Just purchased a new IPod but 2nd generation...
i have just ordered Ipod nano 8G (plus engraving) through apple website on 03/09/07. It is already paid for and i believe it will be here soon. But today i just saw this release of ipod nano and you probably could imagine how shock i was.. Could anyone tell me if i am eligable for swapping over for a new nano? Thanks

I just got a new iPod touch 4th generation and I'm trying to connect to my router and my iPod says, 'Cannont find network.' I don't know what to do! No other networks come up on the list so I can't 'tag' along with thier wifi. Please help. I need advice.
What type network is yu router set up for? The 4G iPod can only connect and see 2.4 GHZ networl like B, G and the 2,4 GHz N. There is also a 5 GHz N but the iPod will not even seethat network.

I've just purchased a new iPod and I;m told to uninstall and reinstall iTunes so the new nano can be recognized. What will happeen to the 27GB of music already in my Itunes library?
Nothing, but I would back up all that music to an external drive first.

I have lost my harddrive which contains a vast amount of music I've been collecting for many years. I just purchased a new Mac, but I've reached my activation limit. And I only have access to 2 of the 5 activated computers. My old music can still be played on my iPod, but I need to set up another account on my new Mac. What will happen to my music if I were to deactivate all of activated computers?
Authorization determines to which computers material requiring authorization can be transferrred using the itunes interface. If you want to re-download past purchases then a computer need to be authorized.
As for transferring music from the iPod, your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.

I just purchased a 120gb iPod classic 6th generation from a friend. I have the latest iTunes installed and the software on the iPod is also current. My problem is whenever I'm syncing the iPod and iTunes freezes between the 250- 300th song... I have to manually reset the iPod for the iTunes to run correctly, but then my music isn't added and iTunes tells me I have to restore the iPod... I've done this numerous times only to no avail... Someone please help!!!
Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -

I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

You need to buy Snow Leopard from the online Apple Store. You don't need Mountain Lion.

i just got a new ipod touch 64 gb 4th generation after my old one got cracked. my mum backed up all my stuff on my laptop pc but i tried to sync everything back on to my ipod but there are non of the music files there + the pictures wont download
itunes content is not part of the backup as it should all be in itunes on your computer.

I just got my new iPod a month ago and it worked fine a few days untill... poof... it no longer synced music. so i thought maybe i need to upgrade iTunes to the new version and so i did. if i tried with different machines with Leopard installed, it's recognized.

New Ipod nano (2nd generation)
Compaq Windows 2000 The family now has 4 different Ipods and I created new user for each in hopes this would simplify things. My problem is that when installing the 2nd generation nano it tells me that I need to install itunes version 7.0 or later. I do this, but it does not get installed, even though it goes directly to a page thanking me for installing it. Nothing loads into itunes when plugging in the nano. What is keeping me from loading the 7.0 version?
THANKSreformatting is easy it only takes a click and a few minutes, but you are correct in assming that you can not use the same ipod on your mac as on your pc. The two systems simply do not work together.
I think that you can use your ipod to transfer songs but it is far easier to simply use a flash drive. To do this copy and paste all of your music from your pc into a folder on your flash drive then copy and paste the entire folder onto your mac. When you open itunes on your mac go to file and select add folder to library. This will take a few minutes if you have a lot of songs but you will have everything.
