  • Radeon X800 pro wont work with my Motherboard

My 915g combo motherboard wont even start with radeon x800 pro, but it runs with an geforce fx5750. i have 350w powersuply and i have tried with an 400w. i know it is not the grafikcard that is wrong becuse i have tried with 2 difrent x800pro cards and non worked on the motherboard. i have even tried to update bios and it hade no effect.

X600/X700/X800/X850 as well as NX6600/NX6800 are heavy +12v power consumers on the PSU, if you have less than 18A on your PSU's +12v, forget about running them smoothly...

  • MSI KT4V and Radeon X800 Pro...

    Hi all!
I have a question regarding my MSI KT4V MoBo. Does anybody have any experience installing a Radeon X800 card in such a MoBo?
I have read earlier that there was a size problem with the 9800 pro series.
Apparently it is so big that it touches the ram slots!?
The X800 is smaller though so it may not be a problem.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Best Regards
    Basse

I don't see how it would touch the RAM slots, it might just be a problem when you need to remove RAM that you need to remove the card first so you can pull back the RAM clips.

It's supposed to be a fine card otherwise, and ATI have been diligent in releasing new drivers on a monthly basis.

  • K8n Neo Fsr And Radeon X800 Pro

I'm considering upgrading from my 9800 pro video card to a new x800 pro.  But the placement of the northbridge chip on the FSR board is really tight even with the 9800.  I've got an MSI stock fan on my northbridge heatsink which increases the height by about 1/4 inch.  Does anyone have an x800 pro installed with their K8N motherboard AND a northbridge cooler?  Does it all fit without any special modifications?

Stock North Bridge Fan but Bigger better heatsink for both CPU and Vid card here's a pic of how tight it is, Now if I can get all this in then you will have no problems with yours

  • Radeon X800 Pro

Ok I pulled out my older card , stuck in the new one. had a little problem with the ear for the main cable screw hitting the back of the slot not allowing the card to seat in the slot.. Ok after starting the front first I was able to seat the card. hooked up the Molex connector and fired up the Puter.. No problems at all. NICE card.. just to much money...

I had the same problem with my 2nd pc...Gigabyte GA-7VRX & a Nvidia 4600TI... thought it was just the case...but when I put in myATI 9700 pro....np's... (mabey its the maker of the Vid card)....as mine was VisionTek.....and my friend had bought a Gainward 4400 TI and had np's with the install?

  • Just ordered 2015 Macbook Pro

So I just ordered the new 13inch Macbook pro retina early 2015 model.
    I chose the following specs;
2.7ghz i5 Processor - Will this be suitable for my needs and what about longevity/futureproof? It was another £68 with education pricing to go to the 2.9Ghz.....
16gb RAM - Maxed out! - Or is this overkill... I heard this on a PC review site
128gb storage - Now when I ordered I was going to just stick to an external HDD just incase I ever needed the extra storage as my current laptop stands at 70gb on it... from reading some forums they suggest that the 128gb is slower than the 256gb model?
I play the Sims occasionally and will purchase sims 4, and I will be using the laptop for web browsing, Skype, spotify and university work - spreadsheets and word docs. - Oh and downloading HD movies/TV series.
Will this laptop be enough for my needs, I cant see long term that I would need to change the way I use the laptop in terms of the software that I will be using.
I bought the Macbook on a total impulse purchase and now I'm trying to make sure I made the right decision.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lauren

Will this laptop be enough for my needs
Personally, I would've purchased the MacBook Pro with the built-in optical SuperDrive. I love the ability to watch movies on airline flights. On the way out the door I just grab a few DVDs off the shelf.
Otherwise, you can buy an external optical drive. Sometimes I see these duct-taped to the bottom of MacBooks that don't have a built in optical drive.

  • Request of x800 pro/XT owners.

Could somebody whose computer uses both the K8T FIS2R and the X800 pro/XT please run a game/demo/ati tool and utilize anti aliasing? I plan to return my unit, but I'd also like a confirmation that someone with a similar setup can get it to work.

