Just noticed a crack - anyone else got the same?
Just took my MacBook out of it's protective bag and noticed a crack on the base almost directly under the power button. There's a small bump pushing out of the machine almost as if the pressure of turning the machine on is excerting pressure on something inside that is then pushing on the bottom casing and cracking it. The crack moves outward from a central point in a radius of about 1.5cms. It looks really ugly and I'm worried it's going to increase in size. It's the first time I've noticed it. There is also a hairline crack running along the spine of the hinge on the bottom case. I have never dropped my MacBook and am always ultra careful with it.
Has any one else had a similar problem?

Just called Applecare and they've given me a reference number to book it into my nearest service centre.
Yes I did read the other thread here but this seems to me to be a different problem as the crack is in a different place and as I said seems to be caused by something on the inside of the machine exerting pressure on the case when I turn it on. There's a raised bump directly under the power button on the bottom case. That's why I asked if anyone else had experienced this particular problem and I didn't post into the other thread.

MacBook Pro 2009 problems after latest update. Anyone else got the same issues?

A couple of nights ago I decided to update my MacBook Pro to the latest version/update. It all went fine, I installed them, rebooted it and logged into my account as usual.
Then it all started, my finder/spotlight slowed down by atleast 50%, my videofiles both .mkv and .avi started acting funny on searching and playing generally.
I then decided to go surf some on the web(safari), it went fine for the first minute. After that it didn't work at all, pages wouldn't start loading at all, and I had to quit the Safari.app and reboot it to even get the thing to work.
Is there anything I can do about this, or to rephrase: is there anyone else with the same issues?Let's see, starting at the first reply

"I updated it to the latest update" as in taking the updates that was given. I'll "explain" some more: The macbook in question didn't have any new updates in atleast the last 1,5 months, as I've been working 14h++ a day with the same things and didn't really have the time to update before the 22.March. Sorry for not stating the obvious before now, but got kinda frustrated and didn't really think thorough the question, but I'm going to try give the most information I can possibly find!
I installed these updates 22. march:

After that update my video playback started getting harder and harder, I could watch .mkv files but I'd get more and more errors or even playback stops. The macbooks performance in finder did also start slowing down.

after that update my safari stopped working properly and my playback of videos got even worse than they got after my updates the 22. March. Included with these things my finder/spotlight started getting slower and slower, until it got to where it is now with files loading atleast 50% slower than before.

I did not use the repair permissions before 3. June(fter the latest security update)
I simply installed the updates and got prompted with the restart from the updates, followed it and then logged in after the updates was finished with the configuring.
I have now repaired and verified the permissions, and can't seem to find any difference in the performance of my macbook.

I went to switch on my macbook pro this morning, would not switch on could hear fan in background battery 96% but would not turn on, disconnected power supply twice the plugged back in and worked. Has anyone else has this problem. Only had the computer since April 11. Anyone got any similar problems?
AndreaBasic warranty is one year. You can extend the warranty an additional two years when you purchase AppleCare. Don't you read your User Guide? Didn't they explain that when you bought the MBP?

so these seem to be my issues with the phone so far. no matter what i try with my Parrot handsfree the phone will not connect. The general volumes of the phone seem lower than the iphone4, especially when using the new earphones. And i cant say im that impressed with the battery life. Today i made 2 phone calls, updated a facebook status and listened to one album on spotify, this resulting in a pretty much dead battery? doesnt seem right to me considering apple advertised the battery life being able to handle many hours of youtube streaming over 3G?
Ok, this is good info. It means that right now Apache is not able to serve content outside of your machine. That's why even the native browser can't see your site. Once we get that problem solved you should be able to see the site in Edge Inspect as well.
Here's some things to try:
This might be because your firewall is blocking port 8888. Try turning off your firewall temporarily and see if http://192.168.2.4:8888/yogaFest2013/ works from the native browser on your device
Open a terminal window and type in the following: netstat -an | grep "LISTEN" and let me know what it says
Open your httpd.conf file and look for a section like this:
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to

