Just got my 1 Gig Zen V .

And all I can say is WOW. What a great piece of hardware, and the software for it is equally impressi've. Now I have a question. Is it possible to get the software from the Zen V to work for my 20 Gig Touch? (or doubtful - my old Jukebox 3)?It is very simple and quick. Anyone know?Eric

Thank you both. I kind of figured as much. It is definitely not dampening my enthusiasm anyway. The wife made me turn it off last might so I could get some sleep.By the way, I had read a while back that the V series does not use the ID3 tags for album art. That is totally incorrect. If you have the cover in the tag, it shows up on the screen as the song is playing. I have to go look at accessories now. Eric

  • Just got an 8 gig Zen MicroPhoto and love it! Just some suggestions tho

Hi everyone, my friend was considering a Zen Vision M and an Ipod video. I kinda suggested the Zen so he got it and absolutely loves it.
After seeing how nice the Zen Vision M is, I jumped on this MicroPhoto when I saw a sale and it is awesome!
The Zen MicroPhoto is a really good device, but just simple firmware stuff could make it a great one.
.) Ability to view pictures + listen to music
2.) Ability to view movies and video (the Muvo has smaller capacity and a screen with less colors and it can? Yet we are buying a nicer mp3 player than the Muvo but can't do video? The Sansa is small as hell and it can. It has the screen, hardware wise it should be able to do it, and if this is added through a firmware update, it won't be on the packaging and thus will not hurt sales of your other products.
I hate it when an awesome product is created and is capable of something and the manufacturer slashes that ability from it intentionally.
Another good example is the Gen III Ford Taurus SHO, its 3.4 liter Yamaha V8 was capable of revving well over 7500RPM and producing more than 30hp. Ford however, even though they had this jewel of an engine, intentionally cut its ability down to 235hp or else they feared it would be faster than their Mustang GT. What a shame, I hate to see that Creative is doing the same with the MicroPhoto.
3.) Ability to record FM with the latest firmware (If this is a RIAA issue, then please provide two firmwares and two download links, one that says "United States Users" and one that says "Non-US users"
4.) Ability to control different aspects of the glowing blue LEDs. They are obviously firmware controlled and can have brightness adjusted since they glow in and out when you have it plugged into the USB cable.
5.) Make it show up on your computer as a removable disk. On all my other MP3 players, it showed up just like a flash dri've and you could drag and drop whatever you wanted onto it, and it would just play whatever files on there it could play. Here, it won't let me drag and drop anything that is copy protected or is a different file type.
I know you can set aside 4 gigs of that for this purpose, but with the size of the files and videos I transfer, it would be nice if I could use all 8 gigs. Perhaps an option to just let the whole thing show up as a removable flash dri've?
*ok... I just tried it and that seems to be working on this computer that is Windows XP SP2 with WMP, but on the school computer that was XP SP2 with WMP0, it would not allow me to do this.

I think you will find that the reason the MicroPhoto is on sale is that it is now a legacy player (it was released before anybody could play video). I doubt very much that any further improvements will be coming....
EQ does have an effect... Maybe you earphones are not working well?

  • Worried That I Just got a faulty Creative Zen 4GB. Tell me I am wro

    Hey there,
Just got my second creative player and having enjoyed the previous mp3 player?product, also the sound cards/speakers and all sorts I've got off them over the years. Im concerned that they have let me down this time... I just got a Creative Zen 4GB and I noticed a strange rattling sound from inside the player, this seems?wierd for a device with no moving parts etc what could it be? is the device faulty or are they all like this?
Tell me I don't have to send it back!

    Thanks for the replies,
I have contacted Creative, and they do advise to send it back, which I will do.
The rattling I hear is when I shake the player slightly, Im sure its a loose battery. They really should have devised a better way of fixing the battery in. Because I might use it out running and exercising so having the battery rattling around might damage the player further. I've decided to send it back to the site I got it from and just get it from a shop instead, less hassle with returning items.
I believe the battery is suppose to be fixed down with simple sticky tape, looking at the really useful link thats posted above, it seems to confirm it. Quite a crude method if you ask me, for a product of its price level.

  • Just got my 30 gig!  Quick question

I just fot my Ipod today and i love it! Someone told me that these models have the same problem that the nanos had with the screen. Is this true? I haven't seen any posts here about it. But when it happened to the nano i saw tons of posts. So i am hoping that he is incorrect! I probably won't be putting a screen protector on it. They usually make the screens a little darker and not as nice. So i never put them on. But i always take extreme care of my stuff, so i usually don't need them. Any info will be appreciated!

had mine since 10/17 and seems fine no scratching. I also take great care of it.

  • Just got teased on a Zen 32 gb purchase, whats going o

I saw that the Zen 32 gb?were available, and was in the middle of buying it, when the friggin?page gave me a cart empty page. What's going on? Are there going to be any more available? :mansad:

Yeah, I'd like to know about this too. I was so excited for it and I was going to buy it then the next day they were sold out. The last time they sold out they went on back order very soon after, so what's the deal? Will there be more available or are we going to have to wait for months? And I've heard Creative is only selling 500. Is that true? If so, there will be a lot of disappointed people who wanted one, I bet.

