Just got an iPod nano and cannot select sync option

I am trying to set up my new iPod nano and am trying to set it up. My son also has an iPod set up on my computer. I am trying to sync and cannot highlight sync option. Am I doing something wrong?

I just got an ipod nano and noticed i had Itunes on my computer. My boyfriend had downloaded it for him a while ago on the computer with his own music. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes has no affect on the media on the computer or the account it is linked to.
If the media was purchased under another iTunes account, then it is permanently tied to that account.

My wife has just got a iPod Nano and I have a Ipod Mini

My wife has just bought herself an iPod Nano and I have a Mini-iPod.
However she plugged in her Nano and it opened my iTunes and attempted to put on the album artwork for my albums.
I have told her to reset to factory settings but I have a question.
Do we have to install the disc again for a seperate iTunes or is there another way to register her iPod with my copy of iTunes?

If you have the latest iTunes, an easy way to create a new library is to hold down the 'alt' key whilst opening iTunes (for Macs), or hold down the 'shift' key (for Windows).
This will give you the option of either using the current iTunes library or creating a new one.
There are various methods of transferring different songs to different iPods with a single iTunes library.
One is to manage the songs manually.
With this setting, you can drag and drop songs/playlists etc onto the iPod from iTunes, and also delete and/or edit songs which are currently on the iPod without affecting the iTunes library.
If you wish to keep the convenience of automatic sync, then you could set the iPods to sync with "selected playlists". This setting can be found in the iPod summary screen under the 'music' tab. With this setting, different playlists can be transferred and later deleted from each iPod without affecting any playlists stored in iTunes or the playlists on the other iPods.
Also, on the 'summary' main page you will see the option to "only sync checked items". With this setting selected, if you remove the check marks from any songs in iTunes, they will not be transferred to the iPod. You can restore the check mark if you want to put the songs back on the iPod at a later date.
Be aware that when playing songs in iTunes, any songs that do not have a check mark against them will be skipped over and will not be played.

I just got my ipod shuffle and it wont sync

Ok, i had itunes on my computer and i use to have a video. I dont have the video anymore but i use the itunes alot. I just got a shuffle and when i hooked it up it told me that my version was to old so I abdated it. Then after everything was done i hooked up the shuffle again but it will not work. Something pops up that says ipod needs to be updated then i clicked it took awhile but it said it couldnt be updated. The ipod cant syn for somereason. Why?

Connect your Nano to your computer, in iTunes if you do not get a pop-up box that says there is an update available move to the Summary tab and click Update.

I am sorry to upset you, but what I am describing here is exactly what is happening.
If your 6th Gen Nano turns off when the screen goes dark, then that is because the Nano has not detected the headset as inserted. That is what is is supposed to do under 1.1 in order to save battery power. If it does not detect a headset, it pauses the Nano when the screen darkens.
The question is WHY is it not detecting the headset. My post above completely explores the ways to solve your problem. If after doing what I describe it still does not work, then you should take it to the Apple store since the physical headset jack may have a defect.

Your nano would really have nothing to do with it at that point. It is really something between iTunes and whatever server out there on the internet that it is trying to connect to for the update.
Try posting this one in the iTunes forum, they might have a solution for you.

I took it back to best buy and they said it had a defulted battery, and that I needed to call the company. So I did and they had me send it in. Will they send me a new ipod, or a refurbished one. - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar
