I have one it works fine. yeah, the Mac instructions aren't great. Try this.
(1) make sure you have your VCR audio and video outputs connected to the side with the two selection switches.
(2) be sure you know the difference between the audio and video outputs no matter which colors you use.
(3) make sure the indicator light is green on cable that connects to your computers firewire port.
(4) when you operate the vcr through Imovie. you will only be able to play your vhs tape. so to fast forward or reverse. you must use your vcr remote or your hand.
(5) to import your footage just click on import in imovie.
That should solve your problem. Also, in the future put these questions in the imovie forum.

Is It normal that my premium category 15" retina MBPs screen has ghosting issues, and I get declined from screen replacement?
I have purchased this hardware in Budapest for approximately 3000 usd. I was a bit shocked to see screen ghosting after a few days of use. The problem was getting worse but because I am a design consultant working mainly on my Mac I couldnt take a week off to leave It at an Apple service station.
Last week I was surprised to receive the information from the local Apple repair shop in Germany that my retina MBP that I bought 13 months ago was declined from screen replacement by Apple.
Considering the price of the product I find It unacceptable that I need to work on a defective product and see shadows every time I leave an Illustrator or InDesign window open for a short period of time.
Is there any way to resolve this issue? I wouldnt like to pay another 800 dollars just to replace a component on my defective Apple product.Contact Apple Support directly. In Germany the Expresslane or this number

Mind you, AppleCare and issues with Apple products like this have to occur without any user accidents or user installed parts to ensure that Apple will cover you. If there was a user accident or installed part, you may be turned down. If you have the original Apple parts, and did the installation yourself, replace it with the original parts very carefully following the directions on http://www.ifixit.com/ unless you can afford an authorized service provider to do it for you. Since we don't speak for Apple here, being end users like yourself, that's why I say "may", as I've seen Apple handle these things on a case by case basis. So hopefully you don't have any obvious damage that looks like it is user caused. Good luck! -

Three hours if definitely NOT normal. I get at least 48 hours out my 2 year old iPhone 4S' battery with light usage. Did you do the iOS 7 update on the phone it self (OTA) or through iTunes? In my experience most problems are caused by the OTA updates. For this reason I ALWAYS update using iTunes on my computer.
I would suggest restoring your phone using iTunes on your computer and setting it us as a new phone. This downloads a fresh copy of iOS 7.1 from Apple and installs it on your phone. Just make sure that you transfer all purchased items (apps, music, etc.) as well as photos to your computer before restoring as the restore will completely wipe your phone. Do not restore from a back-up. Yes, you will loose all your data on the phone but restoring a back-up can restore the problem you are currently having back to your phone. Once your phone has been restored you can manually sync back your apps and music.
Before restoring you can also check to see that battery-killers like Location Services, Background App Refresh, etc are only turned on for the apps that really need it. I recently read and article that said that the Facebook app can be a real battery killer. If you have this app installed turn of location services and background app refresh for this app and see if that helps. Also go to Settings / General / Restrictions / Location Services / System Services and turn off all the options in that menu. Your phone does not need any of those to function. Constantly using your phone's GPS is a huge battery killer. I only have Location Services enabled for Find my iPhone and Background App Refresh is turned off completely.

My children just got iPods touch. I registered them on my account so they can have acces to my I tunes Acc. Now they have all my list of contacts receive my messages have my music my pics, also when they install an app like pandora they have all my stations, things that they don't want. How can I fix this.
As for iMessage, you do Settings -> Messages (scroll down) -> where it says iMessage, turn the switch to off.
As for pictures, you do Settings -> iCloud -> Photo Stream -> My Photo Stream -> turn switch off.
As for apps, you do Settings -> iTunes & App Stores (scroll down alot) -> Music, Apps, Books are all swtiched off.
If you want to the delete the music, you go onto the music app and slide your finger from right to left on the song. -

Apps designed for iOS do not run on OS X....
But... media files should still run if that's that you mean.

I have just got iTunes match. It appears that since joining and starting it some tunes have been deleted from my library. They are shown in the listing but iTunes can no longer locate the files. Any suggestions?
If they are showing in the Videos app with a cloud then go into Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and set Videos (under the 'Show All') heading 'off' - you might (depending upon which country that you arein) have a similar button for music and the Music app.

So if you still have your iPhone 4S backup in order and ready to use, you might try:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings
... and then start the iPhone 5S setup once again.
It could be that the original seller did not set up the iPhone quite right. -
I'm not really a computer guy. I just got a Kodak"easy share" camera. When I import the photos they go to the section with my name in a folder. How do I get them from there to iphoto, or better yet, how can i import them directly to iphoto?? As stated, I'm not knowledgable,have an imac and need real rudimentary direction.
in the iPhoto preferences be sure the action when camera is connected is open iPhoto
What program are you using to import the photos?
If they are in a folder you can drag that folder onto the iPhoto icon in the dock to import - our launch iPhoto and under the file menu import from that folder

Firefox doesn't store email addresses except as form data; data that you typed previously into Firefox.

When it gets bad enough, you will need to replace the screen.
Your warranty covers defects in material and workmanship.
That sounds like accidental damage -- glass does not tend to crack spontaneously.
Check your homeowners insurance to see if there might be coverage.
