It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.

  • HT1296 my computer crashed and I had to reinstall itunes and now I cannot sync my ipod with my computer

My computer crashed and I had to reinstall iTunes.  Now I cannot sync my iPod with my computer.  Any suggestions?

    Was this issue ever resolved?
Ditto for me!  I am so upset because about 15 years, I've had the same old Toshiba Gigabeat MP3 player which worked perfectly fine until the day Gigabeat (the software) upgraded to a Vista-compatibility program which made the MP3 go haywired!!  I couldn't get the MP3 player (again) to work as normal prior to the update.  Then, two years later, the business no longer supports MP3 players, nor does it invest in software patches!  Now I have a failed equipment ... though it still plays, but just won't let me work the controls to choose or select tracks!  I can only operate the on/off button on the Toshiba Gigabeat MP3 player! AND, concidentally, the battery seems to shorten (lessen)!  Interesting...
Then, I decided okay, I had enough...I can't play over 5.000 songs just to return to start; I decided to purchase the Apple iPod Classic 160 GB Silver!  I've had it only since March 2012.  It worked wonderfully at first.  It took me months to put all the music from my CDs to this magical device.  And, then, all of a sudden, my computer CRASHED (ironically in JUNE 2012!!) and lost all on the hard drive ... perhaps it is not ironic afterall.
Here's a tall quesion to Apple manufacturer, are they preparing us to confiscate our equipment?  It sure seems that way to me!
No support from Toshiba (which, by the way, are currently investing in so-called "green energy in nuclear projects" in the state of Texas), nor is there any support by Apple ... Interesting!  Sorry for babbling.  But I'm tired of big money making corporations putting on the bluffer masks on the public!  Something just ain't right!  Hold tight to your vinyls, tape decks, cassettes, 8-tracks and CDs...  This may be just another whim to making big time money!

I wiped out my ipod music by mistake and now I cannot sync my ipod back to my itunes

Can you provide more specific info?
Do you mean that you deleted the music from the iPod (not sure how you would do that without connecting to iTunes) but still have them in iTunes or that you deleted the music from iTunes but still have it on the iPod?
Is your iTunes installed on a Mac or a PC?

i have just had a new logic borad installed -
now my headphones don't work?  (m-audio)
Am I missing something in preferences?

I would not even try to fix it after getting the logic board replaced. I would take it back to who ever replaced it and tell them it is not working properly.

  • Ok I got my computer worked on so I had to reinstall itunes now everything is gone on my itunes and it won't let me sync my ipod not sure what to do

Ok I got my computer worked on to remove viruses so I had to reinstal itunes now everythings gone from my itunes tried to sync my ipod it won't sync my music ,apps, or pictures back to itunes it says an ipod should only be synced with one itunes library and im supposed to have only one it gives me a choice to erase  and sync or tranfer purchases so I click tranfer purchases so I get a error message itunes was unable to load class information from sync services Reconnect or try later I am not sure what to do.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - After all the stuff is on your computer, connect the iPod to yur computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • My home computer recently went down . it was restored by an expert who put three peoples itunes libraries into one. now I cant sync my ipod touch because it is not paired. I also cant access most of the music without knowing exactly were it came from

my son , my wife and I all had I-tunes libraries off various i-pod touches and I phones. The computer crashed and the expert lumped all the songs onto one library in the administrator desk top of the refigured computer. Now we cannot access any of the music unless we know how to locate it, which could take forever with 311 albums. Also we cannot get anything to sync as I tunes will not pair because it doesnt recognise any of the devices. Any suggestions gratefully received

  • Upgraded to iTune 7.5 and now I cannot sync!

