Just orderded a KT4V-L - system fan question

Building first PC.  Dowloaded the KT4V-L manual and I can only see two fan sockets - one for heatsink fan and one for a system fan.  I would like to add two system fans (one at the front of the case and one at the back) - is this possible?

Thanks.  Is it just me or this forum really slow when changing page, sometimes even timing out?

    hello guys,
i am having some strange experience well i just happened to clean my CPU well just external clean with cloth well then when i started i heard sound of some sort it turned out to be a plastic piece with the fan anyway i just did not do anything else well recently my CPU is very running cool i mean does System temeperature goes high will my CPU fan go high too i mean i dont' get a reading for my System fan speed in corecenter why ? can i do something about it please tell me. ? should i check the inside of my CPU well i am no expert but i am still ameteure well what do you say

I don't think CoreCenter uses the system temperature to control fan speed.
Is your cpu fan still working? When you say a plastic piece is broken, do you mean a fan blade? If so you should replace the fan.

  • Questions About MSI Z87-GD65 System fan Currents!

    Hi,
I have a few questions on the MSI Z87-GD65 System Fan currents. I want to hook up 2-4 120mm case fans together through a PWM Female to 4 x PWM Male Computer Case Fan Splitter and connect it to one of the SYSfans on the Motherboard, but I am unsure about the current limit on the SYSfan1-3 on the motherboard. Also I was unsure if I needed to have a 4-pin connector or 3-pin connector. On the online manual it says that for Sysfans1-3
    Pin #1 is Ground
    Pin #2 Is Speed Control
    Pin #3 is Sense
    And Pin #4 is NC
What does NC mean? Do I need a 3 pin or 4 pin connector?
    Thank You For any assistance!

    NC isn't used.
The sys fans you only need to get a 3 wire fan for the cpu fans a 4 wire fan would be indicated.
The amp rating is 1amp I believe.
If you want to really control and monitor your fans, it is best to use an outside fan controller. I use the Corsair Link in one of my computers which I like, but is overkill.

  • DV6-6060sa Do I have discrete graphics memory or UMA graphics memory? + Where is 'System Fan 'B''

    Hi There,
I am going to attempt replacing a fan on my Pavilion DV6-6060sa Laptop, I have been looking around on the net and have just now read through the service manual to better understand which component needs replacing.
I am going to be changing system fan 'B', as the error message states at start-up. (I have tried compressed air spray through the air vents but this has not worked.)
In order for me to purchase the correct part number I need to know whether I have Discrete memory or UMA memory.
As stated above I have a Pavilion DV6-6060sa unit, the below snippet is from the service manual.
    (12) Fan/heat sink assembly (includes replacement thermal material):
For use only with computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650
    graphics subsystems
    518435-001
For use only with computer models equipped with graphics subsystems with discrete
    graphics memory
    512837-001
For use only with computer models equipped with graphics subsystems with UMA
    graphics memory
    512830-001
Could you let me know which part number I require, and also send me a link for an original HP replacement part please?
The fan I will be replacing is the fan closes to the power button, looking down at the laptop from a birds eye view it is located on the upper left corner. The two vents (one on the left and one on the top) usud to have air forced out from the fan, which is now not working. I take it this is system fan 'B' and is the heat sink?
Please can you confirm the above information?
Specifically Including a description of which fan system fan 'B' is? (thank you)
    I appreciate your help, Simon.

    Hi,
90B is the error code, not the location of the fan.

  • DV6Z System Fan

Need to replace the system fan in my HPDV6Z-6C00 laptop.  According to the maintenance manual, there are several available for this particular model depending upon the CPU and video.  Can anyone help me determine which is the one I need, or the specific information I need to determine the proper fan?  Here is the info on the laptop:
    Product:  AIM22AV
    Model:  DV6Z-6C00
    Serial: [edited by Moderator]
    Processor:  Intel Core i5
Plan to order the fan and install it myself but want to make sure I order the right fan.  If more info is needed just post it and I will add it later this evening or over the weekend.
    Thanks

  • System fan error on g62-352ca on startup. are there two fans ie a cpu fan and a system fan?

