Just Got My MBP In The Mail!!! Should I Wait?

I just got my FedEx delivery of my new MBP!!! Should I wait until it gets to room temp before I fire it up? It feels really cold since here in Michigan it was 10 degrees overnight and feels like it sat on the truck all night.

Yes, it would be a good idea to let it warm to room temperature. Normal operating range is 15 to 50ºC.

I just got a MBP Retina. At it's highest resolution, everything is tiny. The olny way to get things to a readable size is to lower the rez, but that defeats the purpose of having it. Am I missing something?

It doesn't defeat the purpose to lower the resolution. When you choose the size you can read, the extra pixels are used to make the text and graphics more detailed, closer to the high print resolution humans have been accustomed to reading on paper for hundreds of years. That is the difference compared to the coarse screen resolution of a conventional (non-Retina) screen.

Contrary to the opinion above, I see no reason whatsoever why you can't set up the new iPad from the backup of the old one. Obviously you will have app updates to make and complete and that sort of thing, but if you want to retain all of your app data and device settings (some of which will change because of the updated iOS), I would certainly restore from the backup first.
If you find that to be problematic, you can always start all over again.

She can't from iCloud without setting up your iCloud account on her phone. But just sync the same apps from your iTunes Library on your computer to her phone.
Your wife should setup her own iCloud account - which is separate to the iTunes Store accounts.

Should i return all my apple products and go android instead....help, I want it to work. My firewall is off, ATV2 is running on ethernet and library is on wireless. My ps3 streams just fine over the network, I assume Itunes is at fault?

Just got my MBP from Fedex!

I just got my Mbp from Fedex dubbed 'Dualie'. I am happy to report I do not have the whine! I am currently calibrating the battery and I will report if I have any issues within the next few hrs to days.

I found this site with the recorded whining sound. I had found a better site but can't find it now. I'm expecting my MBP Wednesday. This is going to be my first Mac and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be posting here as soon as I receive my in.

I am locked out of my computer (macbook air) I just got it back from the apple store and they reset it. I put in a new password, and now it doesnt let me log in anymore. Command R doesnt work, all i hear is a sound, but nothing happens.

I put in a new password because i needed to start over from factory settings, but now it doesnt let me log in anymore. (I don't know if this is because it doesnt accpet my password, or I forgot my password in less than 5 minutes, or because when i typed in my new password, i typed it in wrong twice)
Command R doesnt work, all i hear is a sound, but nothing happens.

What I don't understand is why it is rejecting a password I am creating.
Perhaps the password you are creating is too short, or has characters that are not allowed, or is not secure enough because it is a word in a dictionary.
FileVault may have standards for what it considers an acceptable password. If the password is part of the 128-bit encryption scheme, it might have to be 16 characters, for example. (Don't know if that is true, but it's a possibility.) Check your documentation for password requirements.

I just got a warning that the Itunes that I just downloaded (10.6) could impare or destablize my system- I have had Itunes on my computer before but when I plugged in my Ipod it told me I needed to uninstall Itunes and reinstall itunes all together. Now I don't know what to do. I have a Sony computer that runs on Windows XP and then I have an Ipad, Iphone, and Ipod that I sync everything with What do I do? Do I continue installing? And, if I don't install how will I ever get all my "gadgets" to work properly without being able to download Itunes 10.6? Need Help!!!! HT5706 I have not used my apple tv in a few years, and just got it out of the bag. I connected it up, and it cannot set date, time. it also does not interact with the remote. Could it be as simple as a new batter is needed for remote?

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

Got a Wocket in the mail today!

I got my Wocket in the mail today, added all my cards to it and then put it in my safe. (I have a bunch of cards, but I don't use them other than for small transactions for them to report.)

IMO, this is a good "Emergency" device. If I ever lose my real card or wallet, I have a backup I can use or if I need to suddenly evacuate or leave the area, I have this in one place. Never know, emergencies happen when you least expect it. Always good to be prepared??
