Just installed 10.6.8. Can't print Word document with outline numbering.

You mean USB HUBs, correct? Not routers.
Yes remove the HUBs and try the drives connected directly to the computer.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Will Not Print Word Document with a Rotated Table

I have a MS Word document that is mostly text, but include a table that has been rotated in a text box to fit on the page.  When I try to print to PDF using Acrobat Pro XI, the document crashes at the page the table is on.
I have tried several attempts to print using the Acrobat Printer, convert to PDF feature and trying to print just the page alone.  Acrobat will simply not print word document with a rotated table.
Any idea how to fix this?
Word 2013, Windows 7, Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.06

In the full document, the print to PDF goes only as far as the table, then ends - not printing the table.  The remaining pages are not printed.
For example, I have trimmed the file down to just the table page, and included links to it, and a copy of the PDF it generated.

The error message I now get when I try to print is: "There is not enough memory or disk space to repaginate or print this document."
However, with the Task manager open, the memory never seems to get above half of the available (the graph bar fluctuates a little, but stays stable")
The page prints to a regular HP or Xerox printer with no problems.

  • Windows 7: Unable to print pdf documents with Reader 9.3.0

    I have the following problem.
Right now we are on the way to deploy Windows 7 in our environment. Now i have come over a problem with Adobe Reader 9.3.0, Windows 7 and our older printer modells from HP (4000er and 4050er). With them I can't print out any pdf document because in reader 9.3.0 the default language level is set to "Level 3". If i change this drop down to "Level 2" I can print out the document without any problems.
Question is: How can I permanently set this option to default to "Level 2" (see screenshot - this is found if you hit the advanced button in the printing dialog).
    Any help is apreciated...

When using a 32-bit browser, the PDF document should open in the browser (using the Adobe Reader add-on).
When using a 64-bit browser, it will ask you if you want to save the document, or open in Adobe Reader.
If neither of these methods work, then it is the website that does not let you download the document (for whatever reason, e.g. server overload).
Try if you can open this document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.2.pdf

  • Adobe Pro - will not print word documents to pdf.. keeps crashing

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro and when I try to print Word documents it says printing... and then crashes. The window to select the name of the pdf to print to never pops up. The Word program crashes and reopens. The print icon appears on the system tray and just says spooling.
    I am using Word 07.
Acrobat Pro was working fine to print PDF's on this version of word for a few months then for some reason it just stopped.
When I print PDF's from existing PDF's it works fine.
I have tried to repair the program but it did not help.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Miguel

If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Apply all updates IN NUMBER ORDER

  • Unable to print PDF documents & then unable to download Adobe Reader

    Help,
I tried to print a PDF document this morning and received the message "The document could not be printed". I clicked OK and received a further message "There were no pages selected to print". My printer will still print word documents, emails and DVD covers produced using Nero Cover Design Essentials.
I have the latest version of Adobe reader 11.0.07. I went to the Adobe site and repaired Adobe Reader but it made no difference.
I therefore decided to uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall it from the Adobe site. It downloaded OK but when I tried to install it I got the following message "Error: General Installation Error". I was using Mozilla Firefox so tried the same with Internet Explorer, with the same result.
I then downloaded the full Adobe reader from File Hippo, but still got an error message when I tried to install it (see below).
So I have gone from bad to worse and don't even have Adobe reader on my PC any more. The problem only surfaced this morning and last night I uninstalled two programs I decided I didn't need any more; Auslogics Disc Defrag and AVG PC Tuneup, but don't understand how uninstalling them could have caused the problem.
    Regards,
    Barry