  • 30 gig ZEN NX battery quest

I just got a 30 gig ZEN NX today and i am curious about the battery. On the first charge is the battery icon suppost to be the charging one or the powerplug one? On mine it seems to be the powerplug one. So is my zen detecting the battery at all and charging charging it or just running off the power and not doing anything to the battery?

Assuming the battery isn't full, it should be the charging icon.
If you remove the mains adapter what charge level i shown?
If the battery is not fully charged then follow the advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

I can't select icloud backup on my iphone 5, i've got 4.5 gig of available storage and this just started 2 weeks ago, I've tried deleting a couple of apps, signing out, rebooting, all to no avail.  The button stays grayed out and will not let me select.  Any ideas on how to solve this?

  • Just got my zen micro, scratched battery co

    Hi folks,
Ive just got my zen micro, despite it being brand new and being shrink wrapped, the back battery cover is covered in hairline scratches (you can only see them in a certain light) however its driving me nuts as im very fussy about these things
is there anywhere i can get a replacement? i rang support and the guy was like no! he didnt seem to care my apparently brand new micro looked damaged?
Also i find the sound quality poor on some mp3s, a bit 'scratchy' i suppose and they sound perfect on my pc?

    Catherina,
Thank you for the swift response i appreciate it, re the sound quality its probably just the mp3s maybe and i will look into your suggestions, thank you
regarding the player, i bought it in the O2 experience on Grafton street, they wont replace it for the scratches as they say, rightly i suppose, that i could have scratched between thursday and today.
Im sure i havent tho as i never out anything like that in a pocket with anything else, and i noticed the scratches straight away.
Its odd as the rest of the player is immaculate as it should be but the battery cover looks quite worn.
If you could organise a replacement id be eternally grateful im living in dublin (as your profile seems to suggest that you do aswell)
I know its a silly thing to get worked up over but its bugging me!
(u are correct, its just the bit that slides on the back)

  • Just Got a Refurb Zen Micro, Can Anyone Please Help - Clic

    Hi all,
Just got a Zen Micro 6GB refurb today, when i first tried it (before hooking upto a PC) the clicker didnt work. I hooked it upto my PC and transferred some tracks, when i disconnected however my device started playing up.
When i turned the device on the screen glowed blue for 5 or so seconds, and then turned off. My first (panicked) thought was that the player was updating its firmware when i had unplugged it, although it didnt mention this anywhere.
What was interesting however was while the device was in this "blue screen" mode, when i scrolled up and down the clicker made a clicking sound, even though i couldnt see what i was scrolling because the screen was dead apart from the backlight. This proved that the clicker did physically work.
I reconnected to the PC in some vein hope of fixing it, and after a couple of on/off cycles it booted, and has worked fine since, however when i set the clicker on it still wont click.
I am interested as to if anyone has any ideas as to how to possibly fix my clicker problem. I know it will physically work as i've heard it click when my device crashed, i reckon a bad firmware flash has stopped my clicker clicking.
Can anyone recommend me a particular firmware please, everyone said to stay away from the latest PlaysForSure firmware on my old Zen Xtra, and apparently it bricked lots of devices, so im a bit apprehensi've about getting the latest release.
If anyone can help me fix my clicker please i would be most grateful as i dont want to send my little player back.
    Thanks!

  • Just got Zen Micro. Need some HE

    Hi!
I just got the Zen Micro (5 GB). I installed the cd, and I'm not sure what firmware is, and if it's already installed or I have to do it myself. I didn't read anything in the instructions that said anything about it. What is it and why do I need it's Where do I get it's I tried to transfer songs, but when I plug in the USB cable to my Zen Micro, it says.. "Player not found". ? Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? Sorry! I'm not very computer or technology savy. So help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Karen

haha thanks for the quick reply!
okay, next Q. do i need to update my firmware? i would assume my zen came with the most updated version since i just bought it. i don't know if it matters where i bought it however. i got it from amazon.com
i did install everything that was on the CD. including things that i already had, such as windows media player and acrobat.
any other suggestions for why it says "Player not found"?
i did reboot and clean up the memory twice to see if it would fix it but to no avail.
also, the screen freezes on me sometimes and i have to reboot. ?
    thanks!

  • Just got Zen Nano Plus -- aweso

    Hey--
So... I just got a Zen Nano Plus yesterday. $60 on Amazon.
It's awesome. It's exactly what I was looking for; while I don't know about the durability, I'm surprised that it came with an arm band and rubber case with a belt clip; I don't think Amazon mentioned those. Anyway, it's great; the FM recording *does* work, and is decent quality. My only complaints would have to be the lack of bookmarks -- while the entire device has resume, you can't resume at a specific point in a file. Hence, if I use it for audiobooks, the second I play something else, I lose my place. On the upside, the folders are awesome. As is the backlight (my last standalone MP3 player -- I normally use my Palm -- was a 28MB RCA Lyra).
I'm using it on my iBook; it shows up as a dri've in the Finder, and, oddly, as a Nomad MuVo in iTunes. However, while iTunes correctly shows how much space is used/left, it only shows the files in the root directory. It'd be neat if they could rig up fake playlists to represent folders... but one of the reasons I bought the ZNP as opposed to a more expensi've/fancier model was that it doesn't need jukebox software to load music.
So far, it works beautifully. I would definitely recommend it, especially at the current price of $55 on Amazon.

