The options for removing messages from the server after being downloaded with a POP account are as follows:
Right away.
After one day.
After one week.
After one month.
When moved from Inbox.
This is available with the account settings at Mail > Preferences > Accounts. Select the account. Under the Advanced tab for the account preferences at Remove copy from server after retrieving a message. This must be selected along with When moved from Inbox. When selecting a message for deletion, the message is moved to the account's Trash mailbox.

I have had good success with HGST and Seagate HDDs. I suggest a HDD that is powered by the MBA eliminating the need for an AC cord. They now come up to 1.5 TB in capacity. In my opinion, one cannot have too much storage. If necessary, let your bank account be your guide.

My daughter received an I phone for Christmas and we set it up using my iTunes account. She just received an iPad and wants to set up her own iTunes account. How do we do that without losing all of her content that she added to my iTunes account. I have home sharing on my account.

If she creates her own iTunes account she can't use any protected content purchased under another account. She can play unprotected content synced from an iTunes library on a computer, but she can only download content from the cloud that is purchased under her account.
It's a pain I know, but the longer you put off the move, the worse the situation will become. -

I have just joined itunes match and want to know what I do now. Do I delete all the music on my iphone and ipad and if so how? Once I've done that how do I find the music on the cloud on my phone/ipad?Go to Settings > General > Usage, select Music, then Edit. There will be a delete option there. It may take a few minutes to delete if you have a large collection on your iPhone.

I am considering the purchase of an iMac or Macbook and want to know whether I can import my iTunes library of +400 albums from my Windows PC over my Home Network? 300 of these albums have been imported from CD's, so would not want to have to do that again.
Just copy the entire /Musci/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
The libraries will be identical (date added, ratings, artwork, etc.).
You can do this easily over the network. -
I have just purchased a new Mac and want to sync my ipod - previous computer was PC - can I recover tunes from the ipod to the Mac?
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPod but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPod with it.

Got a question on mail. We got two e-mail addresses, both different, but messages are picked up from the same server at Vodafone. Received at my iMac I want them to be splitted to two accounts, depending on each e-mail address. How to do this?

IMAP accounts
With IMAP accounts, incoming and outgoing messages are stored on a mail server until you delete them. When your account connects to the server, it’s synced so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server. You can read and manage messages from any device that you use to access your account, and download messages or attachments to work with when you’re not connected to the Internet.
Microsoft Exchange accounts
These accounts are similar to IMAP accounts, in that messages are stored on a mail server and accessible from different computers and locations. You can use flags in an Exchange account with some limitations.
For an Exchange account to be set up in Mail, the Exchange server must support Exchange Web Services (EWS). Contact your server administrator for more information.
POP accounts
With POP accounts, incoming messages are stored on a mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. The messages remain on the server until they’re deleted from the server.

I recently updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7 and since doing this, i cannot get my email messages to stay deleted when I trash them. They have been deleted from the main mail server but show up on my phone. When I trash them, they disappear for a few seconds and then re-appear in the inbox. I tried deleted my mail account from my phone and re-adding it, but this worked for about 12 hours and now its doing it again. I also have shut my phone off and rebooted it but this did not work. How do I fix this?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question. -

You need to purchase iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: iLife '11 - Apple Store (U.S.). iWeb has been discontinued so as long as supplies last you can get it.
It is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:

◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

Is there a way to import photos to the iPad and put in an album without having the photo also in the Camera Roll? I have a photo transfer app but when I import the album and photos they are also shown in the CR. When you delete them from CR they are deleted from the album too.
You can sync photos from your computer via iTunes, and each folder that you sync will get its own album : syncing photos. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next sync.
In terms of albums that you create directly on the iPad no, effectively you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you delete the original photo you will therefore also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could consider a third-party photo management app instead e.g. Photo Manager Pro -
Help - Just received my Micro and don't want to break
I just received my Zen Micro (5GB) and want to know the best way to start using it - without breaking the battery.
I have put in the ZM battery, connected the ZM to the charger, then plugged the charger into the wall and now have turned on the power.
I want to avoid touching it while it charges (even though the manual says you can) - but how do I know if it's charging?
Right now the screen is blank, but every few seconds the ZM lights up, then the light fades out. Do I leave it like this for the next 3 hours?

SSR, Thanks for the suggestion. I followed the steps above... got into rescue mode, selected cleanup, unit said "scanning" and then it shut off. I turned the unit on as normal, got the Creative screen, and water pond screen, "library rebuilding"... system turns itself off. Is this right? The battery if fully charged (as per the battery icon)!
Just to recap, all I have done with the ZM so far is:
) Charge it for 3 hours
2) Play the 3 demo mp3's
3) Tune the radio
4) Enter the owner details
Total use may of been 20 minutes!!
Not very happy!
EDIT: Observation - the screen is blank, but it appears when I push the touchpad it lights up (but the screen remains blank)? So it seems the system is on, but the screen doesn't is blank (or broken)?Message Edited by new2waix on 04-5-2005 02:50 AM -
Just got new air and trying to set up. When I put in my Apple ID and password it comes up with error message 'can't sign in because of server error. Try again signing on.' Trying again does not fix. I know my ID and PW are right as work on other apple devices I have.
