Just got FiOS installed today and was given a horrible DVR. Is this normal?
The box is a Motorola QIP6416-2. After an endless installation, I finally got to sit down and play with my new service and was shocked that:
The DVR guide was not in HD. It's pillarboxed, fuzzy and very hard to read.
The performance of the interface is glacial. It often chokes during usage, queuing up button presses then performing them all at once. Just flipping through the guide is painful.
The signal is limited to 1080i. I'm probably just mistaken, but I swear I read that FiOS was 1080p.
The picture is not particularly crisp despite what Verizon claims in its adverts. The HD channels I looked at had a softness to them (though no pixelation).
The guide itself is terribly designed, just an awful, awful user experience. I can't believe I'm saying that after coming from Time Warner Cable's DVR!
A quick Google search turned up complaints about this DVR from 2010; that's like 15 years in technology!
I spoke to a Verizon rep and he said that I can upgrade to a 7216 (He offered this VERY reluctanlty and insisted he had to justify it by saying my current DVR was defective. **bleep**?), but he swore up and down that all of the above issues would exist on all boxes. He also mentioned the ability to pay an upgrade fee for a 7232 500GB box, but said it would only buy more storage and not better performance.
Any suggestions or advice about the various models and which I should be looking to get?
So far, not a great experience with FiOS, I'm disappointed.

Nope. The 7232 has more memory (although the same size drive), has a faster CPU and newer chipsets. It is also "greener" using less power.
Also most 7216's now going out have 500gb drives instead of the original 160bg. And probably all are refurbished rather than new.

I was online earlier this week and liked the forms with submit buttons and the Adobe site directed me to upgrade to Adobe PRO XI in order to use forms so I bought five licenses. Just had it installed today and it is now asking me to sign up for forms Central in order to use this feature. What gives? The Adobe site gave me the impression that I would have this feature after purchasing the new upgrade. I would not have purchased the upgrade, let alone five of them had I know this. Am I missing something?
Acrobat XI comes with the Fromscentral AIR application and the ability to create PDF forms authored in Formscentral. To have more than the free (1 form with 50 responses) level account you need to sign up for a Formscentral subscription.

I tried to import some photos into iPhoto today and was given a messaged indicating I'm out of room?! I only have 11,800 pics in my library and have been told iPhoto can hold up to 250,000. Help!
Command (right) - click on your hard drive icon on the Desktop and select Get Info from the contestual menu:

I just got my iPhone today from Sprint and connected it to iTunes but it's telling me iTunes was unable to load provider data from sync services. My Safari works somewhat fine but my apps won't load... what's wrong? They're able to start up and then they tell me they're unable to connect. My e-mail that was supposed to be set up earlier disconnected and wouldn't work until I reconnected my wifi and worked for a moment I believe. Now on the bottom of my inbox it keeps saying "checking for mail..." On top of that I think my safari randomly slows down at times because when I started typing this I could move around websites fine and now it's barely loading.
Time for a restore. Once you do make sure you set the phone up as a new iPhone.

New iPod Nano 6th generation just got it going today. It is fully charged but shuts off a few seconds into a song, what do I do?
I received mine yesterday as replacement for 1st generation and yes I had exactly the same problem.
I don't think it is anything to do with headphone plug [jack].
I played around with the settings and have just managed to listen to three hours without problem.
Music settings; shake to shuttle off, sound check off, double click - play/pause, audio cross fade and group compilation on. Can't be all these but trial and error as to which one - unfortunately it came without instructions.
The only other thing was that I had it in pocket while i was moving whereas yesterday I was sat at desk with nano at rest.

got my iphone5 today and its not letting me text or phone or use the internet on it. is there an amount of time i am meant to leave it until i will be able to use this as a phone!
What did your carrier say when you contacted them about the problem?

My ipod went totally dead. I have had it plugged in charging for 45 mintues. It just has a lit up screen and won't shut off? Is this normal? What do I do?

Have had an ipad mini for 6 months and it has been connecting perfectly to the home wifi but it has just stopped connecting this evening and all other devices seem to be OK.
Just got a new iphone today and wonder if that has had an effect but that is connecting OK as is my laptop.
Any help would be appreciatedProblem was fixed by rebooting the ipadmini using on/off switch on the side of the ipad

with PS 5 design suite. Will try to figure out how to download PS updates and manually apply them.
Adobe person walked me thru a download process for PS 5....last night.
After 2:30 am I installed PS 5 design suite. I now have a PS 5 D.S. icon with a red disc on desktop..
but am unable to install it. Will continue to search for way to apply it. thanks again. -
Help! My sister just got her iPhone 4. She was told that it was kept for almost a year. She has been charging it for almost 6 hours! Still, it is only 7% charged. Is it normal? How long will it take to charged it fully??? Thanks!
Not sure what "being kept" means. If it means it was new in the box and not used for a year then the battery is probably near dead as lithium ion batteries need excercise (a full charge cycle per month). If this is what you mean she will need to put a new battery in it.

Just got the micro today and having total problems
i went to best buy today and got the zen micro, ever sence i turned it on i had problems
songs wont transfer onto it, i've tried real player, the software that came with it and wmp (in witch i totaly hate windows so that didnt work)
now, i turn on my micro and it gives me a screen that says "select music to PLAY from the music library" and i cannot do a thing about it besides going to recovery mode witch didnt help ether....someone help please!
i added a test song on it but it still wont show up....upgrade the firmware to the non-beta 2.0 firmware, and use windows media player 0 to sync files.

Just got an imac today and some problems
Love the way it looks but I have some problems.
1. I cannot get online. I have my old g4 here and i have a cable modem. I've been online for years and have never ben asked for info. Now I try to get online with the imac and it's asked for a DHCP client ID or any PPPoE info . Both of which I don't have an answer for.
2. I'm trying to transfer all my files from my G4 to my Imac. I have the firewire cable hooked up and for some reason, the G4 isn't recognizing the firewire cable - even when I restart while holding the T down.
Ugh.You may need to consult your cable company for the correct login information if you're using a cable modem. Your new Mac doesn't know how it's supposed to connect.
If you have a router you can enable DHCP and the router will do the rest. If you're using a modem then you need to enter the correct PPPoE settings in order to connect to your service provider. -

Where were your contacts stored? On the SIM? Or in a Google account? Or what?
If the former, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Import SIM Contacts, if your previous phone uses the same size SIM card (Micro SIM) as your iPhone, and you have put it in your iPhone.
If the latter, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account, put in your credentials, and make sure Contacts is ON. -
Is there any way to use Airdrop between Imac and Ipad air?
I cant quite believe thatthe two are not interlinked!!? or am i missing something? i can pick up iphone on the ipad, ipad on the iphone but pick neither up on the imac or the imac on the ipad or iphone. Can anyone shed any light on this?AirDop on the Mac is a different tech than AirDrop on the iPhone and iPad. At this time, there is no interaction between thew different AirDrops.
It is a little confusing that they are called the same, but are in fact different.
Why Apple did this, I can't say. Maybe in the future it will be possible. -
my iPhone was stolen. I just got a new one and am trying to backup my contacts and data from iCloud. How do you do that?
If your backup is in iCloud, and your new iPhone is already set up, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go throught the setup screens on the iPhone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. (If it isn't set up yet, just choose this option when setting it up.)
Be sure your iPhone it connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.