Rodao, you still did not RMA your VisionTek X800 Pro with the AA problems? I tried 2x-4x Anti Aliasing on UT2K4, FarCry (in game video settings), Need For Speed Underground, Halo, and it works without problems (just lower FPS of course). I have not tired demos/ATI Tools since AA works for games already. I do have one question for other X800 Pro owners. How do I check my video card's GPU clock speed? I am using the 4.6 Catalyst drivers and when I look under the Display>Advance Settings>OverDrive tab, its shows my temp and clock speed at 472MHz. I thought the stock clock speed for the X800 Pro is at 475MHz, is the OverDrive reading inaccurate or is this normal? Remember I have the stock ATI Radeon X800 Pro.

  • X800 pro graphic card crashes with any 3d game

    Help !!!!!!!!!!!
I have a radeon x800 pro (256) card.  I have tried this card in 2 machines, both with MSI boards (neo range).
The card will work for days and days on the net or watching movies, but after about 3-5 minutes playing a 3d game (FEAR...) the screen just goes crazy !!!!!!!!!!
    Any ideas ???????????????????????????????
    Thanks

I think you are encountering artifacts with your graphics card which leads to a few possibilities:
    1) Overheating.
    2) Insufficient Power.
    3) Bad Installation of drivers.
    4) DirectX not updated.
I would need you to post your full system specs + PSU specs amps for more verification purposes.

  • ATI/Radeon 9800 Pro 128 AGP 4x/2x in Gigabit Ethernet dual 450 PMac G4

    Hi,
This is my first time posting to these discussion group... I've been going through related threads and have not found an answer to my problem...
I have a Gigabit Ethernet dual 450 G4. Awhile ago I upgraded the processor to a Sonnet 1.8ghz so I could run Leopard.
I just bough the ATI/Radeon 9800 Pro 128 AGP 4x/2x video card. I researched around and that seemed to be a card that would work in my machine. I even read a review on Amazon where someone had also upgraded to the 1.8 processor used this card with no issues.
I do have an older monitor - Apple Studio Display CRT with the ADC connector. So I also bought the Apple DVI to ADC adapter kit.
I installed the card and do not get any picture at all - I believe I have installed everything correctly. I'm pretty sure I can hear the fan on the video card in the machine. The monitor is getting power from the adapter since the button lights up when I press it - but it does not stay lit -- the monitor never turns on. Using my old graphics card the monitor makes a little "beep" when it turns on.
In reading the other topics I am wondering if it might be a power issue? According to Other World Computing's profile my machine has a max of 220 watts. Although they suggest this video card as one the will work in my machine.
I have disabled the hard drive that came with the machine (too small) and am using two Maxtor hard drives that I added - one ATA (120gb) and one SATA (500gb) that is connected to an SATA pci card. I also have two additional pci cards with usb 2.0/firewire ports.
In looking at the topics here I came across the link about taping the 3 and 11 pins on the video card. Even though the card I have is 4x/2x not 8x I thought I'd give it a shot. That did not work either.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I don't wish to sound redundant here, but I've been reviewing the vendor's page:
It's OK- I don't mind beating this dead horse....
The maker says such to protect themselves from possible claims that may arise due to over loaded systems and power problems when their card is installed in said system.
Of course, 300w would be nice, but they didn't even specify the PSU rating a couple years ago. The Sawtooth, with it's 237w PSU, used to be listed as a compatible machine for the 9800...... They just didn't consider how far a Sawtooth might be modded.
Within reason, the early G4's (Sawtooths) are capable of using the Radeon 9800 Pro. The GE has the same 338w PSU as the DA (they are interchangeable), so there is plenty of power for the 9800.
One thing to remember, the requirements of the ADC port of the AGP slot are removed by using a non ADC card. This really changes the calculations of the power available.
It's kinda' a long post, but, if you care to get ALL the details, check the following:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7065653&#7065653
I think you'll be satisfied with the explanation.......
Which leaves your second, and very appropriate, point.
The main enemy of all, though, isn't power. Heat is the biggest concern.
Reducing heat/increasing cooling by using a third party fan on the 9800 is highly recommended. The 9800 is a hot card, and the stock fan is prone to early failure.
Adding additional cooling to remove the extra heat produced by the 9800, by using an exausting PCI fan, will also help the PSU provide adequate voltage to the system, by reducing the amount of hot air moving out of the PSU.
Super heated air moving through the PSU reduces the cooling ability of the PSU. A hot PSU doesn't produce reliable power.
So, add the 9800, add some cooling, and enjoy!

