Just installed a new logicboard and OSX 10.4 Chokes on 10.4.10 update
Just installed a new logic board on a 15" aluminum Powerbook g4. Followed all the steps on ifixit.com on how to do it and it went without a snag. It booted up and hurray! at least i thought so. Updated from 10.3.9 to 10.4 and installed and when i ran updates, the first one was 10.4 to 10.4.10....it decides to crash with that tinted screen saying I need to restart in 4 different languages. Go to do that and all i get now is the apple logo and it hangs...is it the logic board?
Or, should i just reinstall? Bad HD?

Hi i have a white screen problem with my macbookpro mid2009 15".I installed a ifixit battery and i think it screwed up one owc ssd drive.I just installed a new one and at 13min battery left it shut down and then all i got was a white screen...I tried every feasible command and all i got was some more white lol.I dont have my tools to open the case right now but do you guys think my cpu board is done?

I have LavVIEW 8.6 full version installed. I tried to upgrade to 8.6 professional version by just installing the new disks, and it didn't perform the upgrade. Do I have to un-install first and re-install, or is there a trick ?

Go to Solution.Look into the License Manager in the National Instruments folder of your Start menu. It is probably just a matter of activating LabVIEW 8.6 and possibly some other features with your new license code instead of your previous full version license code.

you likely need to setup your router using an eathernet cable and a computer to turn on the wifi part and set an encryption level and password or the likes

You could go hunting for a fair price on a refurbished or restored Intel-based Mac or MacBook, as most early models of CoreDuo and Core2Duo can run Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and some much more recent.
The Apple Store's Special Deals section that is online has some fairly recent examples of hardware with an OS, original accessories as noted, power cord, and complementary one year coverage. Eligibility for extended AppleCare plans are noted & may be available for various items in the store. Subject to availability. Refurbished. Like new. The price difference can be about the same as the additional two year AppleCare plan may cost, so get that too.
Third party repaired restored or available through other channels vary in quality, quantity, condition, and may be lacking in some or most original accessories; they should include basic hardware as originally equipped and have the boot-install software disc set as intended for that build model & year specification, included.
Auction sites rarely have that much of a kit together, w/ missing discs, scruffy, extra fees, etc. On the other hand, companies that restore and repair Macs for a living and are authorized Apple service centers may have something, if you aren't in the market for something holiday new or really quick. Older models if reasonably refurbished can still shine years later.

My computer tech set up Firefox as my browser when he installed my new computer. I went to MSN.com and set it up as my home page but I need to know how to get it to open to MSN when I use the Firefox browser.
Inside Firefox, go to the msn website. Then, Click on the Orange Firefox button, then Options, and under Home page, click "Use Current".
Also, make sure you update to Firefox 12 (Click the orange Firefox button, then the arror next to help, then About Firefox. Let the update download, then click apply update) -
it removed my itunes and went to install the new one but stopd at the end with that error message.?
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

What I do when I get a new computer is the first time I turn it on is use Setup Assistant. Once Setup Assistant has finished doing its thing, the new computer is just like my old one.

I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.Firefox, Safari, and PhotoShop each handle embedded color profiles differently. I haven't tried it myself.

The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

How can I force Time Machine to make a complete backup of my Hard Drive. I just installed a new external drive for Backup since my previous one failed. Now when I back up, Time Machine only backs up my data folder and the Users folder.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded the latest version of itunes. It has all installed fine, but when I plug my ipod and sync it, the music library shows all the songs and videos that are on there, but won't let me play them. Also, I can't add any new songs to the same library. It saves them elsewhere. I have had the previous version on another computer and it worked just fine. I have been online trying to find an answer but nothing. Hope someone can help me. Thanks
Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.
