Just installed Yosemite, got home and it appears to have wiped my machine.
So I downloaded the free YOSEMITE update from the App store. Ran it and went to work.
When I came back, it was on a screen that offered me to restore from a time machine backup, reinstall Yosemite, go online for backup and run the disc utility.
I do not use timemachine, I use another online backup system.
I was not expecting this.
All I wanted was it to uppgrade.
Any suggestions of what I should do?
I keep getting taken to the OSX Utility Window.
1. Backup from time machine
2. Reinstall OSX
3. Get help online
4. Disc Utility
I have run the back from an old time machine backup, it restarts and then I end up back at this screen.
I have tried to click on Reinstall OSX and it just says, this isnt possible, I have to run it from the App store again

4. I have run disc util and checked for disk and permission errors, there are none.
What ever I do, it ends up back at this OSX Utility window.
I am Mid 2012 Mac Pro with an SSD hard drive.
I have logged a ticket with Apple Care, but even they don't know why its doing this.
Being an early adopter really isnt all its cracked up to be.

OS Recovery
Boot up from your computer by holding down the command+r keys. This will take you to the recovery drive.
Select Disk Utility & hit Return.
In Disk Utility select the HD on the left & click on Repair Disk (bottom right).
When done, go back to your desktop by restarting your computer. Try the AppStore again. If still not working see if Yosemite can be downloaded from Apple's Download website. -

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try a reset (may not work).
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Then connect to your comnputer and try to restore.
- If the screen is still white then it appears yu have a hardware problem and appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
I just installed Yosemite. iPhoto is gone, and Photos does not open. Instead, I am prompted to update to the latest version. The App Store tells me that is not available in the US. What do I do? Cannot access any photos.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X

I just bought a new apple imac pro laptop. the did the updats at the store and put in a password for me.I got home and the password doesn't work.
Resetting User Password in Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks
Boot into your Recovery Partition by hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
In Terminal, type:
resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.

i just installed yosemite on my mcb pro mid 2012 with a clean install. so i only had the new os x yosemite running on my mac. everything went perfect. than i installed win8.1 with the bootcamp assistant and also everything went perfect.
But here's the Problem:
When i'm using Windows 8.1 and i go to the "Computer" window where i can find my hdd partition "Bootcamp (c;) there is only this Partition. the mac Partition is missing.
so i am not able to read the files on my mac Partition.
Before i installed yosemite and win8.1, i was running mavericks and win7 on my macbook pro and i haven't had this Problem. i was able to see and read my mac Partition also on Windows 8.1???
is there any solution for this Problem???

i have an iphone 4s and it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on until i got home and plugged it in to the mains. however it wont connect to my carrier and wont let me turn wifi on or use the internet. all my data is still in place. however when i disconnect from the charger it switches straight off immediately. it also just flashes up the apple icon (on 10 seconds, off 10 seconds.......) when i connect to either car charger or computer. it also resets itself every single time i turn it back on using the mains charger. please help me understand what is happening to my phone
is there anything apple could do if i took it to one of their main shops???

Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced. -
i just got my replacement ipad last night. when i got home and tried the applications, there is no sound. but the videos do have sounds. i already checked the settings. i cannot find what's causing it. please help.
You may have already checked the settings, but it still sounds like you have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I think you guys make a great point, I too don't like how my cookies are erased when I clear history and have to use the go around. Just a reminder and I'm sure you all know, this is a user to user forum and Apple may or may not get to see your opinion. I think you should let them know. Hi i have a white screen problem with my macbookpro mid2009 15".I installed a ifixit battery and i think it screwed up one owc ssd drive.I just installed a new one and at 13min battery left it shut down and then all i got was a white screen...I tried every feasible command and all i got was some more white lol.I dont have my tools to open the case right now but do you guys think my cpu board is done?

i walked out of school and i was trying to get on my phone but it would not cut on.It was just a black screen.So when i got home and put it on the charger it keep vibrating but still a black screen. I called apple and everything i tried to restart still nothing HELP!!!HELP!!!!HELP!!!! i want my phone back
Did you ever figure out how to turn your phone on? Mine died today around noon for no reason. I'm so mad at it! I can't get it turned on, and I KNOW the battery is charged. Suggestions? I'm going to the genius bar (another trip completely out of my way) tomorrow morning. Suggestions?? Oh and please don't tell me to hold the "home" button and the "power" button together because I've been doing that all day. It doesn't work.

Is this the mac app store version? A number of people are having this problem. This is what adobe recommended in the past for fixing the problem, but as far as I know it doesn't work in Yosemite:

I was at Apple Store yesterday and they created a pages document for me. When I got home and tried to open it, I get a message that I need a newer version of Pages. I see the image before I push "open". The 'kind' is pages publication. The file does not appear in the 'open recent' list.
Just be careful with Pages 5, it is not strictly an upgrade.
Apple has actually removed over 90 features and some work can be very difficult in the newer version.

On my 2007 [mid] iMac with 6G RAM -- stuck halfway through for 2hrs. Finally just turned it off and on with button on back of screen.
No problem. It's all good. Just a glitch. -
Error 1704 - Can't install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007
Hi,
I am attempting to install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on my windows 8.
I ran the setup like normal and it went 100% but froze and nothing else happened.
I then looked into a few threads and saw that I should run it in compatibility mode. When I did this I got an error message, which stated, "Error 1704. An installation for Microsoft Office Office 64-bit components 2007 is currently suspended. You must
undo these changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?"
Seems simple, but when I click yes, the error message immediately comes back up (which just continues no matter how many times I press yes. So I press no and it ends....
I don't know much about computers but I need to get my resume in to a job ASAP!
PLEASE HELP!

So hears the deal. Im having an issue with audio renders playing in a spot, rather than the current audio. Example: I put a piece of audio on the timeline, render it, than move the audio. When It try and replay, the audio of the clip is not correct.
