Just need some confirmation

I figured I'd give this one last shot before I try mailing my iPod off for repairs.
So my iPod locked up one day. It's happened before, so I try restarting it. The Apple logo appeared, but then told me to go to the support website.
I tried hooking it up to both an AC and USB 2 port to charge it enough for my computer to recognize it (PC/WinXP).
The charging battery icon came on, but it would never charge enough for it to be recognized.
I've tried everything on the support page, so it just seems to me that the battery is too far gone.
Any other ideas?

Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. We've found that in many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. BTW, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.

First question: Yes very much. You can write simple logic for reconnection. Also there is new feature called Smart Reconnect which you can use for this purpose.

Second question: - I am not aware of such plug-in personally but there are high chances that it might be available. But i want to know first how you want to achieve it - are you sub titles not embedded in movie itself or is it separate from movie content and if yes in what format. Even if one is not available for ready to use - i think developing one should not be big deal - it can simple as overlay on your client side which gets populated with text at runtime.

[VIA] Just need some input on a problem I have

I need the experts on this forum to help me with a problem I have. The M/B (6590 KT4 Socket A) had a few problems a while see. Since that time I have not updated my PSU as advised so I expect some abuse for that .
Any way I managed in the to fix that problem as you can see. However a further problem occured which was that the PC ,at will , would restart - this ended being the reset switch which I disconnected and this has never happened since. Now I have another problem ! .
The PC will simply hang with no response at all. It seems only to happen when I am running the capture software. I have checked for updates and applied these to the program (hauppauges WnTV). This set up was running on another PC with a M/B (in my opinon) of inferior quality without a problem (I have since sold that PC).
I will admit I have not run the PC without this program running to see if that is the cause. However I just needed input on suggestions. My PSU is as I said earlier the same as before which is an X Pro 400w these are the shameful Voltage rails :
+5v = 35a
+12v = 20a
-5v = 0.5v
-12v = 0.8v
3.3v = 22a
5+VSB=3a
Also when the PC hung I got the following readings from PCAlert:
1.76 Vcore
3.3v = 3.26v
+5v= 4.97
+12v = 12.24
CPU temp = 44c
System temp = 38c
I must admit that the previous PC had a separate USB2 (which is how the Happauge unit connects) card whereas this PC I use the onboard card. I was also thinking about the RAM as it was one I bought from a computer fair (hears groans) - This is normally something I do not do.
Help input would be appreciated

If you have done, and nothing happens, it would show that the capture device/driver is giving problems. Is that USB device self powered or takes it's power from USB port ? It's running at USB 2.0 speed ? 22 A to 3.3v. rail is poor for your Mobo. You should post your complete PC specs.
I dont really have any other software than can do that. The USB device is powered by itself.

Make sure that the pathway to were you want to save the captured video is set correctly. I believe you can set the Audio quality and the Frames Per Second (FPS) and I think that you can set the compression, If in doubt try it without compression and see if that works. I too have a TV card and it seems to me that you are having a config problem. Hope that helps.

Just needed some clarification regarding the Viewer Builder and actually publishing your App...

If someone could let me know if my understanding is correct, that'd be a huge help... So I've designed my publication in InDesign and exported the .zip file from the Folio Producer. I've created all of my certificates/splash screens/icons. Lastly, I just recently went through the steps of the Viewer Builder. I'm now at the stage of this process that requires me to purchase the $395 single edition so that I can enter the serial number in the last stage of the Viewer Builder. Now, to my knowledge, once I get the serial number, Viewer Builder will then give me access to an .ipa file and a .zip file. The .ipa file is for me to test on my iPad, and the .zip would be used to distribute to the App Store. I guess this is where I get confused... Let's say after I test the .ipa on my iPad, I don't like some part of my publication. I know how to update my own documents obviously, and I understand that I would have to export another .zip file from the Folio Producer, in turn requiring me to edit the exported folio link in the Viewer Builder. If I had to do that, would I need to purchase another single edition serial number since the original App was edited? Or would the same serial number apply since I'm editing that same App in the Viewer Builder? My next question is somewhat similar. Let's say all of the information is up to date and I go ahead and publish the App to the App Store. However, maybe a month later or some time in the future, I needed to update a phone number or email address--some little detail like that. Again, I understand that I'd have to update the export link in the Viewer Builder, but would I then need to create a new app since my app was already published? Would I then have to purchase another $395 single edition serial number just so that I can update my information? This seems to be the only thing in this whole process that I could use some clarification on so that I don't run into any surprises in the future. Any help would be great, thanks!

When you have purchased the serial, you can rebuild your app with your updated content, as long as you use the same bundleID (applicationID), that is tied to your Apple mobile provisioning profile. The serial number is valid for a one year period.

