Just set up computer today - Firefox won't stop crashing!

I just recently bought this (refurbished) computer, after having to send back a different refurbished model that ended up having bad sectors. Well, things aren't looking too hopeful, especially with FF's constant crashing. I have no idea WHY it's doing this, but I can be doing anything from searching stuff up to being away from the computer - and without fail, FF crashes. Is there anyone who can help me with this?

No doubt you did discover [[firefox crashes]], unfortunately the Crash IDs do not indicate any easy fixes that I understand.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Firefox won't stop using my hard drive. I've had to start using Chrome.

Firefox won't stop using my hard drive.
I've had to stop using it as it drives me nuts.

    Thanks for that.
It's been behaving itself since I did the 'safe mode' thing.
I suspect it may have been Free Download Manager which is now disabled.
I'll see how it goes for the time being. Things are looking good.
Thanks for all your help, much appreciated! :-)

  • PPro CC14 won't stop crashing and freezing only minutes after editing commences...

I seem to have tried everything to fix the issue but PPro CC14 won't stop crashing and freezing only minutes after editing commences. I am working on a Mac and have just updated to Mavericks as a final attempt to help solve the problem. I have tried calling Adobe but their phone support in Australia is shocking. I have resorted to posting here but haven't had any help yet. I really need to sort this issue out ASAP.

Its it possibly related to your graphics drivers?  Seems similar to something I was experiencing that was resolved by updating my nvida cuda drivers (see thread link).  I also started running activity monitor to keep track of the memory and processor use.  That said after solving the problem by updating my drivers and switching to the CUDA acceleration, on occasion I get into ruts where it opens and freezes all the time.  It does seem helpful to try and reduce project size if possible - I normal keep a track record of sequence revisions and such, but when possible it seems that clearing out as much as possible by deleting or project managing into a new project can help things run better.

  • MBP Safari won't stop crashing

I just bought my MBP today, I transferred my files and applications from my old iBook using the setup assistant.
I then tried to open Safari but it "unexpectedly quits" before it finishes loading every single time. Firefox works fine.
Also have an error message everytime I boot up saying that my Norton Antivirus auto-protect cannot be enabled. If I try to perform LiveUpdate for Norton it freezes the whole system.
I saw on someone else's question that perhaps Symantec (Norton) software might have something to due with my safari problem.
i'd really appreciate some help and not have to go to the genius bar after just buying the dang thing. thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

does safari have any ppc plugins installed? this is quite often the problem.
also i would seriously consider removing the norton software. it is almost impossible to get a virus on a mac unless you are completely careless, and the norton software tends to cause more problems than it solves for macs. it also slows down your computer.

  • Help :( Skype 7.1 won't stop crashing no matter what I try.

Last night I got a msg to update my skype to version 7.1, so I did that and turned off my laptop.
Today I logged on my laptop and logged in Skype, and right after I logged in, not even 30 seconds later, on the home page it comes up with a msg that says "skype has stopped working" and the program closed.
I tried everything on this list to see if I could fix it, https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10382/why-does-skype-for-windows-desktop-crash-my-computer?frompage=search&q=skype%20crashes?q=skype+crashes+on+start+up
There was no problems with my laptop, no viruses, nothing blocking it from working, and no corrupted files or errors. I even tried to install a previous version of Skype, and tried older Skypes, (7.0, 6.9) as well. But nothing has worked so I uninstalled all of it, and put 7.1 back but I still can't get my Skype to stop crashing at startup.
I keep thinking it has to be caused by the Skype 7.1 update because up until I did that, my Skype worked perfectly. I haven't been able to use Skype all day, can someone help please? I don't know what else to try.

  • HT201317 My photostream photos show more then 30 days of photos and have only just set my computer up with the  icloud, is there any way I can get photos on my computer from more then 30 days ago?

My photostream on my iphone shows more then 30 days of photos, however I have recently lost my phone and hadn't set up the icloud on my computer until now. Is there anyway to get all the photos in my photostream on my iphone or just the last 30 days?

If you backed up the iPod before restoring it then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
Also, if yoo have that backup you can extract the photos by:

If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • When downloading Firefox, the second time I click run I do not get the set up wizard and Firefox won't install on my PC. Why?

When I first click download and run, It takes about 2.5 minutes to download the program. It then prompts me to click run again, but this time instead of taking me to the Wizard as it says it will, it processes for about 2 seconds and all prompts go away without installing Firefox.

