So my W530 finally came in today! I recorded a quick unboxing vid that I'll piece together later but let me know if you have questions. One thing to note is that it has mini-displayport (not full-sized like I expected)

I think I may have still had some power throttling somewhere since the PCMark 7 test was giving me lower scores than an i7-2720 (around a 2k point difference) There seem to be a lot of power management options and I did set Max Performance but it still left things like "Lenovo Turbo Mode" disabled.
This is my first Thinkpad so I'm not familiar with all the utilities but I do feel like there are a few too many than I would prefer. It is running a little more sluggish than I expected but the CPU looks like it's barely doing anything so I'll dig into those settings when I get a chance tonight. Might just be the 4 GB of RAM though
I'll be dropping in an SSD and 16 GB of RAM later today (it only has 4 GB for the time being) so once I get around to that, it'll really fly.
Haven't tested out any games since I don't really play any but I'll do some more 3dMark testing later and post up the results.
The quality of the machine is really nice. The chiclet keyboard feels really comfortable to use and I'm using the backlit feature as we speak. There are actually three backlit modes; low brightness, high brightness, and high brightness with a Thinklight at the top of the screen.
It runs really cool, I haven't experienced any warm areas on the computer except maybe the vents. It's definitely a HUGE change from my old Dell XPS M1330 which you could fry an egg on.

Okay so I figured out the solution by reading other discussions. Basically you need to delete on your phone the icloud account and start up a new icloud account with a new email address. This is nice because you can still share apps without getting everyone elses things. The only thing that didn't get worked out was the notes...
On your phone go to settings and then icloud, scroll down and delete the account. Then just make a new icloud under a new email.

Recently whenever i plug my ipod nano to my pc the pc shuts down to a blue screen then a black screen then windows error message i have the latest version of itunes and software i just got this dec 2012

Let's hope a couple things: that you have bootable clones of your drives also; that the backup drive for TimeMachine has over 3x capacity of the data you plan and are storing. I would also switch TM backup drives so you have a 2nd.
Fragmented free space affecting performance happens when the drive is too full which may mean there isn't enough free space for a full backup set.
1.5TB for backing up 500GB, while WD Green 3TB is $140 and WD Black 1.5TB is, about the same price.
I'd be worried about the integrity and directory, and whether you can afford to lose that drive. Defragging is also a very slow operation. the ideal: to just clone a drive, or start over with another drive and wait. cloning TM volumes has not been done or has it? SuperDuper hoped to but I don't think they or Bombich's CCC made it there.
Trouble with highly fragged is when free space gets to 20% normally, 1/3 or so though for TM volumes, and finding where and a chunk of space for the file being written. Does TM use large spare image files of like 2GB?

Apple has a 90 warranty warranty on all of their repairs. You should take your computer back to the repair shop. Or call Apple Customer Relations (800) 767-2775. Wait for a human to come on the line and ask politely and firmly that you want to be transferred over to the Customer Relations department. Tell them your issue.

You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD or use a combination of these instructions and iTunes Match to put content onto the iPod touch.

Just got a new iphone and am syncing it with itunes, but it will not transfer my new music or voice memos. Help?

I just got a new iphone 3GS and was trying to sync it with my itunes information from my old phone. However, I keep getting multiple error messages and after the sync is complete, I find that everything has transferred except my purchased itunes music and voice memos (I record my class lectures). I am not sure what I can do to fix this. Any ideas?

The error messages are:
-"Attempting to copy to the disk 'My Iphone' failed. An unknown error occured (-69)."
-"The iphone 'My Iphone' cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in itunes library."

I just got a new laptop, and just downloaded itunes.. can i plug my ipod into my new laptop without losing any of my songs?

The Mac version will use your Apple ID as the first and only choice...
... Until you add the same Apple ID to Messages on the iPhone.
Once this is done it is best to Restart the app on the Mac.
This will then get at least one, possibly two pop up saying the iPhone in using the Apple ID and the iPhone Number.
Accepting these Pop ups will enable the iPhone as an ID to be used in the Receive At List.
It will also appear in the drop down at the bottom for "Start New Conversations from"
If you did not set iyt up like this then remove the apple ID from the iPhone in the Settings > Messages.
Place the iPhone in Airplane mode to break with the server.
Take it out of Airplane Mode and re-add the Apple ID in the Messages settings.
Then Restart the app on the Mac as above.
Having done this you can still turn Off the Apple ID on the iPhone (receive as the iPhone number only) or disable the iPhone Number on the Mac (receive Apple ID stuff only)
The Start New Conversations option on the Mac version means you could use the iPhone number so people don't get your email.

in the iPhoto preferences be sure the action when camera is connected is open iPhoto
What program are you using to import the photos?
If they are in a folder you can drag that folder onto the iPhoto icon in the dock to import - our launch iPhoto and under the file menu import from that folder

Go to settings>messages>send and receive at>you can be reached by iMessages at> Uncheck your phone number and you can select your Apple ID emal address if you want to use that for messages.