    Hi again Pat,
I checked the permissions in my Temp folder and there were none. So I ticked all the boxes, but when I ticked OK I got the permission denied message again, so the problem is still tied to me not having administrator privileges. Strange thing is that even though I was denied permission, the boxes still stayed ticked. However nothing has changed as far as my problems are concerned.
It would appear to me that the answer is to get my administrator privileges back, but I have been unsuccessful in that so far. I purchased a complete PC from a good supplier but the Windows 7 setup disc that came with it does not have the "Repair Your Computer" function on it, which I understand would allow me to sort out my administrator privileges? When I rang Microsoft and asked if there was any way I could obtain that function, by download or otherwise, they weren't at all interested as I hadn't purchased Windows 7 directly from them.
As for downloading Adobe Reader via the MSI folder, I don't need to do that because when I recovered my backup from an earlier period I once more had Adobe Reader. I can use Adobe Reader to open a PDF document but it would appear I must have administrator privileges in order to print a PDF document, which was how the situation was before I decided to uninstall Adobe Reader and download a new version. I can print any other type of document so obviously Adobe demands more before it will allow printing.
In the early stages I also downloaded Foxit Reader, as I had read good things about it, but again, for the same reasons, I could not install it.
I have googled "problem with loss of admin privileges" and got a lot of hits. I will try some of the suggestions that don't appear too complex, but if they fail I will go back to the supplier. I have to sort it. I have seen suggestions about starting a new account but am not sure what to do there, or indeed, if I should do that.
Thanks for all the attempts to help me so far,
    Barry

  • When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

(The small field at the top of questions is to type just a title; the large field is to type your full question in, along with anything else that may help us help you.)
When you say "print", do you mean the text is correct in your InDesign file? If you export the document to a PDF, is it still correct? Final test: if you print the PDF to your printer (making sure you use the same driver and setting), is it wrong? Then it's your printer driver, trying to be smart when it should not. Locate a Settings dialog where you can switch off options such as this one. Were I a betting person, I'd tell you to look for something called "Auto-correct mirrored documents".

  • Printer will not print word documents or documents from internet however does a test print

My printer will not print word documents or documents from the internet.  However it does complete a test print.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled printer.  I have disabled and enbled the firewall and have run the test doctor programme, which has been unable to identify any problems.  I have a HP deskjet 3050A all in one J611 series printer.

Sorry that you are having a problem with printing word documents and internet.
Are you connected USB or wireless?
You can try to download an alternative driver and check to see if that works. (Shane_R) has a great post on how to do so.
The deskjet 990c is usually the better one.

  • Printing Word Documents on HP Deskjet 5150

I have a G4 flat panel iMac connected to a HP deskjet 5150 printer. When I try to print Word documents, it will only print a single page of multipage documents. If I want multiple copies of a single page document, it will only print one copy. All other applications print without problem.
I have reinstalled the drivers and that has not solved the problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Georgia and others,
I have a similar problem - but printing from Word to a HP DeskJet 960 printer.
It dones not seem to be a problem with all documents here, but since I yesterday used several hours trying to figure out what caused the problem I want to share my experiences with you. I had the same problem with another document on the same printer some moths ago (but not on our Laser printers at my company office).
I installed the newest printer driver from HP (several times) with no effect. After opening the document and saving it to a ".txt" document - without any formatting - the whole document got printed! This is not a real solution in most cases, as one loses all the formatting etc. But it indicated to me that the printer worked and communicated with word. Also it was possbile to print (other) documents without any problems to the same printer, at the same time.
So have you tested different documents on your printer?
I'm wondering if this indicate that the problem is hidden somewhere in something inside Word/Office and it's communication to the printer - as I have seem someone reporting similar problems with printing from Excel? (something with some "codes" in specific documents?).
Also, I have seen an update from Apple on some issues with printing from Preview - so I was also wondering if the use of "Show quick Preview" in Word/Office does has something to do with this problem? Has anyone tried to de-select this feature before trying to print? (I deleted the problematic document and can not re-create the problem currently).

  • I cannot print word documents but can print all other documents

Since updating my virus checker I cannot print word documents. I can print all other documents

At this point my suggestion is to do a full uninstall of the old print driver and an install of the most recent version print driver which you can obtain at:

Please follow the uninstall procedure before installing the new driver.

  • I just accidentally 'Don't Save'd a Word document. CAn I get it back?

I just inadvertently "Don't Save"ed a Word document. It had not been Save-ed or Named at any point. CAn I get it back?

