Just lost over 500 mails from E61 Blackberry folde...

Hi all
My first post here. I was looking around earlier and discovered that my Blackberry version was 6.18 and there was a newer 6.28, so I downloaded the newer version. I also downloaded the desktop manager to sync my phone with my pc.
When I ran the desktop manager it appears its for BES only. My blackberry is internet based with O2 in Ireland, so I couldnt use it.
I then decided that before I install 6.28 of BB Connect, I should do a backup as I could not use Desktop Manager, so I did a full backup to my SD card and ALSO did a full backup to pc.
I then installed the new BB Connect and when I started I had no mails and had to send service books again. I then got these through and still njothing, so I did an SD card restore and restarted phone. Still nothing!!!! Then I did a PC Suite restore and restart and still nothing!!!!!!!!!!!
Help! I had over 500 mails there from the last 4 weeks and all are gone.
A. Is there any way I can get them back?
B. Can I sync them with my PC in future to stop this happening?

I would agree... you'd think the restore would take some amount of time.
If the emails are more important to you than anything else on your phone right now, you might consider trying to reset your phone... and hope that the restore can run successfully then. But i'm not all that hopeful that it will work.

Why did Aperture just download over 500 duplicates from my camera.

Despite having ticked 'do not import duplicates', Aperture imported over 500 duplicates from my Canon 7D.
Anyone have an idea why this happened? I take it I have no choice but to go through and remove these manually.

The built-in dupe-sleuth is rather dim-witted. All it checks is file name and the date-time stamp (iirc). If you change either -- for instance, you rename files on import -- it assumes (not without reason) that the files are different (they are) and imports them.
I just shoot a separator frame each time I put a card in a camera. (Point at a light source, hold up one hand with a finger extended, and take an out-of-focus shot. Easy to pick out. Every exposure preceeding the last separator frame has been already imported.) Because I _always_ rename my files on import, I could not use Aperture's "Do not import duplicates" function.
Grouping (and then deleting) the most-recently imported dupes is easy. Select the "Photos" container, and filter for the import sessions that are most recent. You will have to add the Filter Rule "Import Session".

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

I recently switched over to Mail from Eudora

I recently switched over to Mail from Eudora because of problems with Eudora and DSL that remain unresolved. However,I've run into an immediate problem.
I retrieve mail from two locations: Home (DSL and now using Mail) and work (T1 and using Eudora). If I read, reply, and delete my mail from home, with Mail, when I next check my mail at work, all of that mail I've read and deleted appears. Mail seems not to be deleting anything off the actual mail servers. I've deleted, emptied trash, deleted trash, etc., but that mail isn't really gone, and that's not really helpful.
Am I simply missing a setting somewhere? A box that has to be checked that says "Really, no kidding, delete the bleedin' mail"? This is not a problem I've encountered with said competing product.

If for a POP type account, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Advanced tab for the account preferences, is Remove from server after retrieving a message selected and if so, what is your selection below for removing messages from the server?

If you have no backups, and data has been lost, then it's lost forever. The rest of your data will inevitably follow if you don't back up.

Welcome to the Support Communities!
I would suggest you transfer your iTunes purchases from the iPhone to the computer first.
Then in your iTunes library on the computer, find and remove the duplicates.
Then resync to your Nike.

Get mails from outlooks personal folder (.pst)

Hi,
I am using JavaMail to parse mails from the imap server.The application gets new mails from inbox and parses it as required.however i need to modify this to get new mails from a personal folder(.pst)file instead of the inbox on the server.
Any help in this direction will be appreciated.

qmail to your java application, that would then do
something to those mails.
but have you figured out what you want to do to those
mails?
javax.mail mostly helps your pogs to speak pop3 smtp
and other protocols, but in your case there's no need
for that, if you just need to parse those messages,
then just parse them.
what seems to be the problem? what to you want to
achieve.Again....I've all ready. I've the script, I've the pipe from qmail, I know how to receive it from standad input...
Could you please send me a little example about how to parse the received mail I'll have in a BufferedReader or InputStream to get subject, from and body (decoding MIME partes if the mail is MIME type ??
This is the problem.

How do I switch to an older version of my library? Itunes asked me to find the library, and I seem to have picked the wrong one. Ive lost over 500 songs!

Itunes told me it couldn't find the library, and asked me to find it. I apparently picked a version from years ago, because over 500 of my songs are missing, and some I deleted a long time ago have reappeared. I see a file labelled "itunes library" from yesterday (the correct one), but I can't find a way to make itunes use it. This screwup is costing me several hundred dollars at the moment!

I assume that this new interface AirPort Utility you are referring to is version 6.0. If that is the case you can download and install version 5.6. Both can co-exist on the same machine and I would recommend that you keep both of them. Then use 5.6 to administer the base stations for your networking requirements.

When will Tiger work properly?!?!? I just lost over 1000 of my addresses!!

