Just installed second computer on home network and can't download tunes.
We're able to purchase but can't download purchased tune to I-Pod. All our main I-Pod files are on the old Dell Dimension 4100, our new computer is a Dell Inspiron 530S using Vista. Can anyone help? Thanks!
On the new computer, choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes, provide your iTunes Store account information, click here, and follow the instructions.

Added second laptop to home network and first laptop connection GONE
Help! I have a WRT54G2 v1.5 wireless-G broadban router set up on my hard-wired computer (XP) and had my new Sony Vaio laptop (Windows 7) connected wirelessly. Everything worked great! Then, yesterday, I added a Dell laptop to the network and my Sony got kicked off the network. I have tried to "add a device" but when I click on the link to do that from Network Magic, I get an error page on the Internet. I saw that someone else had a connection problem so I read the answer posted to their question and clicked on the link and again, get an Internet error. I am connected to the Internet: I checked! What is going on? I need the Dell laptop on the network as it is my new laptop for my job. Help!
Let mw know the model number of router …also tell me the Operating system on laptop.

Just installed os x 10.8.3 and can no longer access icloud.
I can no longer access icloud, mail, etc. after updating to 10.8.3. On the other hand, I seem to be okay on my iphone. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas.

Your problem appears to be different than what I experienced, which was a complete inability to access iCloud mail. That issue is resolved for me now. Here's what I did, but frankly I don't know why this worked. I'm not sure if it was all a coincidence and that the iCloud fix was rolled out to different countries at different times.
On my MacPro, from 10.8.2 with mail working correctly:
1. deleted the iCloud account from Mail
2. updated to 10.8.3
3. signed out of iCloud in Preferences and signed back in
4. readded the iCloud account in Mail (ensuring of course that the id and passwords are correct)
Again, I don't know why it worked but it did. With this done, I repeated the process on my MacBook with success. You can see if this works for you, but this is all I can offer as help. -
Second computer not detecting network

This week I bought a new WRT54G v8.1. After updating the firmware, I was able to set up the network using LELA. However, I've tried adding the second computer to the network and haven't been able to get it to work.
The second computer has a wireless USB adaptor (also Linksys) to receive the signal. It detects other networks in the general vicinity (such as my neighbors'), but not my router. The WLAN light on the router connected to computer #1 flashes rapidly when computer #1 wakes up or is restarted. It then slows until it blinks only once every 10 seconds or so. I've copied the "LinksysConnectPC" setup program to a flash drive, per the LELA directions, and transferred it to computer #2. However, when I run this program, there is a "Checking the computer..." message displayed for several minutes. At first, this message was displayed for only 1 or 2 minutes. After subsequent tries, this message was displayed for closer to ten minutes. After this period of waiting, the message, "EasyLink Advisor could not establish a wireless connection to the router", is displayed.
Computer #1 uses Windows XP. Computer #2 uses Windows Vista. The router is set to channel 1. The USB adaptor is set to channels 1-11 in Device Manager. SSID broadcast is set to "enabled". The security mode is set to WEP.
What should I do?

Message Edited by SharkD on 03-09-2008 09:12 PMFirst of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Verify that "SSID Broadcast" is set to "enabled".
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. Delete your current network (this will delete any old settings). Reboot computer. Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings". Reboot computer. You should connect automatically. If you still have a problem, temporarily turn off your computer's software firewall.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption. Ideally, you should be using WPA2, or at least WPA encryption with a strong password. WEP is no longer recommended.
If you decide to go with WPA2 ( = WPA with AES ), note that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. Go to Microsoft Knowledge base, article ID=917021 and it will direct you to the patch.
Sadly, the patch is not part of the automatic Windows XP updates, so lots of people are missing the patch. -
Just got a new Airport Express to replace an old one that dropped off all the time. The new one works with various Apple and Android devices but will not connect to Wen 8 computer. The computer sees the network but can't connect.

Well it looks like you're not having any luck at all with this AX set up but please don't give on it just yet, it's a good choice for extending your Network. Your on the right path, just going backwards and in the wrong direction. You'll learn a lot about stuff this way but may lead to other issues.
Before I continue, let me know if you have returned the AX or still need help. I'm currently signed onto my home network and want to go on with another computer but don't remember my password for my network. Does anyone know where to find this? It's a password that I set myself, not the one that came with my router.
It's in your Keychain on the computer you usually use to connect to your network - the "kind" will be "AirPort Network Password".
Your Keychain can be opened by using the Keychain Access program. It is in your Utilities Folder.
Open Keychain Access, and type airport in the search field. You will see a number of entries. Choose the one with the name of your wireless network, open it, and check the box next to "show password". Before it reveals itself you will be asked for your login password - the one you use to log in to your MacBook.
The network password will appear in the box.
Quit Keychain Access. -

I just installed an apple TV (1st genertaion) and it doesn't mirror whay I see on my MacBook Air......isn't it capable to do so??....I saw that capability on the apple TV (3rd generation)
Try going to Settings on your Apple TV then click General>Then Scroll down to Software Update. Im not sure if certain Apple TV's were excluded from the new update but give that a shot.

