Just downloaded podcast file...

but it doesn't show up in the podcast folder on itunes... i didn't download it from itunes, i got it from the publisher cuz i couldn't find it on itunes... and i know it is a podcast because it is from something that are podcasts and that i have already downloaded... i was j/w if there was a way to put this file (i added to my library, but it is listed as a normal son) in the podcast folder, i want it in there along with the others i have from the podcast...

The podcast is probably listed as music, it needs to be downloaded by iTunes to show up in the Podcast catagory.
What you need todo is go back to the podcasters web site and copy the address in the RSS feed then add the podcast to iTunes by clicking Advanced/Subscribe To Podcast... iTunes will then download the new episodes and organize it in the podcast section.

  • How to not append '.PART' to the file name of the currently downloading file, and just download the file with its normal filename

In Windows, when Firefox (I'm currently using 7.0) downloads a file, it appends ''.PART'' to the file name of the currently downloading file and just renames it to its original file name after it finishes downloading.
I sometimes like to watch a currently downloading video file, so it will be better if Firefox just downloads the file to its actual filename (like what Opera does), so I can easily double click the incompletely downloaded file and watch it with the video player assigned to that file extension, rather than the awkward ''Right click -> Open With -> Choose Default Program'' route with .part files.
Does anyone know how to set Firefox to do this?

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox and prevents Firefox from renaming the .part file.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

I just downloaded a file.  The computer says it is not pdf file.  What is wrong?

    HI krishbiliyar,
Where did you download the file from? Does the file have PDF filename extension? And where are you getting the message that it's not a PDF file? In Reader or Acrobat?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Downloaded podcast files not moved to recycle bin when deleted.

I have iTunes running on two computers (home and work) both running Windows XP SP2. On my work computer, of which I am an administrator, when I right click on a downloaded podcast and select "Clear", I get a prompt asking me about moving the file to the recycle bin or keeping the files. Every time I see this, I select "Move to recycle bin" but nothing happens. There's a slight pause, like iTunes is trying to move the file, but the files are never moved. The entry in my podcast list is removed but if I go to the iTunes Music \ podcast folder, there they are.
This does not happen on my computer at home. The files are actually deteled on that computer. What am I doing wrong???
    Thanks!
Dell Inspiron 6000   Windows XP Pro

    I don't think you're doing anything wrong!
I had just deleted to Recycle Bin a whole bunch of podcast this morning, and after I read your post, I checked my PC.
It deleted about 30 and left 3.
    Looks buggy to me!

  • Some downloaded podcast files restart in the middle

    Hi,
Every so often, an audio podcast file (from any of a bunch of series I subscribe to) that iTunes downloads has the correct duration, but the contents are oddly corrupted: In mid-playback the audio starts over again. Say it's a 15 min. episode - after 5 min. it starts from the beginning, and it's missing the last 5 minutes.
The problem is in the file, so it's either:
    1. Corrupt from the source - doubtful, as I've encountered this from various sources, and such a significant problem wouldn't go unnoticed.
    2. Occurs during downloading.
Anyone seen this? Is there a solution? How can I delete an episode and redownload it in iTunes to test hypothesis #2?
    Thanks much,
    L.

I encountered it with a couple of episodes of the History of Rome podcast:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-history-of-rome/id261654474
Just had it with episode 9 of "A History of: Hannibal and the Punic Wars":
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/history-hannibal-punic-wars/id557854144
Likewise, 1 or more of the short episodes (under 2 minutes) of Scientific American "60-Second ..." (Space, Health, Science...), for example: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/60-second-science/id189330872
(not sure which of the several series this occured in)
From the files accumulating on my computer it looks like it also happened in episode #408 of Snap Judgement:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/snap-judgment-radio/id283657561
There may have been others. It's been happening sporadically over a good span of time (give or take a year).
    Thanks,
    L.

  • Just downloaded newest version 3.26.11 and it won't even open coldwater creek for me to shop! It wants to download some file that can't be opened! I had to switch over to iexplorer...is this going to be fixed????

I haven't used the browser extensively yet, however it shouldn't try to download from a click within an email instead of taking you to a business website! I even tried to just type the web address into the browser and it still wanted to just download the file of some weird type...don't know what to do except go back to ie which I don't like!!! Also, the new version of Firefox wouldn't connect into my AVG which is my firewall/email scanner/etc so I'm hanging out there unprotected anyway, so what's different that ie in that? Nothing.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • ITunes is deleting podcast files when I don't want it to.

