Just purchased a Mac Book Pro 15, can I install IWorks on it?
Am new to the Mac. I just purchased a new Mac Book Pro 15. I was wondering if I can install iWorks on the Mac Book Pro.
I believe that Kappy was referring to iPhone and iPad (mobile devices) by the iDevices reference. There is a different version of KeyNote, Numbers and Pages (the apps that make up iWork) available for the mobile devices. I have a 13" MacBook Pro and am running iWork '09 but I have visited the Mac App Store and upgraded my version of Pages to Pages 11. I just ordered a 15" MacBook Pro and can tell you that all of these programs will run on your Mac fine so long as you have the Mac versions and not the mobile device version - this is what Kappy was pointing out to you above. My assumption is that, since you refer to the suite of apps (iWork), you have the corect version for the MacBook. If you are referring to the mobile versions because say you bought one of the programs on your iPhone, that version would not be compatible with your MacBook, but, again, you can visit the Mac App Store right on your new MacBook and you can buy and download the relevant program you need right there - be it Pages, Numbers or KeyNote. I started with an iPod shuffle, then the Nano, then the Touch, then the iPhone 3Gs, then the 13" MacBook Pro, then the iPad (original), then the iMac, then upgraded the phone to iPhone 4S and now I'm graduating to the 15" MacBook Pro. Can you tell that consumption of Apples is very addicting?

I've just purchased a mac book pro. It has crashed and won't boot. The keyboard doesn't function and i have no install disc for the original os. What can i do?

This suggests that your HDD may be corrupt. In order to try and repair it, we must get into the recovery partition or use the original installation disks. Try and start your MBP using COMMAND R.

If that works, note the 4 option menu. Select Disk Utility>First Aid and verify and repair the disk.
If COMMAND R fails, try OPTION COMMAND R. If that works, try the same as above with Disk Utility.
If neither works, it suggests that your MBP came with Snow Leopard. You will need replacement disks which can be ordered from Apple customer service. Have the serial number of the MBP handy and there is a charge.

How do I put CS6 on my mac book pro. It was downloaded as an upgrade to my desk top.
You'll need your CS6 upgrade serial number plus the serial number of the earlier qualifying version from which you upgraded (CS5?).
Download the CS6 Mac installer from Download and Installation Help
Install then enter your CS6 upgrade serial number and your CS5 serial number when prompted. -
I have a Mac Book Pro A1226 - can i install Windows 7 on this via boot camp
I have a Mac Book Pro (A1226 -late 2007) and I want to run Windows 7 Ultimate on it via Boot camp. I am currently running Mac OS X 10.6.8 with Boot camp 3.0. For some reason I can't seem to install Windows 7 through Boot camp. Can I even install it on this computer? Would I be able to run Windows 7 on this computer if I purchased Parallels instead.

I just got a new Mac Book for college and I created my own apple id for it. My family already has a shared account and I was hoping to transfer the purchases from that account onto my new account. I tried the Homesharing feature, but we already have 5 devices that were authorized and we can't add another. What is the best way to make the transfer work?

I have tried to transfer data from my old Windows PC to my new MacBook Pro via Ethernet cable. The function starts to download and then aftera while it stops unexpectedly and both computers say they are "trying to reconnect"> This transfer has failed on three attempts so far. What am I doing wrong? Help please. I am simlply tyring to transfer my itunes library and photos to the new Mac.
Forget Migration Assistant. Just copy the files you want to transfer to an External drive and then move that drive to the Mac and copy them over to the Mac. Does matter what the external drive format is as OS X can read from NTFS, Windows, formatted drives.

I purchased a mac book pro in oct 2011, I restarted it after updating and it,s stuck on apple symbol, I hit command R while restarting and clicked on disk utility. It says disk can't be repaired, apple wants $249 to tell me what's wrong. Please help!

If this is a 13" Macbook Pro then that is the cost of the Extended Applecare warranty. As you are outside the 90 days of Free Phone Support then what Apple told you is that to get Phone Support you would either need to pay $45 per phone call or pay $249.00 for the Applecare extended warranty which comes with 3 years Free Phone Support from date of purchase.
Or you can take it to a Apple Genius Bar and have them look at it for Free.
Every Mac comes with 1 year warranty and includes only 90 days of phone support. You can buy the extended Applecare warranty anytime within the first year of ownership, IE until the 1 year warranty runs out.
I suggest you have your computer looked at by either an Apple Authorized Repair Center or Genius Bar and then before the 1 year warranty runs out buying the extended warranty -

I`ve just bought a Mac Book pro 15", did the required updates and since two days ago it freezes. Now I can´t even start the computer. the screen is allways white. how can I solve this issue??
The same thing happened to me... Since two days the ******* thing keeps freezing after a while. Then I try to reboot and the screen goes white and it doesn't boot. If I wait like half an hour it boots again.
I thought it was a hardware problem, but the Apple Hardware Test founds nothing at all. I think it has to do with the software update I performed 2 days ago.

Why won't iTunes store honor my gift card?
My balance shows up, but when I try to download an album, it doesn't subtract from the balance, it only prompts me for a CC. What's up with that? ITunes is expensive and hard to use. Think I'll stick with eMusic which is much better!