Laserjet pro p1102w installation on more than one computer on home network
I have just set up a Laserjet Pro1102w at home to work wirelessly which it does without issue. I now want to be able to print to it from my wife's laptop and a desktop PC. The laptops are both Windows 7 the PC Vista. When I was installing the printer at one point a mesage told me that if I want to install it on another computer that the second one would only work if my first one was turned on up and running which would not always be possible. Looking around the manual I saw something about pasting IP addresses into the web browser to set it up, I thought the install disk would be more logical easier. Also would the other computers not see the printer on the wireless home network and just pick it up?
Question: what is the easiest way of connecting the other computers preferably without needing the first laptop to remain on.Well, that doesn't really answer the question. But probably not the right forum to answer it (and certainly not the right one to ask it).

Connect Fios to Cat5e home network AND Coax connections?
My Verizon fios system was recently installed. My home is wired for a Cat5e home network and standard Coax in all rooms. The fios system is currently connected to the Coax connections and the TVs and Fios router all work fine. Problem is that I would also like to use the Cat5e connections for devices that access the internet that don't have wireless capability and are not proximate to the Fios router. Is it possible to connect the ONT to my Cat5e home network so that I can connect other devices directly to the Cat5e outlets, and keep the existing Coax set-up?
I understand that the standard Fios set-up only allows using either an Ethernet output or the Coax output, but not both. Any suggestions?
One option might be to move the router to the basement (where the equipment is located that I want to connect to the Cat5e network), but then the router will likely be too far from the rest of the house to receive the wireless signal. In that case, is it possible to connect a wireless router in another location (I have a Belkin wireless router). Or do I need to get another router from Verizon?DC_Sox_Fan wrote:

Thats not strickly true but its not bad info either. You cant use both the coax and cat5 at the same time for INTERNET. The coax internet port (moca) is not active at the same time as the ethernet port. However, many systems use the ethernet for internet and coax for TV.
Depending on how your house is set up this can be accomplished many different ways.
I would assume that you have some kind of utility closet were all the ethernet cables converge, where you could place the router so that it can connect to all the rooms. Is this correct? If so, is there also a coax connection in there? Again, if so, you could place the verizon router in the closet, connect the coax to the router for the link to verizon and the TV's and then connect the ethernet to the lan for the rest of the house. This would be the simplest way assuming that you have this type of connection available to you. there are many other ways but it would all depend on what you have available to you and how your house wiring is set up

I have recently purchased an n80 and I am trying to get the home networking and internet functional through my wirless router. So far I have had little success. I have enabled upnp on my d-link router/modem . I have installed The simple center software on my laptop and uploaded files to share. I have setup an access point on my n80 and I have enabled sharing. The shared folders on the n80 have also been selected to share all files. The simple center software has been allowed to operate through xp's firewall. THe only thing I am not sure about is the port forwarding on the router. I have a trigger port and a public port in the applications gateway section of my router . I have entered the ports listed in the simple centers setting section (1900,49153,49154,49152). I have these numbers in both the trigger port and the public port on the TCP protocol.
Occasionally I can connet to the internet. However when I close the connection down and try to start it up again sometimes it does not work , showing 'unable to perform operation'. The only way to re-establish the connection is to power the router down then backup(reset).
The same goes for the home networking. I had no success a all on the first day of trying. Went to work. When I came back tried it again and it worked perfectlly ?? Now on the third day it is working ocassionally.
Anyone else had simmilar problems ? If so any soultions would be appreciated ! The phone itself seems to be pretty glitcy. And battery life isnt the best either. Apart from that eh !Forget that - just sussed it out...

I just installed Time Machine as a router and as a back up and all my gadgets like, Mac, Apple TV, IPad and Laptop connected right away after setting up the TC. I followed Apple's instructions like, connecting the Ethernet cable from the old router to the TC's Ethernet WAN. Now, this is the problem, I just found out lately that my IPad kept on connecting to my old router, the 2wire109. Anybody? I need your help please to correct the problem. I am actually not famililiar with these stuffs yet. Thank you
Settings > Wifi > select the 2wire109, click the blue arrow > Forget this Network.

Home Network and printer sharing with XP and Vista
I have a home network and printer wired on my PC desktop which runs XP. My Vista laptop has been connected to internet and printer through the home network for past 6 years flawlessly. However, since October my Vista laptop cannot
connect to the network printer, but internet has been working fine.
I've tried to uninstall/reinstall, update drivers, connect via TCP/IP but printer isn't located by add printer wizard. When I plug printer directly into laptop via USB it works fine. I also have tried another xp desktop in the house
and that cannot locate the printer also. Help!
