Just got ipod 3G, BIG difference between Ipod Touch 1G and 3G

#1....the speakers and volume controls make a big difference.
#2....the speed is also a major difference, My TV apps play more smoothly on the 3G than the 1G. The 1G would NOT play TV channels without the picture continuously stopping and starting.
#3....the appearance of the 3G seems like it is thinner, it looks more expensive.
#4.....I also heard that there is a deactivated FM transmitter inside the 3G so when the next update comes, it will include the ability to play fm radio.
I waited for a year and a half for this update and it was worth the wait even without a camera. I will probably buy the ipod nano for the camera.

it'd be nice if the FM transmitter rumour is true, but don't go holding your breath (i think if this week's lack of camera update has taught us anything, it's taught us not to expect any rumours to be true!) i'm not entirely sure why they'd put a deactivated fm transmitter in there and not activate it straightaway, but stranger things have happened.
i too have upgraded from a 1G to a 3G, and will agree with you on all those points. although points 1 and 3 were true for the 2G as well.

  • Is there a big difference between the 2.6 and the 3.0?

I am getting a macpro, and will be doing video editing with final cut. Should I spend extra for the 2 3G processors or will the 2.6 prove to be enough power for editing with final cut?

Yes the 2.66GHz is powerful enough for video editing.
Be aware that while the 3GHz is "13% more powerful" for the most part you won't notice a difference as this difference will only come into play when your cores are being saturated which they won't be. While you're editing the difference will actually be in the low single digits if anything at all.
Now, when it comes to encoding and high continuous processing the difference will be noticed. Again, not rhe full 13% as this would require a full multi-threaded efficiency of FCS and Mac OS X which there isn't. You will get around a 8-10% difference though. So, on a 10 hour encode you're looking to save less than an hour on that time. Whether that's worth the difference to you I have no idea.
If you budget is tight then you're better off spending that money on the ATi X1900 XT, RAM and hard drives.

  • Big differences between LR 2.2 and Canon DPP 3.5

LightRoom 2.2 with ACR 5.2 and Camera Profile Standard (that of Canon )
DPP 3.5.1 with same Picture Style (standard)
Opening of the same raw (shot with 5D II) without touching nothing

why those huge differences ? it seems LR set 1000 kelvin less (both WB

btw. DPP is more close to the reality... temperature was very "orangish"

  • Is there a big difference between MSI K8N SLI and MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboa

i am a bit tight on budget, so I was wondering if I should get the MSI K8N SLI motherboard instead of the MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboard (my previous choice),.......what do u guys say ?

    Hi,
Note that he is not talking about the Neo4 versions, looks like in the US MSI has different products:
    Here is the K8N SLI:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=681
And here is the K8N NEO4 SLI:
    http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4/SLI&class=mb
One has Sound blaster, the other does not.
Besides, K8N SLI Platinum has only one LAN.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=641
While the Neo4 Platinum has two.
    http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum/SLI&class=mb
A bit confusing right !? Remember that this forum is accessed by people all over the world.
The thing is that the Neo4 and the related non-Neo are using the same BIOS AFAIK.

  • Hey guys, I was wondering ... is there a big difference between the 16 gig ram and the 8 gig for the retina series?? hardest thing I do on a laptop is play need for speed on 1080p resolution.... thanks

hey guys I was wondering ... will there be a big difference between the 8 gig and 16 gig versions of the pro retina series??? the hardest thing i do is play need for speed and program using c++...thanks

That RAM is soldered in. No sockets. No upgrading later.
    Your question is:
¿Will I EVER need the 16GB in the time I expect to own this MacBook?
--NO, save $200 and if you ever run short, sell the machine and buy a different one.
--ELSE, spend the extra US$200 and don't think about it again.