ASA 5505 unable to access ASDM ( just needs some ports ope and FWDing setup)

I was able to access the ASDM launcher in the browser yesterday   via    https://192.168.111.1/admin and I was stuck there as the browser version says that my ASA image does not work with my ASDM version...      So i tried some trouble shooting and think that i may have changed the image to an image that does not exist.     (I'm not sure where it is that I would actually place that image either)    Now i am unable to access through the browser at all.
Anyways, I am ok with SSH/CLI and have been using my firewall in this manner.   I am walking into this companies current configuration and simply need to do the following:
I need to OPEN ports 9000, 85, 40085, 49005 so that my mobile device can pull my security cameras in the office

This doesn't specifically answer your question, but if you want to get ASDM functionality back you need to load a newer version onto flash memory and then point the ASA to that with the configuration command:
asdm image disk0:/asdm-version.bin
You are running  ASA Version 9.0(2) so you need at least version 7 of ASDM to support that. Interestingly enough your "asdm image" statement in your config points to asdm-509.bin and you have asdm-631.bin and asdm-645.bin on flash. None of those will work. I suggest loading up asdm-721.bin and changing the asdm image statement accordingly. I am pretty sure a reboot is required after that is done.

Just need some info

IMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues...i read the page that tells how i would now that there is a problem with the Video/Power issues. My serial # is off by 2 digits and I bought my iMac in July but it might have been on the shelf for longer than that.
Also, I was watching a DVD earlier on the computer today and when i was ejecting the DVD the screen had some horizontal lines or some kind of distortion for about 5 seconds. It's all fine but would this make it eligible for the Repair Extension Program.

You just bought the machine and from what I can gather its starting to manifest some video problems. I wouldn't worry about the extension I would take it back and get it taken care of plus buy Apple care.

I am pretty sure i know but i just need some backup

So this is a question far below the expertise of anyone here. But I need to know for sure. I am working in collaboration with colleague to produce a video. He is gone for a month and I would like to play around with what he has so far. I do not want to permanently do anything to his version however. So I just copied the folder that included all of the media files and everything into another area on the computer. I will be able to just edit my own version and not his right? It won't do anything to his version of the video if I open it from the area where I saved it right?

No. No. No. Now you've got duplicate media files taking up space for no good reason. What you ought to do (well, anyway what I'd do) is open his project and do a save as Projectname-tyler's copy.fcp Or create a new file of your own and copy the bins from his project to yours. Don't go cluttering up the drives with duplicate media.
Then you can play to your heart's content. FCP is a non-destructive editor. Once you capture a piece of media it stays unchanged on the computer until you delete it. FCP is more like an intelligent database that remembers your requests to do things to a piece of media-- start here, end there, put it in a box over this piece, apply a filter here and there, you get the idea. It's the project file that has all this information, not the folder with the media.

XML Parsing. Just need some guidance.

Hi,
This is my project. I need to be able to read in XML code in my java program and then do necessary tasks such as updating my oracle database with the values. I heard and looked at the java API for that but Im not so sure xml parsing is the correct words that I should be using. Does anyone know of a way to do this or at least somewhere that I could go look for an example.

What you are looking for is either SAX (Simple API for XML) or DOM (Document Object Model).

I've been using Microsoft's "Excel Lite" program for a few years. I don't even know what it's called, but its performance is more limited than Excel, which I've never used.
I've never used a mathematical formula in a spreadsheet. All I do is insert data, which I organize an save as a CSV file, which I then import into a database table. For example, I have a spreadsheet with information on the animal kingdom, arranged by class, order, family, genus and species, all coded by cell background color/pattern and various font styles.
To get to the point, there are two features I've grown to love that I have not found in any other spreadsheet, and I'd like to ask how Numbers compares...
1) Sortable columns - In "Excel Lite," you can sort as many as three columns at a time. If you highlight cells spanning twelve rows, you can sort by one, two or three columns, even if you've only highlighted a single column. You can also sort an entire column (or two or three columns) by simply highlighting an entire column. I discovered that you cannot do this in OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet. I forget the details, but it was clumsy to work with.
So how efficient is Numbers' sort feature? Can it sort three columns or just one? If I want to sort every row in a column(s), can I do so by simply highlighting the column, or do I have to specifically highlight every cell in each row and column I want to sort?
This is the single most important feature I'm looking for.
2) Cell/Font Attributes - OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet has a respectable number of cell background colors to choose from, but I like Excel's approach better. M$ allows you to choose various shades of each color, combine colors to create new colors and also choose background patterns, such as horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines. What scheme does Numbers use?
Here are a few more questions...
How many rows of data can you have in a Numbers spreadsheet? (I think my spreadsheet programs allows about 16,000, while I believe Excel allows 65,000.)
How much text can you insert in a cell? Unfortunately, I can't use my spreadsheet program for storing articles, because each cell will only accept the equivalent of one or two medium paragraphs. I don't expect any other spreadsheet to do better...I'm just wondering if Numbers does allow you to paste entire articles into cells.
I'm fascinated to hear that you can paste images into a Numbers document. Right now I'm organizing images I use on my websites into a spreadsheet, with separate columns for each image's ID, caption, text for the ALT tag, etc. It woul be nice if I could actually see a thumbnail of each image next to its ID and description, sort of like connecting a name with a face. Can you really do that? I would think the file size would be enormous if you were working with hundreds of images.
I assume you can save a Numbers document as a CSV file...right? Is there also a feature that allows you to publish a spreadsheets' content directly into a MySQL database table? (I understand OpenOffice.org has such a feature, though I've never tried it.)
Sorry for the long post. Any feedback on any particular question would be welcome. I HATE everything Microsoft, and I'm not even using Parallels on my MacBook Pro. The only M$ software program I covet is Excel, so I was elated to discover that there may be a worthy competitor out there.

