Just got itunes on my computer.cannot get previously purchased music

Just installed itunes onto my new computer. tried to download music that i had on an old computer that had quite an old version of itunes. but i have no record of it on my new computer. tried going into ''purchased'' in itunes store and tried authorizing the new computer but nothing is working. not sure what to do now. can anybody help?

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you are in (and whether you've changed countries since buying it and if it's still in your country's store). Does music show as a category via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage ? If not then you will need to copy your music from your old computer or from your backup of your library/downloads

Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

I cannot find a way to authorize my new computer to play previously purchased music from itunes.  The directions say to click on STORE menu, but I don't see that option.

Go to the Store menu item on the menu bar, and choose Authorize This Computer, as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help), first enable it by using CTRL+B.

  • TS3297 iTunes error coe 8012: cannot download newly-purchased music from iTunes store.

iTunes error coe 8012: cannot download newly-purchased music from iTunes store.  Anyboy else get this looping error?

    Hey everybody,
I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.
I hope you all find this helpful in solving your problem.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

  • Cannot download previously purchased music

I am trying to download previously purchased music, Darius Rucker True Believer album, to my iPhone 5. I've tried using my LTE connection and WiFi. When I click on the cloud icon, it spins for a few seconds then stops. If I try to stream the song it just goes to the next song that's actually on my iPhone. I get no error message or prompt to sign in with my credentials. Having the same issue with a few other songs. I've downloaded updates and podcasts today so I know my connection is working.
I am not using iTunes Match.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    OK.
Not sure what your question is.  The error message explains it pretty well.

  • How does one authorize another computer to play previously purchased music?

I have recently downloaded a ITunes software on a new computer. I would like to authorize the computer to listen to previously purchased music.
My understanding is that we can share music on Itunes on up to five computers.
I woud appreciate if someone could share a document on how to authorize mulitple computer to a single account.
    Thank you

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Just got a new mac computer and none of the music from my old computer's itunes transfered when I transfered the contents of the hard drive.  Now I'm trying to transfer music from my ipod and can't get all the files....help?

Just got a new  computer and none of the music from my old computer's itunes transfered when I transfered the contents of the old hard drive.  Now I'm trying to transfer music from my ipod and can't get all the files....help please?

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to purchase a third partyn program to get the rest ( not supported by Apple)

    Hey CrystalKean,
Thanks for the question. If you have purchased content on your iPhone that has not yet been transferred to your computer, see the following article:

  • Authorizing computer for downloading previously purchased music

How do I authorize a computer to download the music I purchased on my iPad?

It sounds like you aren't doing this right.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
You will have to contact iTunes Customer service about possibly getting a refund.

  • New computer with 8.1, pop up says I must authorize computer to download previously purchased music. How do I do this?

    D

    Hello bsmith1039,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can use these steps to authorize your computer to play and downlad iTunes Store purchases:
Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
    From:
Authorize your computer in iTunes - Apple Support
    Best Regards,

  • HT201317 Just got an iPad.  I cannot get my photo stream photo's to download

I had Photo stream set up for my iPhone and it works fine.  I want to download all the photo's to my iPad.  Went to Genius Bar today, no help.  Anyone?

Photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days, even though they remain on your device (up to 25,000 photos) until you delete them.  When you enable photo stream on your iPad you will only get photos added to your photo stream during the last 30 days (as the others have been deleted).  If you want to get the others on your iPad you can either save them to your camera roll on your phone (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing your iPad.  Or, a more convenient way to do this is to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them between your devices over wifi.

  • My itunes library says it cannot locate previously downloaded music

I'm preparing to copy my itunes library to an old ipod then to my new pc, and when checking several of my previously downloaded cd's, Itunes says it can no longer locate the files.  When you click to locate, it cannot find those.  I'm at 27+ cd's now and I've not checked everything.  It's changing on a daily basis and continues to loose more music.