I get a system fan error on power up?     Are there two fans in the G52-352CA?   Ie a general system fan and a CPU cooling fan or just the one CPU/heatsink fan?
If it is the CPU/heatsink fan then there are 4 part numbers for different options.   Is there some way to tell from the model number or features as to which is needed.    I would prefer to have the part in hand before opening everything up.    Are there better fans to buy and if so how do I find them?       This unit was always running a little on the warm/hot side,

Hi, I just got the K8N Master2-FAR and equipped it with two dual core opterons 265 and 4gb of dual channel ram.
My biggest problem right now is that all the system fans are running at full speed, though the hardware monitor in the BIOS show 0 rpms for them?
At the same time my cpu fans are blowing at about 3600 rpms even though their temperature is only about 36 degrees C...

  • System Fan (90B) Error / HP Pavilion dv7-4060us

Hi. I have a Pavilion dv7-4060us notebook, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I had an overheating problem not too long ago that caused my notebook to shut down on it's own. I bought a cooling pad to help with the overheating, which helped. But now, everytime I start up, it gives me a black screen reading "Operating System has found that a cooling fan has stopped working" or something similar. The error code was "System Fan (90B)." How do I get rid of this error message? Post back here or reach my email at [email protected] Thanks.

This PreBoot Diagnostics that is indicating there is an issue with system fan. It would be a case of System Fan not running or running at slower speed than it should...
I would suggest, try doing power drain, by disconecting AC adapter, removing battery and pressing the power button for few secs... if that always you to boot to the OS, that Update the BIOS if not than I would suggest contacting HP Tech Support for getting your unit serviced...

  • 2 System fans on the MSI Intel 845PE?

    Hello,
I've just built a computer with the 845PE Max2-FISR, and want to install two system fans in the case (in addition to the CPU fan and the fan that comes with the mainboard).  If I read the manual correctly, there's only one pin connector for the system fan.
Does anyone have experience with installing 2 system fans with this board?  Can I splice the two together, and will the mainboard be able to provide enough power for both through the one connection, or should I be considering another solution?
warning, I'm a newbie at this, so I may have some of the terminology wrong.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi
I have installed 2 fans in series and connected them direct to the power supply by making up a lead with 2 sockets and one plug.  This is a very quiet solution.
It is possible to connect the hall effect sensor to the motherboard to read the fan speed but you must use the correct fan. Dont live in hopes about reading the fan speed on this motherboard which has problems which are well documented in this forum.
I have tried PC alert and speed fan 4 but can only read the cpu fan and system fan speed in the Bios.  (WHEN are MSI going to get round to fixing this.
An alternative would be to use a passive heat sink on the northbridge (Zalman) to make a fan socket spare. (Has any one tried this)

  • KT3 Ultra2 Power Supply Fan Question

What is the connector PSFAN1 used for? I thought the Power Supply Fan comes on when you turn on the computer. Seems strange that you would have to route the power through the motherboard....I am sorry for the newbie question. I do have a newer Enermax case that seems to have the correct connector coming from the wiring harness out of the power supply. Do I plug that wire onto the PSFAN1 connector?
    Dan

Yeah, you will be fine if your plug it in. I have an enermax as well and it is plugged into my mobo and all is well. There is usually a fan in the bottom of the power supply (facing the cpu) and another on the back. The one in the bottom sucks air away from the cpu and the one in the back sucks the air out. You may want to look and see if there is a fan control on the back of the power supply as some let you control the speed of the out blowing fan. Oh, by the way, I just saw that they have three fan power supplies now!

  • Fan Question #3

Hey sorry for posting lots of fan problem, i'm here for another fan question.
right now i'm only running chrome, writing this current discussion, and the fan speed is currently 1700 rpm and the temp is 48 degrees, and i heard a bit loud motor sound from the fan, from my last post it was supposed to be a bit loud when it is used for gaming like to play TF2, is this normal or are my fans are dirty?
Sorry for my lots of fan questions, but i really need to know about my mac more.
I'm a bit paranoid about my macbook because i also use it for my school needs and it would be a pretty difficult situation for my studies if it has problems
    Thanks
    MacUser2703

13" or 15" or 17"? The little'un has one and the big'uns have two fans. I'm surprised you are seeing just 1700RPM, the default idle speed on mine is 2000. If left to its own devices, the Mac will do a fairly good job of controlling its internal temperature by revving its fan(s), but some people get nervous and try to "improve" things by adding non-Apple speed controls, that's when things start getting out of control. Like mende1 states, if things seem to be off, an SMC reset will set them straight.

