Just introducing myself to iPad World. Update iOS and antiviruses. iPad 2

Good morning from Spain,
Do you know which iOS is the one I have to download to update my A1395 iOS?
I know I have to connect the iPad to the computer and update it, but I do not know which iOS is the best for it.
And I would like to know something about antivirus or antispy to be installed in the iPad.
Thank you in advance for your answers, and excuse my poor english.
Best regards

Installed iTunes, searched in this web site, anyplace to download the iOS6.
The iTunes gently suggest me to update to iOS 7.
Does anybody know where to find the iOS6 for iPad2?
Thank you.

Do you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    A 1G can only go to 3.1.3
    A 3G only to 5.1.1

What version of iTunes is on the computer? The latest is 11
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

I went online on my laptop to apple and put in all my security questions.  Then I manually truned off my phone, let it "rest" for a bit and then turned it back on.  This time, when it promted for the security questions, I opted for "not now" and then it seemed to progress just fine.

    Hello dtorres74302
Check to see if you had a back up within iTunes or through iCloud to see if you can recover that data.

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • How does one update iOS and what is iOS.. Thank you..

how do you update iOS. And what is that anyway.   I had to update FaceTime in order to use it and now I cannot send any pictures from ipad camera. Thanks for any help..

"iOS" is the operating system on handheld Apple devices.
You can either update your device wirelessly from Settings > General > Software update or by connecting to a computer using iTunes.  Make a backup to iCloud or iTunes before you do any update, so you can restore it, if something should go  wrong. Also, make sure it is connected to a power source, if you update wirelessly.

  • Updated IOS and iTunes now songs are greyed on iPod Touch

    Hello,
I've searched all over for a resolve to this problem. I've tried everything from removing all my music from my iPod, wiping my iPod, to removing quicktime and iTunes and reinstalling. However the issue still persists.
    The Problem:
About a month ago I ripped an album and attempted to put it on my iPod. All the songs showed up, but only the first song was playable, the rest were grey on the iPod. I chalked it up to a user error on my part, no big I could fix it.
About a week ago I tried to add another album to my iPod, same story, all the songs show up, but only the first in the album is playable. I removed both albums at this time, and did a sync. After doing the sync A LOT of my songs wouldn't show up. Usually just the first song in an album would be playable, the rest grey. After my restore, and iTunes delet/reinstall my iPod doesn't even get that far. I think I'll have about 15 songs out of 3500 that are playable.
When I go to the music tab in iTunes under my iPod the songs that don't transfer have a little grey circle with arrows in it next to them. Not sure what that's all about...
I know that they songs are getting to my iPod because in the summary in iTunes it shows I have 23 gigs of music.
I'm using a 4th Gen iPod touch, newest IOS and newest iTunes as of Saturday, November 17th, 2012.
I'm at a loss right now. I go from having ALL my music on my iPod to next to none.
    So, what's the fix?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

That didn't really fix the issue. However I did half way fix it by deleting all the music in my iTunes library, then adding them again. Not sure what was going on, but it's fixed now.
    Thanks!

  • Updated ios and phone is locked

    Can someone help me please?
Last night I updated to the latest IOS and the phone said it failed, so I restored the phone.
This morning when I got up, my phone was locked and my code doesn't work any more.
I connected to iTunes thinking that if I update the IOS it would fix the problem.  iTunes said I have the latest software.
I am going through withdrawal because I can't play Word with Friends.  Can someone tell me how to unlock my phone?
PS:  The phone now displays French instead of English.
Thanks in advance and Happy 4th of July!

    Hi zyggistardust,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there was an issue updating your iPhone and now it's displaying a screen that says it's disabled. Try restoring the iPhone from recovery mode, as shown in the article below.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    Use recovery mode
Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
    Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
Click OK, then restore the device.
    Cheers!

  • World updates, ext4 and Reiser4, and offline installation Questions

I am deciding between Sabayon Linux and Arch Linux, and on the Sabayon forums the term "world update" is all over the place.  I am still not certain what exactly that term means, but I always see it used in conjunction with reconfigurations and recompiling the operating system.  On the other hand, a search for "world update" on the Arch forums yields absolutely nothing.  Why is this?  Is there any way or need to configure Arch Linux for a specific hardware setup?
This Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison … tributions says that Arch Linux supports Reiser4, but that its support of ext4 is unknown/who knows.  In what way does Arch support either of these?  If I installed Arch onto a partition that has the Reiser4 file system, would Reiser4's full abilities be put to use?  I realize both Reiser4 and ext4 are experimental, so that might limit their current abilities, but I am mainly interested in what limitations there might be in using Arch and Reiser4 (or ext4) together.
How easy is it to download a package or open source on another computer and then install that package or open source onto Arch on a computer that does not have Internet access?  I do want the package manager to know about the installation so that the program can easily be removed.  Would it be very difficult to update programs by downloading the files elsewhere and installing them on a different computer?  Using dial-up is like trying to stand on a frictionless surface.
    Thanks

