Just purchased Photoshop Elements and the serial number shows as invalid

Whenever I enter my serial number a message appears : "This serial number is not valid for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12"
How do I solve this? The live chat has not been working as well so I don't know who to contact about this issue.

Hi,
The original poster or yourself gave no indication of which operating system you are running on.
Around the time of the original post there was a problem with the Adobe server and a note was put out which may have answered the original posters problem.
You don't tell us anything about your problem - any error message?
By the way, this is a user to user forum where other users try to help - Adobe staff only occasionally look in.

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

Thanks, I tried it, but that did not work. Another Forum leader determined that I bought a WIN license and I have a MAC. Not sure how that happened. I have sent a message (hopefully given the absolute user unfriendly interface for any problems) to the Order folks. If they don't reply, i will cancel the credit card charge. That might get their attention. What a terrible company.

I have found that it's a fake. And to make matters worse, I was just 2 weeks outside the time for my credit card company to remove the charge. So now I feel victimized twice. There are 2 available on amazon, but could also be fakes. At least I will know right away this time. Thank you for trying to help.

Well, if you don't have a copy of your purchase receipt, then you can find the serial number in your support profile if you registered the machine. As for a copy of your invoice, call the Apple store and ask for a copy.

In the serial number window, on the title bar check if the product name is Photoshop elements 13
There are some PE serial number which is specific for windows OS, you may check that also.
You can contact Adobe support and verify your serial number once

If I were you I would first make sure CS6 was deactivated or signed-out. Then download Adobe's cleaner and remove cc, CS6 and any other creative application installed including Creative Cloud desktop application. Then install CS6 and use your CS6 serial number during the install to activate CS6 standard or extended which ever the serial number is for. CS6 Version 13.0 should the be activated. That level of CS6 is extremely bug ridden so be sure to the use CS6 menu Help>Updates to get CS6 updates. Windows should update to version 13.0.1.3 Mac to version 13.0.6. Not Subscription CS6 version 13.1.2...