  • System Fan 90B Error Message

Hello,      I've had my Envy dv7-7320us for about 2-3 years and Just last week my notebook shut itself off in the middle of me working on it. When I turned it back on, there was a black screen that read ...... The System Fan <90B> message that everyone here seems to be getting. I sent it over to a computer shop and they cleaned the fan (it was filthy), and I also gave to ok to replace the fan. So they did that as well. Here we are into the 7th day since the error page occured and the shop tells me that the message STILL appears , even after cleaning and replacing the fan. I dont want them to do anything more , because it sounds like things might get costly and if it's something that I can do myself, I would prefer to just do so. Does anyone know why the message could still be appearing , or what other methods I can take to resolve this problem? I just dont want them to do anything drastic or costly for no reason. PLEASE HELP!!

Some bios's have a error message section that needs to be cleared before the message will stop. If not try clearing the cmos by removing the cmos battery for 15 minutes.

  • Kt4-ultra system fans

ok guys  - was wondering if you could help me out here!
i am on a crusade to make my puter as quiet as a really quiet thing on national quiet day!
already got a nice solid case (lian li 60)
i have removed the via fan and replaced the whining little thing with a zalman northbridge heatsink (no need for fan)
proc fan is fairly quiet (it will do till i get a zalman flower or something similar)
2 front fans are sweet - hardly hear them at all!
ram just has copper heat sinks (again no fan)
insinde of puter - apart from the windowed bit has been sound proofed using akasa foam!
power supply fan is suprisingly quiet (it will do till i can afford a top of the range quiet one anyway)
    but now to my problem!!!!
the rear system fan is literally blowing me away - lol
it is supposed to be a low noise all singing all dancing fan but it hasn't made any difference to the case original!
the reason i am posting here is because this new fan has the sensor line and connects to the mobo sfan 1 socket - which i assumed would alter the fan speed according to the temp of the system!
but the fan seems to be running at top whack all the time (now my system is running very cool, almost cold in fact  - when i feel the air being pumped out of the fan it is still about room temp!
is there any sort of set up or progam i need to do/install before the system will start controlling the fan??
or do you have any other advice?

ok i downloaded and installed the latest pcalert 4
this has had no effect in altering fan speed - infact all i can get it to do is beep at me when i set my min temp to 50c - lol
help please someone - there must be a way of setting optimal temp values and the fans adjusting as needed!!
or am i expecting the mobo to do too much?
btw cpu temp is 38c (fan running at 2500)
system at 35c (fan running at 2766)

  • System fans full blast

Hi there. I have a Power Mac G5, dual 2.7's, and I turn it on this morning and the system fans immediately kick on full blast, before the OS even loads. They won't slow down or kick off unitil I turn the computer off. I tried resetting the PRAM and SMU, ran the Apple Hardware Test, and it said everything was ok. This thing sounds like a vaccum cleaner, please help!

Yeah, count me in - dual 2.7.
New processor and still sleep problems, especially if left alone for long periods of time.
Here's what I have done so far (still in process):
    1. Erase and install of OS X via disks included with computer for HDD installed in the lower “B” slot. The HDD installed in the “A” slot at this time had all of my software and 10.4.6 with all software updates installed. Install crashed at the end of second DVD and computer had to be shut down via the power button.
    2. Removed primary HDD from the upper “A” slot and replaced it with the newly formatted (erase and install) drive that previously occupied the lower “B” slot.
    3. Started computer, entered basic information and allowed wireless keyboard and mouse to pair. Did not set up AirPort at this time.
    4. Attempted sleep with DVI connected only. Left machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    5. Plugged in USB 2.0 cable from Apple Cinema Display into main I/O in the back of the computer. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    6. Plugged in FireWire cable from Apple Cinema Display into main I/O in the back of the computer. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    7. Plugged in iSight cable and Mighty Mouse into Apple Cinema Display. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    8. Plugged in FireWire 800 cable from external HDD (powered on) into main I/O in the back of the computer. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    9. Plugged in USB 2.0 cable from iPod nano into main I/O in the back of the computer. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    10. Plugged in FireWire cable attached to iPod photo and FireWire cable from CompactFlash card reader into FireWire PCI card. Let machine sleep automatically for one hour, and then restarted successfully.
    11. Computer not making POST “gong” on restart. Reset PRAM successfully.
    12. Shut down computer and reset SMU. Removed all RAM except innermost two slots.
    13. Restarted computer and allowed it to sleep automatically for 45 minutes. Woke from sleep successfully.
    14. Shut down and remove first pair of DIMMS and replace with next pair. Let computer sleep automatically and wake after 45 minutes.
And 4 more GB's of RAM to go....
This unit just had a new processor installed.
Since then, I have been on the phone with AppleCare for hours. Every tech blames everything except the computer. Good luck, all.