  • Ati Radeon 9800 Pro won't start up mac!

I just got this Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB AGP from ebay and installed it promptly but my mac just won't start up!
I tried placing back my existing nvidia card and it booted up fine. Am i being ripped off with a PC version or something? I noticed there's a extra piece of chip to insert from my old nvdia card but not the new ati one.
But i checked on the net and found that the ati radeon 9800 mac cards also do not have that extra chip.
    Here's a URL of the card i bought. (http://i4.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/da/aa/1988_1.JPG)
Any idea or advice guys? Thanks in advance.

    Hi-
The image is just a stock image from ATI, of a 9800 Pro- which one is impossible to tell.
Since you are calling the card a 256mb version, the card is a PC card (unless it,s blue). It was advertised as a Mac card? If so, it has been flashed. BUT, if it is an 8x AGP card, it needs pins #3 and #11 taped to work in your 4x AGP QS. See this article.
Do you have the eBay link to the card that you bought (the listing)?

  • Radeon 9800 pro and memory problem

Hey i was wondering if someone could help me. I have a kt4av-l board. I just put in a radeon 9800 pro and When i play some games im getting crappy fps i updated the chipset drivers and the card drivers but still no help i have a 2400+ processor. also I bought a stick of ddr 2700 1 gig and for some reason i can't use the ram get alot of errors with it. i have two sticks of ddr 400 in there now 2 different brands and sizes and that runs fine but when i put that other stick in there by itself it doesn't work.

    Hello,
It could be a weak power supply, have a look on your power supply's sticker for the following
    eg
    400w
    +12v = 13a
    +5v = 40a
    +3.3v = 28a
The new stick may actually be faulty.
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.51/memtest86+-1.51.floppy.zip
Here is a program to test the memory.
Try increasing the voltage to 2.7v and set the frequency to match the CPU FSB. (133Mhz)
Is the CPU running at 2Ghz?
Sometimes when you buy a new video card the previous cards driver may conflict with the new one.
    Try a reinstall of windows.
Also did you plug a power connector into the 9800pro?
Are you using any ATi drivers?
Your board may need a bios update to fix a 9800 compatibility issue.

  • Quicksilver 733 and Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB

My dad just purchased a new iMac for himself and he's given his older Quicksilver 733 to my nephews. I'm trying to setup this Mac so the kids can use it to play games like Battlefield 1942, Command & Conquer, Star Wars Galatic Battleground, etc.
The Quicksilver has 1.12 GBs of RAM and a new 350 GB Seagate SATA hard drive with controller. I just installed a flashed Radeon 9800 Pro w/ 128MB of VRAM, but for some reason the computer still seems sluggish.
I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.3.9. I also noticed that in the ATI Utility shows the Radeon 9800 Pro's profile, but it doesn't indicate any refresh rates, which is odd. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Kelly

I also noticed that in the ATI Utility shows the Radeon 9800 Pro's profile, but it doesn't indicate any refresh rates, which is odd.
You will only have refresh rate options with VGA monitors.
DVI monitors all default to approx. 60Hz.

I've ordered a new mac book pro 15" and i need to clean hard drive off my old PC...not really to move them to the mac, but just to save in case needed; mostly pics and office docs....any suggestions?

Buy an external USB hard drive and copy your data to it.  Either that or burn them all to single or double layer DVDs (depending on amount of data you have).  Or if it's really a small amount, consider putting it all on a USB memory stick.

  • ATI Radeon X800 XT or ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Mac Edition for 30" display

I currently have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro installed in my G5 2.0 DP and it is running my 30" display, but I am having some isssues when I play DVD's the pictures seems to skip every few seconds like it isn't playing fast enough, or it hesitates. I bought the ATI Radeon X800 XT and wanted to know if that would be a better card before I switch it out.

The X800 is a faster card but DVD playback doesn't put much load on the card, so the X800 probably won't help. If it skipping on more than one DVD, the DVD drive is probably having problems. Cleaning the lens ay help.