It's good to hear that you like your player. Could you post the number of the firmware version that came on your player seeing as it still has FM Recording - Creative removed it and then put it back, but they haven't made the new version available to us old-timers yet. PB

  • Two questions from newbie (just got my Zen Micr

Hi, just got my Zen Micro after reading up on lots of players. Two quick questions if i may:-
. Why the difference in keyboard icons? I notice on some that the 'back' button actually has the word 'back' written on it whereas others only have the arrow.
    2. After i've charged the player (for 5 hours minimum on first charge?) should i immediately update with the two firmware downloads before adding songs?
    Thanks in advance
    Jaff

    jaf089:
. The face plate has changed, presumably for international markets where people don't speak English.
    2. The player will be charged in a maximum of 4 hours. The way to tell its charged is once the charging icon and glow stop, wait another 30 minutes for the final slow charge, then it will be ready.
You don't need to update with two different firmware updates, you can go straight to an update without one beforehand.
The .0.03 update fixes a battery charging bug, if you don't have this already, but allows the player to stay accessible with MediaSource.
The v2 updates give the player MTP access (driverless access with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0). Be warned though, some people have had stability problems with both the connection and software after this upgrade.

  • Just Got New MBP and need to reinstall Software

I just got a 15inch MBP and installed Final Cut Studio 2 which I did not know was 55 gigs. I want to install it on an external HD so I want to reinstall Leopard with my disc I received when I bought my MBP from Apple. Will I still get all of my extras such as ilife with my install disc and will it restore it to factory (as I received it when I first bought it?) Thank you!

An 'erase and install' will remove EVERYTHING from your harddrive, and if you've already got Leopard installed, that's your only option.
Reintalling Leopard will NOT install iLife; to my knowledge there are no Leopard+iLife 08 install DVDs. . . just Leopard DVDS. I may be wrong, as I have an old Mac and not a new one, which may come with a software package I've never seen (but I'm getting my GF a new MBP for Christmas!!). I think you need to (and should have) a seperate iLife 08 disk with which you can reinstall iLife.
A couple of questions and some advice:
-I assume you have at least a 120gb harddrive. Why do you want to install FCP2 onto an extrnal DVD? If you plan to use that space to store media, it would be a better idea to store the media (i.e. the video footage, etc) on an external drive and keep your FCP application on your internal HD.
-Also, if you are going to run FCP on an external HD, get a FIREWIRE 800 external HD. They are quite a bit more expensive, but I had a LOT of problems just using FCP1 to edit footage stored on an external USB HD . .. I can't IMAGINE the problems you would have running FCP2 off of a USB external HD.
-Thinking about it again, where are you going to store your footage? On the same external HD as FCP? I think that will work . . .
    Looking forward to hearing more!

  • The PDF file I just got from my PDF Pack subscription is not right -- why?

I use Word on the Mac. When I save my document as PDF I get a file bloated file almost 1 Gig long. I subscribed to PDF Pack in the hope of getting a cleaner, shorter file. And it is  --  2.1MB  --  ta-dah? NO!! It does not have the formatting that I want, and that my MAC PDF file has when viewed with Adobe Reader. I have carefully formatted my file to get clean ragged margins and good text blocks. But the file I just got from the subscription service is 5 pages longer (which means my Index is wrong), many pages are laid out differently, and ligatures are not used(!). I don't know what other details are wrong, but what I got is unusable. Money down the drain.
Perhaps a forum member has a suggestion.
Why doesn't Adobe provide a simple way to contact an Acrobat expert?

    --| "Contact an Acrobat Expert"
You can visit the Adobe Support "portal" page and find the click through to open a trouble ticket. To get the ball rolling you'll need to provide your credit card information. Rest assured you will get expert support at a rate that reflects it.
Or, here or at Acrobatusers.com you can ask a question where knowledgeable / experienced Acrobat users can provide suggestions or perhaps an answer.
RE: Your question. You are creating a PDF with the online service's heuristics. While adequate for the routinely used "business" cases of documents anything somewhat "custom" can be expected to have an output in the PDF that is not, perhaps, spot on.  As to an Index  -- that's just not going to survive what amounts to a "file conversion".
    Be well...

  • Just got my new Macbook!!

    Hi all,
Insurance came through, and so just got my new Macbook today, and so when my Logic crossgrade comes in the post, I will finally have my mobile setup working again! Time to rebook those gigs too...
Anyway, if anyone would like any benchmarks done, let me know. I'm quite up for pushing this puppy as far as it will go! I only put 1 GIG in as I couldn't afford any more, but will be maxing it out as soon as I can.
Right, back to playing around with Photobooth
    Best, Fred

At the moment, it really is. Very, very fast indeed. Awesome boot speed. I'll let you know more when I get 7.2, fingers crossed and Royal Mail should have it here on Monday. Can't wait