I feel like I cant trust iCloud mail, anyone else got the same feeling?
This is getting very frustrating, I feel like my trust in iCloud mail are almost none. I switched my primary personal account to iCloud, thougt that it would be a nice step since I have many Apple devices. But the reliability is a real problem for me. Right now I´m waiting on two important e-mails that I know already have been sent but I cant access them...
Perhaps I need to go back to my old e-mail provider...It is my opinion that you are completely correct. Apple is not providing correct information in this case.
The outage effected people in different parts of the world and USA. It is illogical that it only effected 1.1 percent. Mailer Servers are usually clustered by IP address. Google has different IP addresses in different parts of USA and users are assigned to those IP address. Take my word for it more than 1.1 percent of people are assigned to an IP address. My guess it was a bad software load or a major hack that propagated through their entire system.
It is the only thing that explains a two day outage. They need time to get rid of what was propagating. This is also explained by the fact that they originally said it was only .17 percent effected then raised it to 1.1 percent as it propagated through the system.
Hey, outages happen and that is not the problem.. It is that Apple, in my opinion, has stonewalled the truth and acted arrogantly. Not a good things to do. -
I just downloaded iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now can no longer open internet links that were texted to me. Anyone else having the same problem or know how to fix this?
The SMS links thing is highly annoying. You don't have to copy/paste however. You should see an icon like this: (>) to the right of the text bubble with the link. Tap on that, the in the screen that opens, tap "Visit".
Alternatively, you can tap twice directly on the link, then hold your finger down after the second tap.
Still unnecessarily difficult, but not as bad as copy/paste.
What I don't get is why can't I find any mention of this change or how to fix it (if even possible) elsewhere online? -

Same here...plopped down >$2700 USD on a new Retina MBP a few weeks ago with the promise of a free upgrade to ML when it was released. Now, I have no doubts that I'll get the upgrade but I'm not crazy about having to wait behind scads of others who are shelling out a mere $20 bucks.
I was given the same 72 hour speech by Apple Customer Support. With my Up-To-Date claim reference number in hand, it seems like they would/could provide an instant turn-around to those of us who are excited/eager enough to call in.
Apple does a lot of things right but people...especially the clientele that gravitate toward Apple products...expect excellence across the board. It's like a "nearly" perfect date....beautiful night...best table in the restaurant...delicious dinner with a fabulous bottle of wine...your date is smokin' hot in a little black dress. On the way back to her place, she unbuckles her seatbelt and leans across with a hand towards your leg and then lets a gigantic, tear-demanding **** that makes you want to gag. The next day somebody asks, "How was your date?" -
My new iPad camera just freezes up and does not store any photos. Also my photo folder did not populate from my backup. Is anyone else having the same issue. If so what can I do to get the camera to take and store the picture. I am running the lastest operating system version.

after the newest update ( iso 7) , i can no longer type in traditional chinese ( pin yin), does anyone else have the same problem?
I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?

Since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 I'm having compatibility issues with my speakers / docking station and my iTunes wifi sync isn't working. Anyone else having the same problems? Both worked fine until the update...
Okay. I got it working again by setting it up as a new phone instead of just syncing. Then I backed up. All is good today.

I upgraded to version 4 last week and find it extremely slow compared to the previous version - like so slow that some pages do not even load. I have downloaded and gone back to version 3.6.17 and everything is back to the normal I have known for years with Firefox and it is really fast again...so now I know that there is nothing wrong with my computer and that the supposedly very very fast version 4 is much much slower than the previous version 3.6...so what gives? I'm not keen on going back to the new improved version 4, though I know it will not be supported soon...anyone else having the same issue?

Since I downloaded IOS8, my iphone will not sync with itunes on my MacBook, which means I'm also having difficulty doing a simple manual backup of my ios device to my MacBook. The fact that my MacBook has a 32 bit processor and runs on OS X Version 10.6.8 (as good as it gets), is, apparently, the root of the problem since I've never had this problem with previous ios versions. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem and what is Apple doing about it?
I have the same issue, except I am running an i5 iMac (64-bit) with 10.10.1 installed. I can't tell if it is an iOS issue or an iTunes 12 issue. It started happening to me when I got the iPhone 6 AND upgraded to iTunes 12. It wouldn't connect my iPhone nor my iPad 2 (running older iOS). I had to install a fresh version of iTunes and it "sort of" helped. It will see the devices now, but then it forgets and I have to reboot occasionally for them to be seen again.
This is a big problem and seems to be pretty wide spread. -
HAs anyone else had the same problem, after doing an update nothing will come up for tribez just a blank screen. My late nights are not the same now!!!
Your Performance preferences screen capture reveals you have a single hard drive with little available space to accommodate both the Photoshop scratch file and the swap files of the OS.
It's obvious that Bridge finds itself at times with insufficient space to build its cache.
However, it's unclear why that should affect only DNG files and not other type of image files. Puzzling, unless the DNG files are the only large image files you have.
Parts of the following may illustrate what happens when the scratch file is on your boot drive:
The rule of thumb I follow to figure out scratch space says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open. I have seen the scratch file exceed 800 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS. I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.
