Just installed lion but now i cannot connect to my server (NAS,disk station)

Before there was no problems, now it say that this version is not supported.....

That's one of the downsides to using a 3rd-party NAS (and not checking for compatibility before rushing to get a new version of OSX).
The same thing happened when Snow Leopard was released; several NAS makers weren't ready, although they'd had access to the new requirements and beta copies of OSX for several months. Most provided updates within a month or so, but a few never did.

I updated to mountain lion and now mail cannot connect to my server. It says check your user name and password are correct. Well they are, and were. Nothing has changed except the mac OS.
Has anyone else suffered this and knows a way around it? Too annoying to log into my mail every 15mins via a web page anymore.
Efforts tried to resolve this so far:
retyped user name and password, removed account and created a new account, restarted computer, software update, searched forums. so far all have proved unsuccessful.
I have also written to my mail provider and am waiting for feed back from them, but if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received.

Many users upgrading to Mountain Lion have run into this problem, myself included. You likely have corrupted settings for your "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" for each of the failed Accounts. Open Mail>go to Mail's Preferences>Accounts>select an Account in the left column to work on>then set up your Outgoing Mail Server which will INCLUDE resetting up your Password, as its asking you to. Click on "SMTP Outgoing Mail Server" near the bottom of the Accounts window while your mail account is highlighted in the left hand column. When you click on SMTP... you will see a drop down box icon offered at the right side of the line. Click it and then select at the bottom of the the list "Edit SMTP Mail Server". Fill in the required settings for your ISP mail account using their recommended settings.

I just installed Lion and now my adobe flash player doesn't work to allow me to cam at a website that uses adobe flash to support camming there. It worked fine yesterday when I had Snow Leopard installed but right after I installed Lion it stopped working.

Just installed Lion and now my trackpad will not zoom in and out and the direction of going up and down have reversed.

I have had Lion since it was first released July 20th, and I have noticed that I can not zoom in on everything that is on the internet, some things seem to not be able to be zoomed in on. Are you saying that no matter what website you go to (this one for eample) the zoom function does not work?

Honestly I don't know if it's a Lion or MS problem eihter. I have been using Lion for many months with Office 2011 with no problems though.The earliest version I had on my machine was 2008 and 2011 opened those files with no problems at all. One thing you might want to do is restart the computer while holding down the Option key then select the Restore Volume and run Disk Utility and repair the Disk Permissions on the HD. Run DP at least 2x.

You must be running Office 2004, which was designed to run on PowerPC Macs.

I just installed Lion without knowing I would lose access to my Quicken data. To make things worse, I'm a computer moron and didn't make an external back-up. I have an old non-intel mac, is there any way to transfer my Quicken data to it?

The only version of Quicken that will work with Lion is Quicken Essentials. Quicken 2007 for Mac (and prior versions) will not. I recommend checking the Intuit website for information regarding using Quicken Essentials with Lion before upgrading to Lion. we have just installed OS X Lion, v10.7.2 and now cannot connect to MyExpatNetwork on my Macbook pro. Any suggestions?

yeah-find out where you're downloading stuff to, and stick with it. I'm using FireFox and tell it to save the driver and stuff on the desktop, and when I quit FireFox, there it is on the desktop. you'll also need your admin password. It should show up as a .dmg file, then double-click on it to open it. You should see "Brother.pkg" . start up brother.pkg (double click??) and folow the instructions that ought to appear to install the printer driver. If the .dmg file doesn't mount, use Disk Utility** to mount it and get it working. Then you should see the package. and then you can install it.
** you may have to click on the .dmg file and choose "Get Info" then Open with, then choose disk utility, and then open with then change all. then close it. Hopefully that ought to work. If you cannot remember your admin password, I can't help you right now. Looks like you'd need it, to let Brother install that printer driver.

Can I ask a couple questions?
1. Are you using a proxy? If so, make sure that it is configured under Settings
2. Have you tried restarting your computer? I've had a similar problem, where all browsers on my mac won't connect. Try restarting, that worked for me (you've probably already tried that but just in case :) )
If none of these work, try starting in safe mode just in case an add on is messing with it. If that doesn't work, keep us posted!!

Install finally worked - but now I cannot connect

My install did work after I logged on as administrator, and the database home page came up. I was very pleased, BUT then....
I rebooted and re-logged in as my own user, and the database home page would not come up! My services are started, but when I tried connecting (SQL) I got:
ORACLE not available
shared memory realm does not exist
please help!
ps I did try as administrator again but still can't connect, same problem.

I looked in my log file and found the following errors:

I guess this must be related to when I couldn't connect previously. The DBF files are there in the oradata directory tho!

I installed Lion but now my Macbook won't go past the start-up screen. Help!

I installed Mac OS X Lion today and it downloaded and installed fine but when it restarted it went to the white start up screen with the grey apple logo and the wheel kept going around for two hours. I held the power button and my macbook went off so I pushed it again and it went on, again staying at the start up screen for half an hour. I restarted it again and held the option button to boot to recovery. I then repaired the permissions and the disk drive and then reinstalled Mac OS X Lion. This time the installation took around 4 hours to complete and then restarted. It again went to the white start up screen and the grey wheel has now been going around for the last hour! What can I do? I haven't backed up my files and would still like to keep them. Thanks.

I don't have a back up but I'm not to worried about that as it's my traveling computer and I only use it for the web and some word processing.
I don't have the disks with me right now as I'm away from home. I'm not sure what I had updated, I think there was a lot because I hadn't don't it in a long time.
If I can start it in safe mode what should I do?

I installed Lion and now I cannot search my computer.

Spotlight is totally broken and I can't even search a folder for a file that I see right in front of me. It just has a spinning wheel forever. The only thing that comes up in spotlight is a link to search google, wikipedia or a dictionary definition for the word i'm searching.

I really don't know what to say. Applecare had me delete my spotlight index and reboot my computer a few times and it seemed to work somewhat. when i would attempt to use spotlight it would come up with results but had no clue at all how to present them. when i would search for something incredibly generic such as the name of an exteremly common application like SAFARI, it would return like 234203849203948 cookies and worthless files without being able to identify that i clearly wanted the web browsing application. and yes, i have the default spotlight hierarchy selected.
the weird thing is now sometimes spotlight results show up (albeit in their totally inane and borderline useless manner) and other times no results at all show up just as before when i could not use it to search whatsoever....
