Is Safari 4 the culprit? Or is it Flash?
Download MiniUsage and smc Fan Control to monitor the CPU usage/Temperature/Fan RPM differences.
Play a youtube video on safari, and from the Safari menu bar, drop down any menu from the bar (File/Edit/View/History/Bookmarks/Window/Help) and leave it dropped.
Watch the CPU usage go from 50%-60% down to half, 25%!
The heat and fan revs go down, too.
Quiet and cool... a bliss..
No more persistent sudden/random thermal shutdowns.
So, is it Flash or Safari?
For those that tried this method out.
Post what you experience and think.

OK, MacBook Pro (Late 2009 unibody 13" - 2.26 Core Duo, 4Gb RAM) OS 10.6.3, and I use iStatPro with iStatMenus to monitor my system.

Here's the CPU usage: A scant 18% and this is with Safari, Firefox, Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop all running.

Mind you, this is Tucson, AZ and it's already 87º out. I'm not running the A/C and in my computer room, it's quite warm so 154º is just about normal with two browsers, Flash CS5, DW CS5, and PS CS5 all running. I have two additional fanes running in a ducted setup to draw air from the MacBook and a PC at this workstation.
Opening Safari, and playing a YouTube video added all of two degrees to the CPU temp. Clicking on the menubar and holding it did nothing.
Yes, I'd love my MacBook to run around 90º all the time, but compared to my old G5 iMac which ran 210º-245º all the time, I'll take 154º

Just noticed a crack - anyone else got the same?

Just took my MacBook out of it's protective bag and noticed a crack on the base almost directly under the power button. There's a small bump pushing out of the machine almost as if the pressure of turning the machine on is excerting pressure on something inside that is then pushing on the bottom casing and cracking it. The crack moves outward from a central point in a radius of about 1.5cms. It looks really ugly and I'm worried it's going to increase in size. It's the first time I've noticed it. There is also a hairline crack running along the spine of the hinge on the bottom case. I have never dropped my MacBook and am always ultra careful with it.
Has any one else had a similar problem?

Just called Applecare and they've given me a reference number to book it into my nearest service centre.
Yes I did read the other thread here but this seems to me to be a different problem as the crack is in a different place and as I said seems to be caused by something on the inside of the machine exerting pressure on the case when I turn it on. There's a raised bump directly under the power button on the bottom case. That's why I asked if anyone else had experienced this particular problem and I didn't post into the other thread.

It's listed in the store as 170. What shows on your email receipt and/or on your purchase history : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it, if you click on that link your purchases should be listed with the most recent above the list.
And did you add or change the credit card details on your iTunes account when making the purchase ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

Why are all my entries on Icloud 2 hours earlier than they were previously entered. I just noticed this today April 23? They do not match what is on my Ipad or on my imac. Looks like the clocks are not syncronised someplace.

Your post is fascinating because your post header says "today April 24" while your post body says "today April 23" So maybe that is related...
Anyway, make sure all your iCloud devices have Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically = "On".
Also, in iCloud.com, open Calendar, go to Preferences (upper right) > Advanced > and check "Enable Time Zone Support".

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.
