Just replaced my nano with the new itouch. Easiest way to re-sync?

Guys-
I'd like to be able to switch from my Nano to my ipod and simply import all my songs (Apple purchased and cd's and podcasts) from my Nano into my new itouch. What's the easiest way to do this?
Alternatively, can I still keep the same music on both my Nano and my itouch? I mean, I purchased both devices and I purchased my music and it's still on my same pc, right?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
You can certainly sync multiple devices to one iTunes library. iTunes should be able to tell the difference between devices, to maintain differences in name, syncing preferences, etc. When you connect the touch, it should behave similarly to the nano, in that you can have iTunes sync everything in the iTunes library to it for you.

I just "upgraded" my iPhone with the new software. As a low vision person, your phone was always previously helpful. I now discover that I cannot use the phone easily. The font has been changed to a very narrow typeface and the greyscale has been altered to reduce contrast. The background is now grey as well rather than white. The accessibility options permit only three choices. First, increase type size. With the the low greyscale, thin typeface, increasing type size makes it HARDER to read. There is no option for contrast enhancement. Third, the background switch options suffers from the same deficit as the white background. The third choice is to enhance brightness but without the option to change contrast, this is useless. Am I missing something? Can this be fixed? How? When? Are you planning a similar negative "update"/change to other devices?

I am having the same problem. I have gone through every setting, set the bold font, contrast, larger font....everything I could find in any post to try and help - and between the new color scheme that makes it virtually impossible to use the pictures of my grandchildren as background (the picture colors now become the theme colors - which now match the colors of many of the "flat" icons...) I am finding the phone very difficult to use--espeically things like the calendar which has now become very hard to "see" and use. If I can't revert this thing to iOS6, I may have to get a different phone.

  • IPod Nano with the new iTunes 7.0

I have had no problems with my iPod before. Just yesterday I upgraded to itunes 7.0. Now, my computer says I have plugged an "unknown device" into the USB port. I have tried everything I can think of. Since my computer doens't recognize the decice, itunes doesn't either. This means that I can't get new songs on to my iPod. I can't even listen to my songs I already have because my iPod is out of battery and my computer, not recognizing it, won't charge it. My younger brother has the shuffle. He is having no problems. By the way my nano is the first kind that came out and is 2gb. If you are having the same or similar problem, or just know what to do, PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks!

  • HT2292 I recently got a new ipod touch and the new one will not connect to itunes.  I've done all the troubleshooting and now I'm just plain frustrated.  With the new update my old ipod froze and best buy gave me a new one. What to do?

My ipod recenly froze with the last update.  bestbuy gave me a replacement.  the new one will not connect to the computer or itunes.  i followed all the instructions and - nothing.  It's frustrating enough as i lost all my notes and work, but now I can't connect to sync with itunes.  i don't get it.  i'm not a supertech so i don't know what to do. help!!!!!!

Thanks, Bob!  You are correct.  And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE).  One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
    1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind.  Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
    2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers.  Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

  • Problems with the new itouch...

I got the new touch less than a month ago. Now he is not charging or conecting to any computer. I tried mine and a friend's and neither worked. Can this be a problem with the ipod or could it be the cable?

If you have the 5G iPod is could be the cable some users are reported either an initial defective cable or a cable that became defective after a short time.

  • Help with the new itouch update!!!!!!

My itouch has been connected for over 24 hours now and i downloaded the update but its only downloading it half way to my itouch and then stops. I disconnected a few times and restored and tried installing it again, but once again it stops half way and doesn't move at all. So if anyone can help please don't hesitate.

    Give us a chance.
Did you actually wait long enough for the procedure to complete before you unplugged the iPod?
I disconnected a few times and restored and tried installing it again...
My installation took well over an hour, backing up, removing, putting it back and so on.
How do you know that iTunes has stopped the installation, did you see a message, or have you simply been a bit impatient? Don't forget, if you unplug the iPod part way through a procedure such as this, the procedure will almost certainly have to start from scratch next time, not pick up from before.

  • Is the latest update to the 6th gen nano a software download or does it come with the new watch faces and larger icons out of the box

Apple shows the new 6th gen nano with the new selection of watch faces and lager icons etc as per new update, but stores still have the 6th gen nano with just 3 watch faces and smaller icons etc. Is the newer spec just a software update that i do after purchase or does it come updated out of the box?
    Thx

It should come out of the box with the new 1.2 update, but if it doesn't you can simply connect it to iTunes, download, and install the update from there.

  • Ripped music in library disappeared when I replaced original Nano with new iTouch

I had an original 2Gb Nano that Apple replaced with a new 8 Gb iTouch a few months ago.  When I synced the new iTouch with iTunes, all of the ripped music I had in the library that was also on the original Nano disappeared from the library. How do I find this music on my computer (same one I was using with the original Nano) and get it into the iTunes library once again?  Thanks for any assistance!

Ok, it magically came back. :? I really don't know what happened, but I'll leave this topic open for a day in case anyone eles is having a similar situation and someone would be kind enough to come in here and explain either that a) I'm more technologically impaired than the majority of the population under the age of 10 or b) this is a common thing and this is what happened. . .so I don't get ticked off the next time it happens.

  • I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one

I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one?

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format.  It woldn't sync because my movies were HD.  HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod.  Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions.  Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod
