us both to have it. So, since his Apple ID was the one programmed into our Apple TV's he has custody to everything. I know there has to be a solution for this, because I can't be the be the only person this has ever happened too!

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

Deleting an account from a device will not delete the information from the account, if that is what you are asking.

I can't download any app into my iPAD, but I have no problem downloading app into my iPhone. Using same Apple ID for both my iPAD and iPhone.

Do the apps show as installed on the Purchased tab in the App Store app ? If they show as installed, then have you got any restrictions set on Settings > General > Restrictions (e.g. Allowed Content > Apps) that might be hiding them ?
You could try closing the App Store app completely and then seeing if it downloads after you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e.not with the App Store app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the App Store app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
And try logging out, and then back in, with your iTunes account : Settings > Store

Unable to use my apple id for facetime and imessage.

I recently changed my apple id so that I was not sharing the same id with my son. Now I cannot use my apple id for facetime or imessage. I can use my son's id, but not mine. (So no network errors, just an id problem.)
I am using the latest software - iOS version 8.02
My time and date are correct.
The error message I see is that my user name or password is incorrect, but I am 100% sure that I have entered it correct. Same id/pw works for icloud, itunes, etc.
Same problems exists for iPad 3 as for iPhone 5.
Is there some way I can reset my facetime/imessage settings and clear out any old data that might be stored somewhere (hopefully not wiping out the whole phone/ipad?)

Sometimes I will get a notification that x device is using my apple ID for FaceTime (or other services). Sometimes it is just generic Mac Book Pro. His can I see which devices are using my ID (and can you see more details than just the name)?

I just started getting this message too. Just started the last couple of days. It doesn't give a time that it was used. All it says that "appleid" was used to sign in to facetime on Macbook. My Macbook is not named "Macbook." It also doesn't correlate to times when computer is being used.

You can either turn off iMessage on your work phone, use a different Apple ID for iMessage on it (by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID), or go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on your work phone and uncheck your personal phone number under "You can be Reached by iMessage at".
