Just downloaded the new OS for IPhone. Despise the appearance. It has jacked with the way I like things in some unacceptable ways. Is there any way to keep the OS, but return to the old appearance? Important to know BEFORE I download OS for computer.

I know I am responding to my own thread, but I an SOOOO disgusted with Apple right now.
The new iOS 7 was the lead story on CNN today... and it wasn't positive. Easy to see why, it's a graphics disaster. It is ugly, difficult to read, doesn't interface aesthetically with the iPhone 4S, and gives everyone in America vertigo. Either fix the appearance, or find some way to allow us to roll back to our previous iOS. Do so quickly, or this life-long Apple customer [circa 1978] will be moving on. If this represents shades of what is coming with OS Maverick, I am petrified. Further, I am a GM of a chain of newspapers and websites in the Austin, Texas area. I will be ripping out a scathing editorial. The notion that we can't roll back from something millions of us hate is despicable. I'm giving you one week. Be sure I am not alone.

Don't know what you mean by "some time ago", but unless you activated Find My Phone and the phone is still on, the answer is no. (Even if you ask 3 times).

I recently got a new laptop, it has no music on it and I have been plugging my iPod in and listening to music that way. Tonight it decided to sync with my iTunes and deleted all of my music. Is there any way I can get my music back?

I imported info from my phone to my wife's phone by mistake. She lost her photos, texts, and contacts. Basically my phone is her phone now. Is there any way I can get her stuff back on her phone? We also have a Mac computer. Could that info be saved on it?
If there's no backup, then there is nothing to restore.
In iTunes, under Edit > Preferences > Backups it should list the name that was assigned to the device. -
both my wife and i have our own laptop with itunes for both of our 3g iphones... her laptop keeps crashing and would like to know if it's possible for her to sign on my laptop using her itunes account.... or would my itunes not reconize her iphone.... thx for all your help
It's not easy to switch the library a device is attached to. If possible you should backup the library from your wife's laptop and restore to an alternate location on your computer. If you can't manage that right now (note a laptop drive can often be mounted in an external drive bay to extract data from it even if the operating system is hosed) then this is an alternative approach...
You should be able to:
Backup the device to your computer.
Transfer the purchases into a library authorized for the accounts used on the device.
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer.
Restore the device from the backup.
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

I appear to have two separate Apple IDs and to have purchased music under both of them (one is my husband's email account, the other is mine). Is there a way to consolidate them, or is it possible to make the purchases made under two separte IDs downloadable on the same device(s)?
Not at this time. There is no way to merge two Apple IDs or be signed into the iTunes Store with more than one Apple ID at a time on an iOS device. However, you can USB sync the music to more than one device at a time, no problem. As long as all the music is on the same computer.

Some f___ing program change my FireFox home page which was set-up just the way I work and the way I like. I once wrote down the URL so if this happened again I could just type it in and then drag the URL over to the little house and it would restore my page. Now I can't find the URL, its bee so long since I used and now I'm stuck. I have lost all my items as I had them set-up. Any help in finding that old URL would be most appreciated.
Can you remember what that page looked like?
Was this a customized Google or Yahoo page?
You can check the History (History > Show All History) and possibly the cache (about:cache) to see if some page looks familiar.

I just lost all my contacts and pictures from vacation trying to download them to my computer because my phone reset to my origional sitting. Is there a way to reset my phone back to today date or recover my pictures?
In short. No, you cannot unsync. If you had a back up from your old iPhone you cand restore from a back up.
In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Devices > and select the latest back up.
Before you synced your phone did you have it set up with the PhotoStream or iCloud? The pictures would be saved there. Or if you had them sync to a file on your computer. -
Firefox doesn't exactly crash while I'm using it. The thing is that when I close it and reopen it, it says it crashed and offers to restore the previous session. To my knowledge, this didn't happen until after I had the "Live Security Platinum" virus and removed it. Firefox is also very, very slow. Has anyone else had this particular problem?
Hi there, sorry about your problems. It could be that the virus remover didn't fully clean up Firefox.
Try the Reset Firefox feature, which should restore it back to a normal working state without removing your personal data such as bookmarks: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems?s=reset+firefox&r=0&e=es&as=s#os=mac&browser=fx13 -
How can I speed it up or are the pictures just lost?
I suggest plugging your iPhone into a wall socket, and letting it sit for many hours (while connected to WiFi).

The message that comes up when I click on "TomTom Home Install" is "You cannot open Home Install because Power PC applications are no longer supported." Does this mean that the TomTom, which is absolutely vital to my life - well, not literally but you know what I mean - can no longer be used with my MacBook Pro? Does Apple want to drive us into using PCs or what is going on? Is there a driver or some other clever means of making the TomTom work as they used to work with Macs? This is an urgent question - please help if you can! Thanks. Bill

What that means is that is can't be used with Lion 10.7. PowerPC was the chip Apple used up until 2006 when they switched to Intel. At that point, they created the Rosetta emulator to allow for PPC support for 5 years. They finally dropped the support with the release of Lion. It will only work with OS X 10.6 or earlier. The other option is to purchase a new GPS, which can be had for $100 for a decent one. -
My iPhone froze when it was doing the initial setup of iCloud on iOS5
I take it you didn't read the warning prior to updating the phone. It said that you need to backup before upgrading. You have two ways. 1) load apps off your old computer. 2) Download apps one at a time. Your apps are still tide to your account and you will not be charged.

Before I commit the time and energy required to load and tag faces in 25,000 images within iPhoto, I need some questions answered;
Is there any way to force iPhoto to present faces by folder for tagging rather than randomly? When so many images need tagging, over many years, the context of a folder helps with the identification. The work around is to load the images into iPhoto one folder at a time and do the tagging then.
How do I get iPhoto to present the tagged faces by last name rather than first name? When so many faces will be identified, it is much easier to find people by surname, particularly when I share the library within the family. The work around is to enter names as last name and first name. Being able to toggle the sort is much more desireable.
Is there a way to export a portion of the library including faces? I want to pass on portions of this huge 125 GB library to my family members.
Since my family members will need an Apple computer to view the images and faces, they will likely have their own photo library. So is there any way to combine two libraries and merge the faces?
About 2/3 of my images have been scanned, so the date of creation is the scanned date rather than the date the photo was taken. Will this mess up any sequencing or the retrieval of faces? If I want to carve off part of a library, I presume the way to do this is to make a copy of the library using PLM then go into iPhoto and delete what I don't want. The result is the carved off portion.
You don't need Library Manager to delete the portion you don't want.
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
If I want to merge two libraries, PLM implies that it will do this but will the Faces be merged too?
I believe so. -
I've just synched my new iPhone 4s and lost my videos and photos as I opted not to save them when prompted - is there any way to restore these files?
No. Not if you didn't have them backed up somewhere.