  • Big Difference between Catalog and Nocatalog

    Hi,
i´m always facing the discussion, what is the big difference between using a catalog and nocatalog
i start with the points i know. could somebody please add some points? Thanks
    (+) Catalog
    1. All Controlfiles could be lost (but if you have controlfile autobackup it should not be a great problem without the catalog)
    2. keep forever backup (controlfiles yould only save information up to 365 days)
    3. many database backups could be administrated inside the catalog (but what if yoiu want to know: which of my 100 databases are not backed up yesterday?)
    4. ....?
(-) i had some crash scenarios that worked only without catalog
    (-) backup of the catalog
(-) another database on another server
    Thanks
    Marco

    Hi,
Using catalog you have the advantage to keep global RMAN script. Those scripts can be run against any of the databases registered in the catalog.
You can use following command to see the script if already written and stored in catalog:
RMAN > print script "local_script_name.rcv" ; [specific to your database and would run against your database]
RMAN > print global script "script_name.rcv"; [global script which can run on all the database registered with catalog]
    Thanks
    Sumit.

  • Difference between logic pro 7 and 8

I'm just wondering if there's a difference between the Logic Studio ($500), and Logic Pro 8..or does Logic Pro 8 simply come within the Logic Studio package? Is there a big difference between Logic Pro 7 and 8? Also, is it worth the $200 upgrade?

    Hi,
Logic Studio: Logic Pro 8, Soundtrack Pro and MainStage.
So yes, Logic Pro 8 is part of the 'Logic Studio' package, which also contains the two other apps.
    http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/
Take a look at the Logic Pro 8/Logic Studio forum. There are mixed opinions on whether it is worth upgrading yet or not.
    Good Luck!

with system level privilege user can create objects such as creating tables, view, synonyms etc
where as in object privilege we can only manipulate operations on object i.e perform dml not ddl There are some system privileges that only concern manipulating objects: SELECT ANY TABLE, for example.
The main difference is that the system-level privileges tend to cover all objects of a certain type, including objects that haven't been created yet.
Object-level privileges usually apply only to one specifi object, such as one particular table, and are lost if the object is dropped. (For example, if I create a table called table_x, give you SELECT pivileges on it, then you can query my table. But if I then drop table_x and re-create it, you will not be able to see it unless I grant the privilege again.)

  • Difference between vmx swap file and vswp file

    Hi Guys,
Just want to know the difference between vmx swap file and vswp file. are these same files or different.
    regards
    VINAY

The confusion is caused because of the name VMX which we take for granted as the .vmx file which stores the configuration file. First of all the VMX here stands for VM eXecutable and not the same as  the .vmx file in the virtual machine directory .
when we are running a virtual machine , there comes some basic overheads , ie the processes required to boot the virtual machine , keep it up and running and the agents consume some amount of memory and processing power in addition to the actual load  created by the OS application running on the VM.
the VM swap file is there to enable the VM's guest OS to consume less physical memory than the configured memory
the VMX swap file is there to reduce the memory reserved for the VMX process , ie the overhead which we discussed right now .
ie the VM swap is the internal matter of a VM where as the VMX swap file is the responsibility of our VMkernel
hope it helps , correct me if I am wrong or confusing

  • Could someone tell me the differences between ipod 4g released in January and the new iPod 4g released other than iOS5 ?

I just bought an iPod touch from NewEgg which said it was the latest iPod. When I opened it, I couldn't find iMessage. So when I checked the version, it was 4.3.5. Just want to know the differences between both iOS5 and earlier one, other than of course the OS. Wondering whether to return it or upgrade the OS to iOS5.

The OS really is the only different thing.
An iPod Touch 4th generation will still be an iPod Touch 4th generation no matter what OS you have running on it.
If you want to know more of the feature of iOS 5 then you can check here: http://www.apple.com/ios/.
You also don't need to return the product if you want the latest OS. You can do it yourself through iTunes.

If it is the release date... ok, cool, then which is the newer?
I just bought the two of them used and want to give my daughter the better one
    Thanks

Thanks, I know they're for the most part the same, but...
I did a bit of googling myself before asking... but I could only find reference to the MC544LL release and not really any tech info on the PC544LL release.

  • Difference between Ipod mini 1st Generation & 2nd Generation?

Wondering the difference between a 1st generation and 2nd generation ipod mini? If you had a choice which would you pick and why? thanks for your help!

    Hi harpo,
see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300850 for a full description and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61688#ipodmini for an illustration of visual differences.
As well as the differences already mentioned, they came with different accesories (the original model came with a FW charger and FW cable as well as the usb cable) . The original model can also be used with earlier versions of OSX than the later one.