You are correct. Time Machine can't backup a file that is not saved. And in "bopdog"s question above, I agree that her chances of getting her Word file back are slim to none. Bopdog specified that s/he never saved the Word file at all. In my experience and testing, I have never seen a Microsoft Office program create an Auto-Recover file of an open, but unsaved file, except when a program crash has occurred. I have seen Excel create an Auto-Recover file of an open document that had never been saved, when Excel crashed. So your point is well taken, and is likely correct in bopdog's case.
However, Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 programs, do save files automatically. If you have not changed the preferences, Office will automatically save an open, previously-saved, file every 10 minutes to the file location of Microsoft Office Auto-Recover documents (by default: Users > usernamehomefolder > Library > Application Support > Microsoft > Office > Office 2011 AutoRecovery). And if you use Time Machine, it will back up the Auto-Recover files every hour.
There are numerous support and forum Q&As across the internet where posters have basically said "if you click 'Don't Save' you are doomed." And there are numerous Q&As that explain where to find MS Office Auto-Recover files, and others that suggest Time Machine as a way to recover files. My post was meant to point out the fact that the combination of Auto-Recover and Time Machine can often allow you to recover a file (with at least some of your otherwise lost work) when you accidentally click "Don't Save."
The reason for my enthusiasm in the post is that I had just recovered several hours of work using the method I described. Here's what happened in my specific case:
I was working on a Word document that had been saved previously.
I spent several hours over the course of a workday bouncing between the open Word document and multitasking with other programs and files.
In the evening I went back to work on the file for a while, then I got distracted.
I went to install some new software and when my Mac asked me to Restart, I blithely shut down all my programs.
When Word asked, I accidentally clicked "Don't Save" on the file that I had been working on off-and-on all day, without saving.
I shut down Word normally and restarted the computer.
I then re-opened the Word file (opened recent documents) and realized that hours and hours of work were gone!
I went to Auto-Recover and there was no Auto-Recover file for the Word document. That is the way Auto-Recover unfortunately works. If you say "Don't Save" it assumes you mean it, and it deletes the Auto-Recover file. You can't get it back.
However, Time Machine backed up the Auto-Recover file. It was still there in my last Time Machine backup. In my case I didn't lose one minute of my work, because the Word file had been sitting there open for hours, without me working on it, and Time Machine backed up the Auto-Recover file every hour.
So yes, you can recover a Word file that YOU did not (recently) save, even if you clicked "Don't Save," because Auto-Recover saves files automatically, and Time Machine backs up the Auto-Recover files. It may not work in every case, but it sure saved my butt a couple days ago. So forgive my enthusiasm, but I was pretty stoked to get a few hours of my life back, and wanted to share this with the Mac community.

  • PDF: Unable to print a document as PDF from APEX when using the BI Publishe

    Hi,
From an APEX application, I am unable to print a document in a PDF format when using the Oracle BI Publisher.\
    Here is the configuration:
    1) Server A is W2K3 and hosts the Oracle BI Publisher server, with IP address ip01.
    2) Server B is a OEL5.2 and hosts the database server of the APEX application, with IP address ip02.
    3) Machine C is a W7 desktop from which through an URL both the APEX applicationn and the BI server are accessed, with IP address ip03.
    4) The APEX application is configured with the following to use the Oracle BI Publisher:
    - Printer server: Advanced (requires Oracle BI Publisher)
    - Printer server protocol: HTTP
    - Printer server host address: ip01
    - Printer server port: 9704
    - Printer server script: /xmlpserver/convert
    - Network services are enabled (at least I did get any warning/error message)
From C, I access the the APEX application through its URL, if I try to download a page by selecting PDF in the download section of the interative report section for that page, I am unable to open if and get the error:
<file>. pdf file can not be opened because the file type is not supported or because it is damaged (because, for example as an e-mail attachment is not sent and correctly decoded)
Yet, still from C, I am able to open any other PDF document.
The same way, still from C, acessing the APEX application through its URL, I have a query report defined with a PDF output format. Then, when I test the report (Test Report in the Report query) for that query, I get the error:
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
At first sight this could be a wong entry in the priinter configuration for APEX. But with this address, through the URL I can log in to the Oracle BI Publisher server.
Does someone has an idea what the problem could be?
    Thanks for any tips.

How are you trying to print to pdf?
Don't go via PostScript or Acrobat Distiller, which are old deprecated technology.
    You use:
Menu > File > Print > PDF (button bottom left) > Save as PDF…

  • Pages won't print Word documents

All of a sudden I can't seem to get Pages to print Word documents. Pages documents print fine, but if I send a Word document to the printer, the printer seems to start, but then never prints. I have an Epson Stylus C86. This problem only happens in Pages and only with Word documents.
    Any ideas?

Since it only happens with Word docs, I'm wondering if it's a font issue. For the sake experimentation, try highlighting the entire doc, and change fonts, then try printing again.
