Just purchased a refurb

I purchased a refurb yesterday afternoon, came home, formatted and reinstalled and set everything to my likings.
After surfing on the web for an hour or so, I noticed I could get exactly my specs brand new for $2,300... I paid $2,300 for the refurb.
15", 2.0 ghz duo, 1x1 gb ram
Do you think I can call the store and maybe get some money back? was there a price drop YESTERDAY?
I originally went in there to check the new macbooks, so I never checked if apple.com had dropped the price of the macbook pro.. I didn't expect to come out with one, but the guy made me feel like I was getting a deal. x:

Yes. There was a price drop yesterday. The 2.0 512 ram MBP was 2499, now dropped to 1999 but changed to 1 g ram... and less hard drive.
It is the MBP I bought 17 days ago (with 512 ram) and more hard drive, when I went to exchange it..(long story) they dont make it anymore...
So, they gave me a 2.16, 1gram and more hard drive!
So far I'm happy. Even though it has the whine...... I have been using it for 10 mins. now...

Just purchased Vado 3rd Gen refurb through AmazonMI ordered the 3rd Gen Vado HD on Friday, with Saturday shipping - I connected it to my PC with no problems. I ran the Vado Central application & updated the firmware/software on the Vado HD. In "My Computer" the icon for the Vado HD was a Vado specific icon the first time it was connected, now the icon seems to be the one that Windows uses when it cannot identify the device type that is connected. I cannot launch Vado Central manually from the Vado HD any longer, the application does not run.
I also cannot turn on the Vado HD when it is removed from the PC - it will not power on. I have put in a trouble ticket with Vado support, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this. I have the battery installed with the writing facing me when I have the cover removed.

after exchanging a couple of emails with Creative's tech support - this camera was returned to Amazon for refund. I couldn't get a replacement because I'd purchased it from Amazon.com - instead I got a refund. Apparently the issue I had where it would not power on independent of being cabled to a PC was a situation that could not be fixed with a software upgrade, and it required an RMA.

HT1386 I have synced the items from itunes to an iphone 4 without problem, except the two albums I just purchased did not sync. They show up on the itunes on my desktop and on my ipod, but not on the new iphone. What do I need to do?

I have an itunes account and an ipod, and when I purchased 2 albums on the computer they synced straight to the ipod. I bought an iphone and used the usb cord from the computer to it to sync the itunes albums to the new phone. Everything transfered, and those were albums I had uploaded (not purchased from the itunes store), except the two albmus I just purchased from the itunes store. They appear on my itunes on the computer and ipod, but not on the iphone. What did I fail to do or did I do incorrectly?

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

THis is means they are not charging on a 30 pin cable and the touch won't work in my Apple iPod dock - no audio out or charge. Have re powered both devices to no avail am wondering if the iOS version is the problem

If it is a lightning to 30 pin adaptor, and you have a 7th Generation Nano it has to fit the Nano.

You need to contact Sony and see if they model you have is compatible with the docking adapter. It may not be.

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.

I just purchased an Asus laptop on 8/13 and am thinking about exchanging it for a laptop with a bigger screen, but hopefuilly the same specs (i.e. Core I7, etc.). I have the receipt and manuals that came with it but do not have the original box it came in. Will that be a problem? Please advise. Thanks.

The box isn't an issue. As long as it is in like new condition and you bring it back within the 30 days with the receipt, you are good to go. Remove your personal data before doing so.

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, can't join existing wireless network with AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC wifi turned off. How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. working fine with TM

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, I just found out that it can't join existing wireless network with new AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC's wifi turned off. How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM. My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore. Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed. I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc. I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads. Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system. I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system. But are there other options to connect the new TC. Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above. after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working. Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant. I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work. The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network. Are we going backwards?

Ok... it is getting a bit clearer but there are still some questions.
I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast.
I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??

I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC. the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.

You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options.

If you purchased directly on the iPad, it should have downloaded automatically.

Used iPod Touch just purchased - how do I delete her old songs/videos?

My son had an iPod nano [stolen] - and had an existing library of about 160 songs in iTunes. We just purchased a used Touch from a friend. When we plug it in, Itunes still has his "music library" but her name [Tiffany] comes up in DEVICES and when we click devices, it shows the bar meter as having her songs/videos in there still. How do we delete her data out, so we can load (only) my son's songs? Note that her LIBRARY (aka list of songs) doesn't show in iTunes, so we can't just click and delete them manually. He can, however, play her songs through the Touch...but he doesn't like the music and wants it gone.

It should (I think) be a simple matter of restoring and then synching in iTunes, this wil remove anything on the iPod that is not in your library. You can find "Restore" on the summary page when the Touch is attached.
If needs be, you can change the device name by clicking on said name in the right hand pannel.

Anyone still up? I just purchased from the itunes store for the first time, and don't know how to get them downloaded to my ipod.

Sigh.....really late and I want to go to sleep, but I just purchased some Itunes online for the first time, and I don't know how to download them to my ipod. I've never done it before, and it shouldn't be rocket science, but I can't find anything that tells me where to go to download my songs. It said something about check purchases, but I can't even find that screen. I connected my ipod to the computer, and now it says CONNECTED...EJECT BEFORE DISCONNECTING. My BF set up the acct when he bought my ipod as a gift, and as I bought these songs for a special weekend I have planned I can't ask him how to do it. HELP! For some reason the password I always use is not recognized for my account... and since I can't get anyone from itunes without a proper log-in I'm at the mercy of all of you more versed in tech and itunes than I. Is anyone still up that can help me out?

It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes)