Sorry, I didn't realize there was a free trial version. I just downloaded it, and my first impressions are WOW!
The sort feature is better than the sort feature on "Excel Lite." Just click "Sort and Filter" to bring up the little Sort dialog box. At first, it looks like you can only sort a single column. But clicking the little plus sign on the right opens additional columns. I don't know what the limit is, but it's certainly far more than three.
I also verified that you can paste very large amounts of text in a cell.
Unlike M$'s spreadsheet, there are no cell background patterns, but there are plenty of colors to choose from. Also, it appears that there are far more options for styling text.
I've only worked with it for a few minutes, but, for my purposes, Numbers rocks!

I just need some drivers, READ

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and I have a Athlon 64 3200+, so I got the BETA Microsoft XP x86 Professinal, which is 64 bit, Im sure you have heard this before. So blah blah blah blah.....
I want a link to some drivers that will work with this system... and maybe some tips on installing them because here recently, i have installed some extremly 'messy' drivers.

Just need some things cleared up?

1. Is it good to have you mini go to sleep when not in use?
2. Should I use secure virtual memory?
3. I have heard mixed signals about running the daily, weekly, and monthly scripts with say onyx. Is this good to do or bad. And if good when the computer is asleep automator won't run those right, or do scripts like those run on there own within tiger?

My computer is almost never shut down and NEVER put to sleep.
There are three settings in the Energy Saver prefs panel. My setup is as follows (I have a French system so the actual wording in English may be different than my translation):
Suspend computer activity (i.e., put completely to sleep) NEVER
Suspend screen activity (i.e., darken monitor) after 15 minutes
Suspend disk acrtivity whener possible BOX CHECKED
This means the processor is always running, the screen goes black when I'm away and the hard drive is on standby and is available at any time the processor needs to access disk. All the regular processes, including the nighttime CRON system maintenance processes can run as scheduled and my e-mail can be checked every 240 minutes as scheduled. It avoids any possiblity of sleep-related freezes or crashes that have in the past been a problem with several Mac systems.
In my workplace, there is an extended area network of 1200 Windows computers that are configured in a similar manner. We are not ever allowed to shut down our computers. We can open and close user sessions and the screens go to a corporate logo screensaver after 5 minutes of idleness and a password is required to resume access.
I'm sure there have been hardware failures for a variety of reasons in the last 26 years, but in my workgroup of 60 people, in all that time I recall only one person who had a hardware failure (a dead hard drive). We change hardware about once every five years, on average.
Except for the argument that putting a computer to sleep or turning it off saves a tiny bit more energy than letting it idle like I do, I don't know of any practical reason to use sleep mode or to to shut down completely. Before the present Mac Mini, I ran a PowerMac 8600 for 7 years in the same way and the only hardware component that ever failed was the PRAM battery (in year 6).

To both of your questions I would say: Have one master sheet and on your other sheets, reference the information on your master sheet. To mirror the contents of a cell in another Table or Sheet, type = and then click on the cell you want to reference.

Need some help with a sort

I'm trying to make a program that produces a 2-D array and graphically sorts the numbers inside of it. In one column is the random numbers and in the other are the x values for the bars that represent the length of each random number. What I want the program to do is step through the array and find the smallest random number (in column 0) and move it to the appropriate spot in the array sorting from smallest to largest. As the random numbers in column 0 move I also want the x values in column 1 to swap the same way. I have this set up with a timer so that you can see the sort take place one step at a time but there's something wrong with the way I have my sort set up because it's not working properly. I just need some direction on how to get that part of it to work.
