Just purchased the iphone, can't do the "simple" registration.....

I am so frustrated at this point. I already had itunes downloaded on my computer. I tried hooking the phone to the computer and it isn't listed as a "device". I followed all the help articles, which did absolutely nothing (to be honest, I wasn't even sure where they were going with half the things it told me to do). So, now I am trying to reinstall itunes hoping that will help. For now, I keep getting an error message that is a number (I think 3728?) and gives NO other info. At the end it just says it couldn't be completed. The ATT lady gave me a phone number for support, but I just get a recorded message saying that number isn't available from my calling area. I am about ready to throw this thing into the nearest wall. Any ideas?

64 bit Vista is not supported but I have heard instances where it has worked.
The official requirements are: Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, or Mac OS 10.4.1 or higher.. The latest version of iTunes, and an iTunes account (which will require a credit/debit card to set up).
If you have all the above then when you plug your iPhone in iTunes should detect it and take over the whole process should be about five minutes until your phone is activated.
If you are having problems still, I would think that maybe iTunes has become corrupted and would suggest a complete uninstall/reinstall. If you are still having problems all signs seem to point to your computer.. more specifically your OS being the culprit.
I hope the easiest solution ends up being the correct one.

    Just a thought, but maybe consider returning the device.  Seems it might be a bit too complicated for you.

    If you purchased it from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it's genuine.
    If not, it is very likely to be counterfeit and dangerous to use. Counterfeit power adapters often bear fraudulent consumer product safety markings. It is difficult or impossible to distinguish a genuine power adapter from a counterfeit from an exterior inspection, and inspecting its interior destroys the adapter.

    actually nevermind, it's working now. I closed iTunes, then waited a little, then double clicked one of my iTunes video files from my documents, which opened up iTunes again and the video started playing. I tried restarting iTunes before and that didn't work, so maybe for those who have similar problems, just try clicking on the video file in your documents/desktop of your computer, rather than directly from iTunes.

    Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
    and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.   
    Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

    Greetings this evening, I just purchased an iphone 5s and want to transfer some of my itunes from my mac running 10.6.7  to my new iphone 5s.I downloaded version 11.1 from the itunes website,restarted my computer but it wont recoginize the new 11.1 version which it tells me I need to sync songs from mac to 5S.Even though I downloaded version11.1 it still says I'm running version 10?     You have to update to 10.6.8 first.

    Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
    Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
    Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
    Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
    If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

    It requires the full Retail version to get Loeopard/10.5, ($129), now there is a $29 Snow Leopard /10.6 Disc, but...

    You have to call Apple & likely ask for a Product Specialist to get it, if they still have it! Helps to tell them you have an iPad/iPhone & you can't run 10.6.

    Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
    (If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
    Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
    If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    So when you edit in iCloud you are not seeing an update on your iphone?.  I just did a test in iCloud.com and it changed my iPhone contact list in less than 1 second.  So iCloud is functioning fine.
    If you delete all the contacts on your iPhone and if you are properly synced they will all be wiped out on iCloud.....ugh!  So let's not do that...
    Your plan should be to make all the changes in iCloud and have them flow down to your iPhone.  That sounds what you are trying to do anyway.
    So. if you delete a contact in iCloud or edit a contact in iCloud then you are not seeing the changes on your iPhone?
    If so then they are not properly synced..... but I wonder how you have any contacts in iCloud.
    Let me know if you are seeing any changes, if mot then we can review the syncing set-up.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
    HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
    I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p.