Thank you.  I am rather certain that Arch has won the battle over Sabayon simply because it updates and runs out of the box much better than Sabayon.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems, ext4 has allocate-on-flush and extent features.  Those are both things that I would really like.  Reiser4 has these and several other features that I would like, but I certainly am not capable of patching Arch to work with Reiser4.  According to this same website, ext4 and ext3 have the same maximum file size limit.  The only gain in size is ext4's maximum volume size limit, which is certainly much more than ext3's.  Either way though, I am not worried about maximum file or volume limits.  I simply would like the features that ext4 contains that ext3 does not contain.
Thank you lucke for your help.  With that information I doubt I will try ext4 until it is considered stable.  That leaves me with ext3 or ReiserFS, and I think ReiserFS wins because of its tailpacking and block suballocation features.
Also, I am new to compiling, so if I compile a program on Arch, is the program registered with the package manager so I can easily remove it?  Is the program updated through the package manager?

  • HT204266 I've just updated iOS and restored all my apps. But the games I bought have disappeared off my phone. How do I restore them

I just updated to iOS 5 and restored all my apps but the games I bought have disappeared off my iPhone and don't apear in iTunes on my computer. How do I restore them?

Download them again from the App Store. As long as you're signed in from the same account, you won't be charged again.
    Best of luck.

  • Installed latest iTunes 10.4 iPhone updated IOS and works and syncs fine now iTunes locks up and hard crashes syncing my iPad Gen1 and while downloading IOS update for iPad times out

  • Hello, I don't know if the thread like this exists. I just bought myself shiny iPad mini( just for Baldurs gate). But it's not ok. Playlists aren't syncing- they're on iPad but non-playable

It is seen only on iTunes in tab 'on this iPad' but playlists are shaded, grey. When i unplug device, there is nothing on music. Also no 'Other' data or sth like this. I'm checking playlists, they're adding themselves to the bar on the bottom( where You can see how much space is left. But when i try to sync- voilá. Audio disappear And no playlists on iPad. I'm using newest iTunes. I wanted to the iPhone archives to restore iPad. Aaah btw- they don't see each other when i'm trying to pair them with BT. I want to send photos from iPhone, because iPad didn't downloaded all my photos from iCloud and instead of having 230 i have 7. What is wrong??

An owner has a variety of means to assist someone who finds his lost iPad, and is motivated to return it. Writing a phone number on the back, for example, preferably prior to losing it.
From what you describe, your motivation to return it greatly exceeds the owner's motivation for having it returned.
You can avoid this sort of trouble by not taking other people's stuff. Having done that, now it's your problem.

  • I just purchased myself an iPad.  I set it up and now my messages will not work on it.

I need help restoring my messages to my iPad.

The title of your post says "now my messages will not work".

    Doesn't make sense.
Is this an iMessage problem or Mail problem?

  • My ipod is stuck on a white screen after i tried to update IOS and turns on and off by itself :/

ok so last night im textin my sis with this app and i thought she was done texting me so i decided to update my ipod to IOS 6 and it took FOREVER just to download it idk why but anyways it said i needed a power source or a battery level over 50% so i just charged it with my wire nd wall charger. but the thing is about the wire is tht it teeds to have a problem charging it has to be in ceartain postions or shape for it to charge so when i plugged it in it had the charging icon at the top so i clicked install nd when i clicked install it said verifying update or something like that but after a couple seconds when i clicked it my sis sent me a text and i acciedently clicked lauched but eventually it shutdown to countine the update. so i waited for about 5 mins or less and i find that the little bar at the bottom froze so i shut the ipod off using the home and the power button. but then when i pressed then power button to turn it back on it showed me the apple logo then the screen dims just a little bit then the screen goes to a light blue and im like ***? so i shut if off again the same way i did the first but this time it turned on by itself and repeated the cycle untill i shut it off. so when ever i shut it off, i turns on BY ITSELF shows the logo for like 5 sec dims, then goes to a blue screen. but i tried repeating the cycle this one time nd at first it faded to white. then again i tried this time it when to blue then it changed to black very qucikly. but now i just left it on a white screen because it was the most common color of frozzen screens when i looked at gogle for answers. and now im soo ****** cuz i had just deleted alot of pics and some apps for the IOS 6 update -___-

You may have to do the following
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Updated IOS and Av cable no longer gives video

The genetic AV composite Cable worked prior to  recent IOS update on my ipad.  Now when I connect the cables the ipad screen reads "This device is not supported by ipad" and I only get sound on my analog TV.  Prior to update, I was able to get both sound and video on the TV.  Is there anything I can do to get the video back?

I think it probably has to do with the resolution update. The analog tv probably won't display the high resolution content from the iPad. Unfortunately I don't think you can go back to previous iOS version.