I upgraded to iTune 7.5.020 and now my iPod will not sync, in fact it will not even recognise that I have an iPod attached to my PC!
I have rebooted my computer and my iPod, but iTunes simply refuses to acknowledge that there is a iPod attached. The iPod, however, shows the 'Do not disconnect' logo indefinitely while attached.
I'm using Windows XP Home edition, w/SP2 on a Dell, and (as I said earlier) with the previous version of iTunes it all worked.
    What now?

first to make you're itunes recognized ipod follow this article: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    - then once the computer recognize your ipod
    - uninstall itunes and quicktime, reinstall itunes
    - update the software of your iPod on the summary section
    - restore
    - hope this works
    - it worked for me

  • HELP! I have just changed my email address ad now i cant sync my ipod with the new songs I have bought

when I changed my e-mail address and got a new computer so I have downloaded iTunes and it recognizes my iPod but when I have bought 3 new songs it wouldn't let me sync the songs onto my iPod. Have tried clicking 'transfer songs' but it wont work. I don't know what else to do these are really good songs AND I've paid for them and I need them for my work. Please help, thanks for anyone who does, lauren

So basically you are trying to sync your Nano on a new computer/iTunes library?  iPods are designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.
To add new content to the iPod, you'll need to restore the iPod to factory settings in iTunes.  However, if you have content on your iPod that needs to be copied to iTunes first, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to do this.

  • Just had a new hardrive installed, now flashing blue start up screen wont turn on

Everything was fine. I had just picked up my mac, it had been wiped unfortunately. I got everything reinstalled, happy as a clam. Stupidly I didnt have my back up yet from the store, external drive. I was messing around with my customization, I installed opaque menubar, a custom log in screen and then I went into my system and replaced sart.bin file with one to replace my apple symbol with the classic rainbow. Unfortunately the file I replaced it with is probably not right. It ended in a c something. Instantly after I hit restart, it went to the blue screen with the loading symbol, flashing back and forth between blue and green blue. Im wondering if it has to do with the login screen change of appearance, the sartfile or if that when I picked up my mac and the apple genius guy turned it on, it made a loud beep and he had to take it back and take out the memory. What would cause this? When I go to utilities to verify and repair, it tells me nothing is wrong with my disk. Which makes me scared because I already spent 300 dollars to repair this computer and just reinstalled everything. I was in tears over the aggrivation. If anyone can shed some light on this and some clue what this is a sign of.
Again. On start up, it shows the white screen, apple symbol, loads then goes to the blue screen and flashes two shades of blue with a loading symbol. Any feedback will help me immensly

  • TS1363 I switched computers and now cannot sync my ipod shuffle

Help...I switched computers and now I cannot sync my ipod shuffle.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new/different PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is consolidate of your iTunes content onto either one of the PCs and then sync your iPod with just that one PC.
If you like to copy everything from your Shuffle to this new/different iTunes library, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Laptop died. Had backup of ITunes Media Folder but now cant restore music to Ipod after ios5 upgrade!

Hi guys.  My laptop died a week ago and I managed to get the Itunes Media Folder copied off hard drive before it completely died.  Since then, loaded Itunes on my main PC for first time (ios5), authorised it and then pointed iTunes at the Itunes Media Folder.  Since trying to sync my Ipod Touch (which effectively had to be overwritten) I've noticed that most of my music on the iPod Touch is Greyed out.  Majority of the music was from Amazon and purchased CD's imported to Itunes.  All plays OK on iTunes but Ipod wont play 'em.
Any ideas guys?  Tried syncing about 8 times now.  Real pain in the bum!

I am getting a bit lost on what was done and exactly why you did it that way.  It looks to me like you use iTunes with standard preferences settings and you didn't so much move your media folder to the external drive as your whole iTunes library (everything in the top level folder including all the media files).  This should have been done simply by copying the iTunes folder from the old drive to the new one, renaming the AllMyiTunesMusic folder if you so desire, then starting iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and selecting that folder as the iTunes library to now start using.  Apart from the copy time when you could go away and drink a pot of coffee the actual labor time would be about 2 minutes.  I think you must have done something different which has kind of messed up your library and resulted in duplication of files.  Some of those folders such as Movies and the neighboring Music folder should be in the media folder, but don't move things about in Finder or iTunes may lose track of them and things will get worse.  If you can go back and do things properly then I recommend you do so, otherwise we can see what we can work with here.