Tiger has been a complete pain in the *** for me since day one. With every upgrade, I pray that it's been fixed. 10.4.4 seemed be better. And YET, just an hour or so ago, I lost my entire data base of business customers from my address book. And it might be permanent. I just spent the last hour trying to salvage as much as I could from my home computer and the same bug that caused me to lose everything appears not to be a fluke as Address Book is locking up on searches, just like what happened before it happened on the other computer. This never happened before and I just lost data worth $thousands to me. Tens of $thousands actually. Exactly what the **** is going on at Apple? Does anyone know how to find my address and restore them? Address book won't recognize any of the files from the looks of it. Now I'm worried of losing all of what little I have left.

I doubt if you've lost them, only just can't find them in the current account. They're there somewhere! Might be something like this:

Can't import mail from OS9 backup folder

I recently got an Intel Mac Mini and had the Apple Store transfer files from my G3 PB, running OS9.2. My mail from an old version of Mozilla shows up in a DATA BACKUP folder on the mini. For instance there is an "Inbox" which opens with TextEdit. "Inbox.msf" opens in Excel. When I open the OSX Mail application and go to Import Mailboxes I checked Netscape/Mozilla and tried to choose "Inbox" but it is grey and not selectable. Is there a way to do this? Thank you for your help, but I figured it out on my own.
Here is how I did it.
1. If you are moving "Mailboxes" you've created on a PPC Mac to an Intel Mac
you must have the Same Versions of OS X running on each system.
Please note that this is for people who are just setting up there NEW INTEL MAC and wish to transfer "Mailboxes" from the PPC Mac, and can not get the Migration Assistant to work.
If you've already created New "Mailboxes" on the Intel system they may be overwritten/replaced using this process. Resulting in the loss of any newly created "Mailboxes" on the Intel.
2. Be sure you have Tiger updated to the same versions on both systems.
3. On the PPC Mac, go to your Users/(your user name here)/Library/Mail folder.
4. Locate in the Mail folder a folder named "Mailboxes".
5. Copy the "Mailboxes" folder from the PPC Mac to an external hard drive.
6. Eject the hard drive from the PPC Mac and turn off the hard drive.
7. Connect the external hard drive to the Intel Mac and turn on the hard drive.
8. Wait for the external drive to mount.
9. Be sure that the MAIL application is not running on the Intel Mac, then go to Users/(your user name here)/Librery/Mail.
10. Look inside the Mail Folder. Do you see a folder named "Mailboxes"?
11. If yes, see step 13.
12. If no, see step 14.
13. Stop and I will try to post another solution for tranfering "Mailboxes" into an existing "Mailboxes" folder so you don't overwrite or replace your new "Mailboxes"
14. If you don't see a folder named "Mailboxes" in your Mail folder, do the following.
15. Drag and drop the "Mailboxes" folder you copied onto the external drive, into the "Mail" folder on the Intel Mac.
16. After all of the files have been copied to the Intel Mac, Start the MAIL application.
17. All of the "Mailboxes" you copied over should now appear in the "Mailboxes" list under your mail accounts list.
Hope this helps anybody else who has run into this problem.

E-mail from a Blackberry 9360

I recently purchased this phone and have been trying to set up the thing to recieve e-mails through wi-fi connections as I am pay as you go with O2.
In the e-mail set up all i have is enterprise activation, there is no other alternative but to use this, not even BIS.
I have also looked into the e-mail management but i am unable to open e-mail set up, why do i have to contact my wireless service provider for a bolt on i don't want. The host routing table has no entries,
I also have a playbook and registering my e-mail address although not easy for Talk Talk, just ain't the same with this smart phone (is that the right wording), should have stayed android, e-mails with my HTC was simple easy and uncomplicated.
If i may add your web site aint easy to navigate around either, frustrating as hell!

HT1420 After updating to 11 for itunes and ios 7 for phone - I lost over 3500 songs from my itunes. My ipod still has 4100 songs on it less the most recent ones I have purchased. Can't my ipod be used to recreate the library in itunes?

After updating itunes to 11.1 and phone to ios7, I lost more than 3500 songs from my library. My ipod has 4185 songs less the most recent I purchased.
Is there no way an ipod can be used to restore the lost music? Yes, some of it was from cds but were done a long time ago. Obviously it was acceptable for me to compile this music then, now they want to say since it all wasn't purchased, I can't have what was already mine? Plus I do not use nor want to use the cloud, but it keeps creeping up even though I don't want or use it. HELP!

Ideally you would have backed up your iTunes library from your old PC so that you could simply migrate the iTunes library into the new one. If you don't have access to the old hard drive or a backup see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Though it is probably too late to recover anything from the nano it should explain how to get anything from the iTunes store that you haven't already gone and has some useful tips should you ever be in the same position again.

Whenever you connect iPhone in iTunes, it syncs and a backup is created. Check backup folder if you have that time-stamped file saved.
