Just some info on a new connection please?

I have moved house and decided to go with BT for my broadband. I plugged in my route about an hour ago for the first time. I was pleasently shocked to be connected at 7000kbps as I have aways lived so far from an exchange in the past that my highest speed has always been around 2000kbps hehe.
So I fired up a game I often play and it needed patching but the download was only at 235kbps I at first thought it there server being slow and decided to do a BT speedtest here are the results.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1925 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 800-2000 Kbps.

I know there is a training period for the Line and exchange. I'm just concerned why it set the profile so low. Can anyone elxplain why and put my mind at rest hehe. I moved from an ISP that gave me a solid 3 years of decent connecition and im just worried about the switch over to BT. My BT homehub settings are.

I was just comming up on day 5 of constant connection at 7616kbps and then the sync dropped. it only dropped for about 30 seconds and reconnected at the same speed and stats.

IPhone 4, Flip leather case and the 'Compass' app..just some info

Hello Members, and anyone new to the iPhone 4 with a 'Flip' type case that has a magnetic clasp.
I had just got my new Iphone 4, and after fully updating it to iOS 4.1, I'd successfully managed to fix the screen protector that came with the all 'leather' flip case, and proceeded to slide the Iphone into it's new luxury coat closing it securely.
Leaving it while, and then coming back to my Iphone, I started to explore the device and went straight for the 'compass' app, just to see it working....
I notice it wasn't operating correctly, the app would either be really difficult to calibrate, and when it did, the pointer would not be stable and jerked around a lot.
Anyway...I found the 'flip' case to have been a bad choice purely because of a design flaw, see the phone kept wanting to slide out as I would use it, so off I went to buy another one.
I settled for one which was made of plastic, it was a black 'enclosure' type and even included the screen protector built into it, so no having to mess about with sticky thin films either..great, just snap the two half's together...job done!
Again, back at home and in the same location, I again started to explore the iPhone going from browser to app, and again fell back onto the 'compass' application, only this time it worked flawlessly, no having to 'calibrate' and re-calibrate, no jerking from the pointer, it worked smoothly and faultlessly, and then it had occurred to me as to why this might be.....?
The Iphone's directional tech is influenced by magnetic fields, regardless of whether it's 'geographic' north or 'magnetic' north, and was being influenced by the magnet that was contained in the clasp of the leather 'flip' case, I new this could only be the possible reasoning, as I'd been trying to get the 'app' to work all the time even when I'd crossed my local park while still in the 'flip' case on my way to the store, with always the same bad results, it was only when the Iphone was in it's new case did the compass app work correctly.
So, just a consideration to any new users of the iPhone 4, that's using a case that's got any kind of magnet, and that's having the same issues that I suffered, remember to 'calibrate' and try the 'compass' application out of these type's of case's before thinking there's a software problem, or fault with your Iphone4.

A review and some info on the new iPod Video

I just got mine yesterday (60gb). It is fantastic. I have nothing bad to say. I loaded all my music, pictures and calendar data. I bought a TV show, downloaded a free Video Podcast, bought a Pixar short video, and a Music video. The quality of the picture is nothing short of amazing. Everyone who sees it is very impressed. I have a whole row of folks where I work that have one iPod or another, and they all needed their drool-cups changed while looking at this new addition from Apple. Well done Steve!

I have noticed the same thing. No different from any other discussion group. But you take the bad with the good, right? Anyway, I DO love my new 5G, and I know there are so many of us out there that are really curious about the new iPod. Isn't that what any company wants? Buzz about their new product? Good buzz about the 5G is well deserved, regardless of any short comings. I have been having SOME difficulty understanding what is appropriate and NOT appropriate to say in this discussion group. Can not see the schema under the new connection -- Please help

The database is Oracle. Recently I requested our DBA to do a database refresh, and here was she did.
1. Drop the user (TDEV, schema owner) in Dev.
2. Recreate the user, TDEV, with the same password, roles and tablespaces.
3. Using Oracle export command to export data from production under schema owner, TPROD.
4. Using Oracle import command to import the dump file from TPROD to TDEV.
5. Both export and import were successful.
Dev and Production are in two different databases.
After the importing, using SQL*PLUS I logged into Dev database as schema owner "TDEV", and were able to select all tables. I also verified there was no schema or user called TPROD in Dev database, and there is no TDEV in Production database.
However, in Crystal Report, both 10 and XI, when I made the new ODBC (RDO) connection to Dev DSN and logged in as the schema owner user "TDEV", I noticed there is TPROD listed below, but no TDEV. I tried to select the tables listed underneath TPROD, and got the following error message: "Query Engine Error: '42S02:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-00942: table or view doesn't exist'"
Any ideas or helps are welcome!!

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Can I move the OS X boot disk from a core 2 duo mini to a new i5 mini and have it boot and run normally? Some info suggests I can.

I have a 2.53ghz core 2 duo mac mini. I just purchased an i5 2.5ghz mac mini (with amd 6630m graphics).
Can I simply ermove the OS X boot disk from the core 2 duo mini and put it into the i5 mini and have the it boot up and run fine?
Some info I read suggests I can do this and it should be no problem and will work fine.
I am running 10.9.3 of OS X.

- Boot the old one in Recovery
OS X: About OS X Recovery
and then uses disk utility to restore the HD on the new computer from the starup disk of the old one.
You could also boot the old one normally, download SuperDuper and the clone the old one's startup disk to the new one.

Does the iOS devices see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I did not use ICloud or any storage and did not make any sync before.

Your photos are gone. They were wiped when you restored your phone. There is no "trash can".
You obviously don't understand how to use the iPhone properly. Attached is a link to the iPhone User guide. I suggest you read through it to avoid data loss in the future.

Yoga 10 HD+ OTA update- please provide some info

Today I saw a new uodate for my Yoga HD+. The size is approx. 70Mb, after the update (I accepted it) I still have 4.4.2 Android version, same as before the update. Can I ask for more info what was the target for this update and what changes in the system it suppose to make?
Actually, I'd like to read this info BEFORE the update goes to OTA, so I will have some idea what to expect, but it did not happen... Please provide some info now, if possible. The line on screen was about some fixes and new features. Hope tech support has this information.

Have you talked to your carrier to confirm the unlock?
What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup.

Just some info on a new connection please?