I installed the latest version of iTunes and set my podcast settings to only dowload podcasts from the last week (since it was trying to download podcast files that I had previously listened to, then deleted), and delete podcasts was set to off.
Now, all of the sudden, it is deleting podcast files that are 1) older than a week and 2) dowloaded with the new iTunes.
I want to go back to the old iTunes behaviour of downloading only the most recent podcast (unless it has been previously downloaded) and only deleting files if done manually!

I have to agree. I've been using iTunes/iPods exclusively for listening to podcasts since 2008, and within the past year it's just gotten increasingly frustrating and confusing to use both iTunes and my iPod for this purpose. I just found this thread because my iPod auto-deleted a podcast that I'd only listened to for 10 minutes; and I don't want it to ever delete podcasts without my consent. Truly infuriating.

  • Can send podcast files only to iPod?

Actaully the only purpose I use iTune for is to find and listen to podcasts. I don't use iPod. It looks like iTunes can send podcast files to iPod (synchronize), but what about other devices? As for me, I'm using an iRiver mp3 player, which acts like a usb mass storage drive. When I plug the player in, Windows Media Player detects it and shows sync menu. But iTunes doesn't seem to do anything. So the bottom line is only iPod is compatible with iTunes? Is there any other way to use other mp3 player than iPod in iTunes? What I want to do is just send the downloaded podcast files to the iRiver player automatically.

    Thank you for your answer.
It is a shame that iTunes supports only iPod, since there are many other mp3 players and many people are forced to use iTunes to find and subscribe to podcasts. Yes, I know there are many other podcast download programs, but the problem is there is no other way to find various Japanese podcasts than at apple store->podcasts. I hope I could access that page with normal web browser but apple blocks it. It surely looks like a web page but when I try to go to that page with my web browser, it redirects me to some other page.
So it looks like the only ways are,
1)Manually copy files to my iRiver
    or
2)Find the url of podcasts from iTunes and then paste the url into other podcast download program such as ipodder.

  • Want to download a file without using adobe

I opened a file that I guess shouldnt have been opened when downloading and now every time I try to download it automatically saves as adobe and when I called the company they said not to. So how can I stop it from being opened or saved as adobe?

What is your operating system?  Download from where: a website?  Using what browser?
Then: what kind of file?  What means "saved as adobe"?
Have you tried to just download the file normally, without opening it "in adobe" (whatever that means) ?

    Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder.  Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

I have just downloaded itunes 10.6 and in the process my "podcast" option under library has disappeared! THe files are still on my laptop. I can also see some of my recorded music in the itunes library but can't play them - there is an exclamation mark next to each track. Basically I can't use itunes - is the only option remove and replace? Thanks in advance

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    Missing tracks
Typically this can happen because a file or folder is accidentally shunted to the wrong location. iTunes can also get confused if it expects to be talking to an external drive which isn't there. If will often reset the default media folder location and may have trouble finding files in the old folders.
Select one of your tracks that is missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Cancel when asked to try to locate the file, then look at the location given on the summary tab. This where iTunes thinks the file ought to be? Now find out where it actually is. Post back the two locations for comparison. I should be able to give you some steps to reconnect everything once I can determine which of the things that might have gone wrong is most likely in your case.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Walkman app not showing my downloaded podcast mp3 and m4a files

    Hi all,
Hope someone can help me with an Issue on my Z3 Compact running Lollipop 5.0.2 firmware.
I have a Music folder on my SDCard which contains all my music files in subfolders and all these files appear in the Walkman app just fine.
I also have two folders called 'Podcasts' - one on the internal storage and one on the SDCard which contain mp3 and m4a files which I have downloaded using 3rd party apps.
I would like to listen to these podcast files using the Walkman app - but they will not appear in Walkman - even if I try the Folders options.but it still will not show either of the Podcast folders.
The weird thing is it lists voices and sounds / voices rom two different SatNav folders which are stored on the SDCard - but not the podcast folders!!
It even lists a folder of foreign language audio mp3 files - but not the podcast files.
The podcast files appear fine in PowerAmp whic even shows the tags and descriptions etc....So, why not Walkman?
I even tried unmounting and re-mounting the SDCard to see if it would rescan - but still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Downloading a file would normally bring up an option to open the file with the appropriate program or save it - for some reason now it just downloads straight to the download folder. Why? Problem with Firefox or something else? It's very frustrating - sometimes you want the file opened first so it can be discarded or saved to a different location.

Hey. that's great! Thanks for posting back with the outcome.
