Just lost last import....?

I was in the process of importing PSD files into LR1.4....(CR2 files that I edited in the Camera Raw dialog box...saved as PSD files) to an existing folder dated 6-20-09 and the whole last import disappeared...200 some files...it shows "0" files...I hadn't backed up the catolog in the past couple of days...I normally do it weekly...the original files as well as the PSD files are on my backup but all the adjustments I made in LR are gone...is there any way to restore it to yesterday without a backup? I haven't had this issue before...but I just re-installed both CS3 and Lightroom due to issues with lockups. I've been working in both over the past several days with no issues until tonight...:(

If the camera is the same model, maybe the photo naming of your camera was the same. If iPhoto find another one with the same name it will ask to replace it or not. Don't you have a Time Machine backup?
Sorry but that is not correct - iPhoto handles this just fine - remember the TOU requirement that you test answers before posting them so you do not post incorrect inforamation
As to the OP's question there are two probably causes
1 - incorrect date setting not the camera - for this you can find the photos by selecting one in the last import, right clicking and showing event - you can correct by selecting the incorrect photos and using the adjust time/data command and setting the camera correctly
2 - incorrect event sort - correct by setting it correctly - view menu ==> sort events

  • Lost "Last Import" after Time Machine restore

I recently had a hard drive fail on me but was up to date on Time Machine backups. So after a rebuild of 10.6.2, I restored my system from Time Machine. But now, I noticed that the last batch of pictures I imported before the hard drive went, are gone. They are still listed in iPhoto under Last Imported. And their Events Descriptions are showing up but all pictures are just empty grey squares, leading me to believe the links were lost. So I opened up the contents of the iPhoto Library and sure enough those file folders were gone also.
Any ideas what could have happened? Maybe ways to get them back?
I'm assuming the pictures are gone at this point - about 215 including my son's 3rd Birthday. Fortunately though, I have lo-rez versions on my iPhone.

Experienced this myself today with the latest iPhoto on a Time Machine restore after a failed hard drive.
I would guess the cause is that iPhoto writes the 'last import' into a cache file, and not to the Originals folder on the hard drive until the next import. Since Time-Machine excludes many cache files from its backup to save time and space from meaningless change (caches should always be able to be rebuilt), the photos were never copied to the backup drive.
However, this is merely a guess, and is the only reason I could fathom as to why Time Machine did not back up photos that have been on the disk for over a month. Quick testing with local files wrote directly to the disk, which makes me think it may be only from a camera or some other device, but I am not sure exactly.
If someone happens to find a way to get back the photos, let us know. Exploring the iPhoto library in Time Machine yielded me nothing, neither did rebuilding the cache database or looking for orphaned photos.

    Hi Suns_Corona,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and forgot your password to fingerprint scanner. Here is a link to troubleshoot the fingerprint scanner password. Before troubleshooting make sure you clean the fingerprinter scanner.

  • Library Inspector's "Last Import" shows nothing after import.

Photos are imported, but the "Last Import" option under Library>Recent>Last Import is always blank after an import. Why? How do I turn on?
I just imported 301 photos, but as you can see from the image, with "Last Import" selected, nothing is in the window. If I go to projects or photos, the import is there. I want to be able to see Just the "Last Import"

It looks like you have a filter set on your "Last Import" view.
Try to clear the search field in the Browser - it should show "Showing All"

  • Why can't i see my last import!? i just imported them and now they don't show up it was about 1500 pictures and now i'm afraid i've lost them. any one experience this?

Please help me find my last import! i just erased everything on my iphone because it came up as imported and now it doesnt appear under the last import tab!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • I just lost all recent updates to my iCal from the last days. Can this possibly happen ??? What can I do to restore iCal with the most recent updates?

Hello All, yesterday afternoon I just lost all recent updates to my iCal from the last days. How can this possibly happen ??? It may have occured after I chose the Refresh function after I had problems searching my iCal for a particular event. I think my iPhone was also not properly synched in the morning but I didn't pay it much attention and opened iCal on my MacBookAir instead.
How can I prevent this from happening again?
What can I do to restore iCal with the most recent updates?

Random glitch.  It doesn't matter; if you didn't backup the data, then you can't recover the data.
In the future, for any 'important' data, back up that data regularly.  Forward the 'important' text messages to your email.  Trasnfer your photos & videos to your computer, etcetera.

I am not expecting it to be returned. I just want the unit to become useless already so that stolen/lost  Iphone or any kind of apple brand gadget will no longer be of interest by others to buy it from any thief or any person who will resell it in just a small amount.

Sorry, but if you did not set up Find My iPhone, then unless your iPhone is set up with a company Microsoft Exchange server or other mobile device management system, there is no way to wipe the iPhone of its data, though if you had a screen lock in it, the thieves/finder will probably restore it and wipe the data anyway. There is no way to lock the iPhone permanently to prevent someone from using your iPhone, though you can report the loss to your cell carrier and they may be able to blacklist it from connecting to their network.
    Regards.

OK, here are a set of screenshots with my step by step - maybe you will be able to spot where I've gone awry:
I find a photo in the Library that I will delete from an album:
I go down to my Albums and find the picture in one of them:
I hover over the pic so the little down arrow appears in the bottom right-hand corner. I click on it, then click on the Trash Can in the window that drops down:
    Gone from the Album:
    Gone from the Library:
    In the Trash:
    Whaddup with that?

  • I just downloaded 950 photos on iPhoto and deleted them off my camera and now under last import there is only 4 photos and i can't find the others?? There is a whole bunch of blank events in the library with no photos in them all with todays date? Help!!

Yes - you need a min of 10 GB just to operate - with just 1 you certainly can lose photos and other critical things - you need to make space immediately - probably by moving your iPhoto library to a volume formatted Mac OS extended -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

You did not steal my thunder. You asked for advice, I provided advice. I assumed that since you nor the "support team" could find your files that you did not have any backup. You should have told us you do regular backups. We have no way to know otherwise unless you tell us.

I just lost some photos stored on my iphone by saying "yes" to restoring my phone to the latest back up (this is a new phone having had the previous phone stolen).  I (stupidly) didn't realise this would delete photos I had taken since the last back up. Unfortunately, if these photos had not been transferred off the phone in some way, before restoring from the previous backup, they are now gone.
Did you have iCloud's Photostream feature setup? If so, they may have been uploaded to that.
