Just ordered iPhone 4GB should I upgrade to an 8GB ?
A few days ago right after Apple announced the price reduction on the iPhones I ordered an iPhone 4GB from the Apple.com website as I look further I noticed there are some refurbished 8GB iPhones available for $349 has anyone had any experience with the refurbished iPhones from Apple? Are they just as good as new ones? Is there really a huge difference in the 4GB to 8GB i doubt i'll be adding alot of videos to the iPhone. Would it be wise just to keep the 4GB even though its been discontinued?
Much depends on what you're going to be using your iPhone for (i.e. iPod, prolonged internet surfing etc.) as not everyone utilizes every facet of the phone. You mentioned that you probably wouldn't be downloading a lot of videos but it's nice to know you have that option with memory to spare. Even at full price, it was worth it for me to pay the extra $100 and double the capacity. I've not heard much feedback on the iPhone refurbs but Cingular/AT&T have always provided good quality with other refurbished phones in the past.

Just follow these simple steps:
1) Connect your current iPhone 4 to iTunes for a complete sync and backup.
2) Move the SIM card from the old phone to the new iPhone 4s.
3) Connect the new 4s to iTunes, and select "Restore from backup".
That should duplicate everything that was on the old phone to the new one- apps, music, settings, the whole shebang.

Pre ordering iphone with other lines upgrade
How would I go about pre ordering the iPhone 4s using another lines upgrade on my plan? Would I be forced to activate in store when the phone arrives?
Basically what I mean, is if I pre-order at Apple.com (there is a form you fill out which takes you to a pricing page depending on if you have an upgrade or not) how would I go about activating the phone on MY NUMBER while using another numbers upgrade? This will be the first time I have pre-ordered a phone (or had one delievered for that matter) so I have no idea how to activate it..CrossEyed wrote:

You just purchase the phone on the line that is eligible for an upgrade (thus, using their upgrade and extending THEIR line's contract another 2 years) and when you receive your phone, you will activate it on THEIR line first (this is a very important step) then, you can reactivate their phone on their line, and activate the new iPhone 4S on your line. And you'll be good to go.
Just keep in mind that it will extend the other line's contract, not yours, and you have to activate it on that line first.
This isn't what I was told. I was told to just place the order using the eligible line (my wife's) and when the phone arrives to just activate it using my phone number.
If you do this, you will be charged the full price of the phone. Activating it on the line it was purchased on first accepts the terms of service you sign when you upgrade. If you don't do so, you are charged the full retail price of the phone, because you technically did not accept what you signed -

I see it takes 3-4 weeks to get to me but I'm asking others...does it really take that long? when did you get yours and how long did it take? I ordered from the apple online store of course. Also, why the delay? quality check?
I haven't tried it before, but Blueme is the most searched. For me, is useless to share information by bluetooth, it is a mess to share...
I am sharing protos by chat apps. Music and ringtones I just download them from internet and sync with iTunes. If some friend want a music of mine, I just tell him the title and/or band and he download by himself...

I don't have it anymore unfortunately after it was damaged in storage, so I'm concerned. It's an iMac I bought in mid 2007.

Yes you can. However, it is better to use one person's account most of the time for purchases in the Mac App Store and iTunes since you can share purchases, such as songs, among various devices using the SAME account. You Cannot share purchases among different accounts, though. So make one of your accounts the main "purchasing" account so you can share purchases.

i called a best buy here in LA... i believe it was tuesday or wednesday. Unfortunately i had to work until about 7pm so it wasnt' till then that i called. They said they HAD gotten about 10 or so in, but were now sold out.. bummer.
I just called 3 walmarts (they open at 8am, it's 830am) and none had gotten any in. I'll be calling all the best buys at 10am when they open. But i heard reports from some best buys last week that they receive theres on tuesdays. (and i also read reports of tuesday, wed, thur, sat)

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. And if you know of another way that I can access all of my itunes library music on my new phone withouth using itunes, I would love to hear about it.--thanks and again i am so sorry for frustrating you.

I just got iphone 5c and i am not happy with it. It uses to much data and i don't even know how. I can't get the ringtones i want for my contacts.I got it on my free upgrade but i want to take it back and get something else but where i got it they say i can't because i don't have the earbuds and i have serches or them. now i am suck with a phone i don't like at all until my next upgrade. this is very dishearten
1. If you are this unhappy with that phone, and the lost earbuds is the only thing stopping you from taking it back, why do not just buy some earbuds. That way you can get rid of that phone. It all depend upon how much you want to get rid of that phone.
2. Yet if you are stuck with that iPhone, here is something might help you to control the data usage. By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress and so forth when the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data, if this setting is left on. Therefore, from multi-sources I have learned that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, then it will stay connected to the available WiFi. -
I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.
There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

I just got an iPhone 4 as an upgrade from the original iPhone 3. I came home and tried to sync it with my iTunes and it says I need to upgrade my iTunes to work with the 4. The current version of iTunes isn't compatible with my G5 mac????? Help

Just got iPhone 5, get home and find iCloud Outlook Add-in does not install under Windows XP. I am loathe to upgrade to Windows Vista/7/8 just yet. Can I obtain and use an earlier version of iCloud Outlook Add-in? My iPad II synchronizes!
There is no 'earlier' version that supports XP. iCloud launched with Vista/7 support only.

Should I upgrade my G4 hardrive, or just get an imac?
This may seem like a silly question- but.. I'm not sure if its time to replace my trusty G4 yet, and I would appreciate any insight anyone might have. I use my computer mainly for photoshop, and the funny thing is that I honestly don't find my ( less than a year old ) macbook much faster with most applications. ( Not just photoshop- I know CS2 runs slower with intels ) The trouble is, the sad little 40 GB hard drive is very nearly full, it is now really affecting it's operation. I'd rather not spend the money now, but I could if it was the wiser thing to do. What is anyone's opinion, do I spend just over a hundred bucks to upgrade my quicksilver G4's harddrive, or do I bite the bullet for the imac. Seems like an obvious answer but I just haven't been unhappy with my six year old mac. If I do replace the drive, is there a certain one that I should choose, ie. Seagate? ManyThanks.
Go with a 7200 rpm, high performance, Seagate HDD. WDs are notorious for problems. Maxtor used to be the best Mac option, but when Seagate bought them out, they were turned into the low end cost/performance/quality HDDs in the Seagate stable. BTW, most CompUSA HDDs are just generic Maxtor HDDs.
Use your new HDD as your your primary drive. If your QS is one of the newer ones, the HDDs are jumpered for Cable Select. Check the back of your existing HDD. If it is jumpered for CS, do the same with the new HDD. If it is jumpered as Master, then change it to Slave and jumper the new HDD to Master. Install the new HDD so the it is connected to the end of the ATA/IDE cable with the old HDD connected to the inner IDE connector.
When you have both drives hooked up, you can use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy your old HDD exactly onto your new HDD. After the copy over and all is working well on your new HDD, re-initialize the old HDD and henceforth use it as a PS scratch disk and/or a back up drive.
This all involves a little effort and maybe $100. This is far less an investment than the least cost for a new iMac. Now if you were looking at a full upgrade program for your G4, I'd say go with the iMac. But, if the only current issue is HDD size, just replace the HDD.