    Hi sahgin,
The issue eventually resolved itself, I still don't really know why. I kept up with Windows update, and attempted downloading iTunes again from the Apple website, and it just... worked. It now works fine. I don't know why it took approximately 4 months to work, though.
I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. Posting here was my last resort, and clearly Apple never bothered to reply.

  • Firefox won't stop running unless I go into task manager and end process

when I shut down firefox and then later try to start it again a box comes up that says it is already running but it won't come on. So I have to go into my task manager and end the process before I can start it again. How do I solve this problem?

That is "hanging at exit". You can ignore the first part, since you already know how to do that.
    * How to stop the running Firefox process
** In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the '''<u>Processes</u>''' tab?

    ***See:

    ****http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
***Firefox 4 users, hold the Shift key while clicking the Firefox 4 desktop icon to enter Safe Mode.
***Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox.
****In Firefox 4, Safe Mode also disables Plugins and Hardware Acceleration.
****If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes '''<u>before</u>''' starting Safe Mode (In Firefox 4, Tools > Add-ons > Appearance). See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using%20themes%20with%20Firefox#w_managing-themes-and-personas
****When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode".
****Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
*** If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it
***#by enabling '''<u>one at a time</u>''' until the problem reappears.
***#You can also enable a few at a time (3-5), keeping track of what you just re-enabled to see if the problem re-occurs; this will help narrow down the possibilities if you have a large number of add-ons.
***#'''<u>You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change</u>''' via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit).
***#You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Each time I upgrade, Firefox won't stop asking to be default browser

Each time I upgrade to the newest version, Firefox asks if I want it to be my default browser, and invites me to take the tour. I check the box to stop asking me, but it continues asking each time I open, and the invitation to the tour never goes away. These are so annoying I only use Firefox for one web site I use to grade college students an online course I teach. Windows 8.1
Thanks and regards, and happy holidays!

  • Firefox won't open, crash reports sent

I've been using FF for years. A few weeks after upgrading to 4 from 3.1.16 it would not open - the CrashReporter sent several reports.
I went through all the listed possible fixes and nothing works.

I should add that I reverted from 4 to 3.1.16 (this is on another machine, obviously) and it won't work as it did, either.
And that it stopped working at the first startup attempt after shutting that computer down overnight when it had been working fine.

  • Firefox won't stop scrolling with trackpad MacOS 10.6.4

I am noticing that if I scroll with two fingers or accidentally touch the trackpad with another digit, then remove it, firefox often doesn't recognize when I have gone back to mousing with one finger on the track pad. Or if I click on the scroll bar, it suddenly transitions into scrolling with the trackpad, and when I try to mouse to another area of the screen it insists on continually scrolling. It has done this at least once per session since i last updated. I think I had to click somewhere to break the thing's 'trance' :-) and then it would go back to normal function for a while.

  • I updated my iPod Touch, and now the App Store won't stop crashing?

I just got a new update for my iPod touch. I had to delete a few apps to make space. Then, I proceeded downloading. I have the 4th generation and my iPod is about 6 months old (I had to get another one from my warranty because my other one got broken) Now, whenever I click on the App Store, it starts to load, and then it crashes. What do I do?

You might try clearing all the apps out of the recently used apps menu, or doing a two-finger reset (home and lock buttons until you see the Apple logo on the screen). I've seen similar posts that were resolved by doing that, but it hasn't worked for me. If you figure it out, I'd definitely be interested.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and see if you can create a new, test library. If iPhoto can create a new libary then your current library is the culprit. In that case do the following:  make a temporary, backup copy of the library if you don't already have one  (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
It you can't create a new library it's an application issue or a system/user account issue.  To see which log into another user account on the Mac and try launching iPhoto.
If iPhoto works there then the prolem is with your account so post back with the results for further possible fixes.
If iPhoto doesn't work then it's either an applicartion problem or a system problem. In that case I'd first try reinstalling iPhoto before the system.

  • My 21.5 inch 2010 iMac won't stop crashing and rebooting when I put in my 8GB 1 piece Kingston RAMstick

I have the 21.5 inch 2010 iMac and I bought this Kingston 8GB 1 piece Ramstick (http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1333MHz-KTA-MB1333-8G/dp/B007TGZ4UY/re f=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1401114006&sr=8-7&keywords=iMac+1333Mhz+RAM) and when I put it in my Mac, and I start up my Mac, it crashes and reboots itself. Then it happens over and over again. No matter what I do. Anyone have a solution?

If it is Kingston ValueRAM, that product has been troublesome since Intel Macs were introduced in 2006.
