You have two separate issues here. although both were created with the recent changes on your network.
Find out why the Time Capsule is blinking amber as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the the Time Capsule icon
Click directly on the amber dot....and another window will open to explain more about the issue...along with suggested actions that you can take to remedy the issue.
If you want your Mac to connect first to the "new" network....
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Network
Click on WiFi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
Make sure that the name of the network that you want the Mac to connect to first appears at the top of the connection order list. Drag the name to the top if it is not there now.
Click OK
Click Apply
Now your Mac will attemp to connect first to the network that you positioned at the top of the connection order list.

If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.

You can, but how are you going to back up those other files? When (not if) your Time Capsule fails, you risk losing them. See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for details.

Not sure what you mean. You have to connect a computer, either via Ethernet cable or wirelessly, to read or write to the disk.

Your Time Capsule was programmed to remember the settings to "join" your "old" wireless network. It is still looking for that network to connect, but cannot because the network is no longer there.
You will need perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule and reconfigure it again with the correct settings for your new wireless network.
I am sure that you know the name of the network, but you may not know the exact type of wireless security that your new wireless router is using.
Check your documentation to find out about this, as you will need to provide the Time Capsule with the correct information to join the new network.
If the Time Capsule does not receive the right settings, it will not be able to join the network and you will see a blinking amber light instead of green on the Time Capsule after you save the configuration settings by clicking Update.
The Factory Default Reset is a bit tricky....you almost need 3 hands.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Wait 4-5 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow approximately 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule to "join" your wireless network
A green light about 25-30 seconds after you click Update will signal a successful setup. If you only get the blinking amber light...you will need start all over with the Factory Default Reset and try again.
The reset will not affect the existing backups on your Time Capsule, but you will need to reset Time Machine again to get backups going. Post back if you need info on this.

New non-apple modem/router can't find old Time Capsule

I've been using a Time Capsule for both backup and wifi for years. But now I have a brand new modem/router (non-apple). I wanted to turn off the wifi on the Time Capsule and just use it for backup. I found instructions on how to do that and did it, but when I went to update to the new settings there was an error and now my system cannot find the Time Capsule, even though it is plugged in, connected and showing a steady green light. The TC is connected to the modem via ethernet and did show up long enough for me to change the settings so I'm confident I have the right physical setup. I've tried restarting both my computer and the TC, but Airport Utility still can't detect a device. What do I do now?

Full factory reset on the TC..
Then plug into it directly with ethernet and do the configuration.. bridge mode.. off wireless if you want.. although there is nothing wrong with still running the wireless and the 5ghz is much faster than using wifi usually on a Mac at least from close range. Update and plug the TC back into the modem.. this is usually necessary whenever you move things around.
The Factory Reset.
Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.

How can I get my time capsule and airport express (as a network extension) working properly together?

I bought a time capsule a while back and connected it to my modem, and it seems to be backing up my hard drives but I can't tell if I'm getting my wireless signal from my time capsule or from the modem itself, which used to before I bought the time capsule.
It's bugging me because I'm trying to get my airport express to work as an extension to my network, and airport utility half the time can't pick up the express. I heard that it will only work of the time capsule is working as the base station,and I'm not 100% sure this is the case.
Also, how far can the airport express be from my time capsule for it to be picked up? I tried resetting it which helped to start with, but when I was setting it up to extend my network it just told me that there was an error and to try again, which I did with the same result.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Always do setups with ethernet.. setting up wireless via wireless is like cutting off the branch you are sitting on.
You do not need the TC in the network to do the setup.
Plug it by itself into the computer. Same with AE. But do each separately.
Give the TC a different wireless name.. like TC.. then you will know the TC wireless is separate and different to the main modem router. Simply allow it to be extended.
Plug it back into the main modem.
Now do the AE.. set it to extend the wireless of the TC.
When you do this check the signal level. The airport utility v5 has a full diagnostic of wireless client levels.. do not use v6 utility.. it is useless. The AE is placed somewhere in between the TC and the clients you want to connect.. it has to get decent signal itself to extend wireless. And there is no way we can tell you how far apart.. pick the half way point.. around about and suck and see. If it doesn't work move closer to the TC.
Count the walls the signal is going through.. about 15% signal loss for each one.. if angle is acute 20%.. floors are worse.. they might be 20-25%..

No you will need to purchase the upgrade. However if you own other Macs you want to upgrade once you have purchased Lion then you can upgrade the additional machines. Of course the additional machines must be using the same Apple ID. As long as the additional machine's meet the minimum system requirements listed below you are all set.

Can't get to Time capsule back-ups -- Connection Failed and "Connect As" does nothing

I had to replace my hard drive. I am trying to access the Time Machine back-ups. I can see the back-up volume in the Finder under the "Shared" category, but when I try to connect to the back-up volume, I immediately get "Connection Failed" and the "connect as" button does nothing when I click on it.
Do I have to re-start backups before I can get into the old back-ups?? Any advice on how to get "Connect As" to let me connect?

I just went from PC to MAC. Have a MAC Mini and wanted to get a time capsule for backups. I would like to use it as a wired device instead of wireless. Would me connecting it to my router do the trick? Can I then use the LAN ports in the back of the capsule like I would a network switch? Can I just disable the wireless router part of the capsule as I already have an ADSL2+ Wireless Router.

Yes, that is also fine.. ethernet being the cable you run.. !!
You still don't have to use a TC.. which is still a rather expensive box for the job.. an Airport Extreme would offer the same exactly minus hard disk for cheaper price and more than likely better lifespan.. TC with internal power supply run too hot.

Buffer Override and Can't uninstall Quick time

I just upgraded to Quick Time Pro for $32.00 and can't get quick time or itunes to open. I tryed to uninstall Quick Time but it says error and can't uninstall. I get a Buffer Override when trying to open. I believe that I just got ripped off for $32.00. Apple must be short of money and ripping us off.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. See notes 1 & 3 below the box in particular, and include the ..\Program Files\QuickTime folder in the removal process.
Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
