  • I've just updated firefox and now it will not open at all. Please help!

I use gmail and a couple of days ago I started having trouble accessing it and in fact any google related site. Apparently my version of firefox was not supported so I updated to the current version this morning but then found that firefox would not open at all. There are no error messages. I have tried restoring my settings to those of yesterday but although my system says I have returned to the old version 3.5.15 it still will not open. I can now only access the internet by using an ancient version of Microsoft Internet Explorer - which is also not supported by gmail. Although I'm limping on I could really do with some help!!

  • Firefox start/search page will not function.

I still use the Firefox search page as my home page. When I attempt to use this system nothing happens. I will type in what I am trying to search, hit enter or click search. and it is though the page does not recognize any of my triggers to the page. The cursor does turn into a small hand when I scroll over the search button, it just doesn't respond when I try to trigger it. I do not recall the update that made this happen as I only recently was able to remove an anti-virus program that defaulted my search page to its service rather than that of Firefox.

Is this about the about:home page?
Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Check the <b>browser.search.defaultenginename</b> pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.
    *browser.search.defaultenginename
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the <b>browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone</b> pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the <b>about:config</b> page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
#Open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar
#Type in the Filter bar: mstone
#Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
    #Close and restart Firefox
If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.

  • I just loaded Firefox 4 but I do not have a Firefox Button

I have downloaded the new version but there is no Firefox Button.
I have the File, Edit, View, History etc options and saw something that suggested this might be compatible with Windows XP. I am running Windows 7

To get the new style interface you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

No additional details - just can't figure out why the search history will not clear.

when i go to Music > Artist > All, as you suggested, i see all the albums i have listed. doesn't really relate to my problem with artists with songs in one album, as well as song w/o album set, and the latter not showing up.
but that reminds me, why is it when i go to the All section from a particular artist and they do have more than one album (or even no albums), the order of the songs is in the order they are in the albums.. if i wanted the order it is on albums, i would have selected that album for example.. it would be nice if the songs were in alphabetical order when you're NOT browsing by album, making a particular song easier to find (what if you have thirteen albums for example and u aren't sure which album a song is on, now you have to scroll through a seemingly random ordered list to find one song, alphabetical would be SOOOO helpful!)

backup your iPhoto library and launch iPhoto while holding the option and command keys down until the first aid window appears - repair your database and if necessary rebuild the database

  • My iphoto will not launch, justs loads and freezes

my iphoto will not launch, justs loads and freezes i cn nor get to my photos

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff: What version of iPhoto. What version of the Operating System. Details. What were you doing when the problem arose? Did it ever work properly? Step-by-step descriptions of how you got to this issue. If something doesn't work, are there error messages? What happens when you try to do this thing? And what steps have you tried already to solve the issue. With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that a helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • HT1338 When I try to start my Garageband 6.05 I get a repetitive message that the core audio midi will not start. If I choose to ignore it, report it or reopen it, it just keeps coming up and garage will not load or start up?  Any suggestions?  THanks

I'm just guessing at this point, but I suspect that you have installed a midi driver on your computer for some external device, and, since GarageBand's midi capabilities are limited in some ways, chances are your audio/midi driver is asking GarageBand to do something more than it's made to do, causing core audio's midi function to crash.
If that's the case, you might want to try adjusting your midi device's driver settings, or uninstalling your midi device's driver, and then see if GarageBand starts up normally without it.

  • I just installed Lightroom 5. It will not open. I have clicked on the desktop icon as well as the start menu button with no results. What am I missing?

I just installed Lightroom 5. It will not open. I have clicked on the desktop icon as well as the start menu button with no results. What am I missing?

I had the same problem, and I believe it is caused by having the Creative Cloud application doing the updating of LR.  I "fixed" the problem by:
    1. Uninstall Lightroom
    2. Download the stand-alone LR 5.6 installer from Product updates
    3. Install LR 5.6 using the stand-alone installer, instead of using the Creative Cloud application.

  • Firefox opens up but will not open ANY links or websites

Basically fire fox will open to the homepage and that's it. If I type in the search bar or link/navigation bar and hit enter, nothing will happen. Clicking on a bookmark or a link from the history will not do anything. FIrefox simply will not respond. Using another browser gets working results, so my internet isn't the problem.
I went back to firefox 3 to get things working again. I Tried to re-install firefox 18 again and everything installs correctly but NOTHING works.
So any help would be appreciated.

I have this problem as well, so far I have reset firefox, updated, reset again, restored my computer to an earlier date, lost all my bookmarks, retrieved them thanks to a backup, reset again, and even saw somewhere to delete the places.sqlite files so I did and restarted firefox. Basically nothing has fixed firefox. I really need my firefox to work as it is used in a shop to order parts and stuff and all the usernames for various sites are saved in firefox, without which I have to call around to numerous parts stores to get my usernames and passwords reset so I can access the sites from chrome. I really dont want to as I like firefox. Any help at all?

Firefox 3.6.8 will not start. I have to go to safe start, click reset to default, ok, then the shutdown box appears, I click cancel and it will open. I have rest profile, uninstalled and reinstalled, clicked alll he boxes on safe start, tried an older version need help. in English
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== either after I last updated to 3.6.6 or .7 or reset my inernet exploerer values to default

I had same problem where Firefox 3.6.8 would not start or open. Spent many hours trying different things to fix it. Uninstall of previous version and reinstall did not make any difference. Finally, after uninstalling Firefox, I searched for Firefox folders and files on my computer, deleted and removed all Firefox folders and files - deleted anything and everything related to Firefox so that it will be as if I was going to download Firefox for the first time ever. Then, using another browser, I downloaded Firefox 3.6.8 and installed it. It could be that some Add-Ons or something else from the older version of Firefox or profile was interfering with the new one. It was easier to delete remove everything and install all over again clean than to figure out which part was causing the problem.
Keep in mind, when you delete all Firefox folders and files from your computer, you are deleting all your bookmarks and all your Add-ons. If you want to keep those bookmarks, you might want to save the URLs someplace safe to bookmark them again before deleting them. You need to re-install the Add-ons also. Upon installation, it asks if you want to import bookmarks and settings from another browser or settings you might have. I imported them from my other browser. Now, Firefox works. I also installed up-to-date Add-ons.
I hope this helps. Always keep more than one browser functioning on your computer, just in case one fails.
