Just installed CS6 but can't associate file type JPG with Photoshop.

I've just now installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. File types PSD and TIFF work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and the photo. I can associate JPG with either Bridge or Lightroom, or several other programs, but when I browse to Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, not even an error message. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here?
Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. There is 4GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.

I know there is a problem with the file associations and that I need to fix them. What I don't know is how to do it. I successfully fixed the associations for file types PSD and TIFF, but I'm completely unable to do the same for type JPG. I did use Open With and that's where it just refused to allow me to change to Photoshop. It would allow me to change from the default Windows Photo Viewer to Bridge or to Lightroom, but not to Photoshop.
The problem was probably caused by my having installed CS6 prior to uninstalling CS4. Should I just reinstall CS6 right over the top of the existing CS6?

If you want an ongoing choice (and you're using Windows) you could put shortcuts to each of the two versions of Photoshop.exe on your desktop and drag images to whichever one you want to use.
Keep in mind you can only have one of them running at a time. If Photoshop CS6 is already open and you drag a file to Photoshop CS4's shortcut, it will still open in Photoshop CS6.

I've just installed Dreamweaver CS4 under Windows XP
Professional but I've an issue with which files types are
associated with Dreamweaver.
When I first ran DW CS4 the application invited me to select
which type of files to associate with Dreamweaver: .css, .js,
.xslt, php, etc. I deselected a few as I was using another editor
for those at the time. However, I would now like to associate PHP
files with Dreamweaver CS4, so that when I double-click a PHP file
in Windows Explorer it opens in Dreamweaver CS4.
How can I do this?
Is there a way to run the initial dialog box again that
invited me to select which files to associate with Dreamweaver?

Browse to any PHP file with Windows Explorer, right click
then select Open
With..., Choose Program and select DW CS4 (and tick the
"Always..." box to
make this the default file association)

hello I have cs6 design & web premium I am trying to install in my new computer but for some reason it was not reading the disk. I did the whole downloading for 5 hours from adobe.com now that I click set up it says it cannot because some files might be missing.. how do I know what is missing or what to do?

It seems like that you have downloaded two different files (For two different language) on your machine. If you have used the below mentioned download link for downloading your product, please make sure that you are using the installer for the same language. Please check the below screen shot for the explanation.
Download CS6 products
Once you have downloaded both the files, please click on DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.exe to perform the extraction followed by installation.

I need to re-download CS6 but can't see a download link with the product.

I lost my installation of CS6 due to an OS upgrade, and need to re-download and re-install it. When I go to by Adobe account the purchase is listed, but I can't see a link anywhere to re-download the package. The purchase was only about a year ago (i.e. within the 3-year re-download window). What might I be doing wrong?

I'm trying to associate .asp files with DW 8, I've tried
using the usual windows dialogue but it ignores the fact I've
clicked the dreamweaver.exe file and tries to default to IE.
Dreamweaver 8 does not appear in the list of registered programs.
Can anyone help please?

Your CS6 must have been purchased as an upgrade. What it is asking you to select/provide is the name/serial number of the previous version you purchased that qualifies you to install and activate the CS6 upgrade version... this would be likely be one of CS3 thru CS5.5.

or, assuming you have all your media files in the default location, copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from the old to the exact same location on the new machine.
you can either use your network or an external HD for that.

A few suggestions for you:
Try:
uninstall all HP utilities or other HP apps on your Mac
see if there is updated software on the HP website
go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
control-click on your printer in the column on the left
select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
Do a factory reset on your printer
go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple

I am using OS X 10.8 on a Mac. This may be different if you are using iOS.
Does Numbers'09 still exist in your Applications folder? Maybe inside a new folder? Perhaps you could use Numbers'09 to open your documents.

When you say you have tried everything, it would help if you told us what you have tried to avoid duplication.
When you installed iTunes did you get any error messages?
Anyway, on the face of it it may be worth trying a separate install of Apple application support.
Uninstall iTunes again. Now open Apple Software update, assuming it is working.
It should offer to download iTunes. Don't do it yet, go to the Tools menu and select Download only.
Then download iTunes. Then go to the tools menu again and select Open download folder and you should see a collection of six files.
Before going on, can you get to this stage OK?
One further thing I would like you to check, are you ahving any problems with Windows updates? Could you check in Windows Update to see if there are any failures.
