Just Speculating Out Loud

I'm simply thinking to myself about possible futures for
Director and its functionality, and wanted to throw out the
following in the form of a wildly speculative question: Is there
any chance Director might be able to refashion itself and/or its
Xtra plug-in architecture so as to use the forthcoming Apollo
universal client as a projector? I'm thinking that the convergence
of content handling capabilities might really be hugely powerful.
Just food for thought - I don't expect to hear any answers at
this time. But I'd be curious whether anyone else thinks this is
even plausible or not.

That happened to me the first time too! I realized that I hadn't pushed the earphone plug in far enough. Felt like it had gone in all the way, but it hadn't. Sounds crazy, I know, but try pushing the plug in further. Worked for me, might for you too.

  • I just bought a Mac today and have never had one, my Itunes shows to have all of my music on it but it won't allow me to play it out loud, it says my computer is not authorized? what does this mean?

I'm a first time Mac user and I went to play my music on Itunes out loud and all the music I previously purchased will not play and then a pop up appears saying my computer is not authorized? what does this mean and how can I fix it?

You need to authorize the new computer that youre working with. First hover over the store button at the top of the screen and then select the authorize this computer button then a popup will appear where you have to put in your Apple ID and Password. Hopefully this works for you

  • Be able to Read Out Loud text, not just form fields

I am trying to develop an accessible form that has at its end the following statement:
"I hereby certify that all statements on this application are true and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that false statements on pre-employment materials constitute fraud in securing employment and is basis for dismissal."
This statement needs to be able to be Read Out Loud by a Screen Reader.
I started outlining the form in Microsoft Word and then brought it into LiveCycle. The PDF Structure shows the text but the Hierarchy does not. From my experiments, only the Hierarchy is Read by a Screen Reader.
    So,
    1) How to make the certification be read out loud?
    2) How to alert users of Screen Readers that there also is a Signature line to fill out? They need to sign and date the form.
Thanks for any help you may give. BTW, I am using LiveCycle 8.

In Designer you can indicate what needs to be read for specific fields. Under the Window menu there is an Accessability palette that needs to be enabled. Once this is done you can enter Custom screen Reader text to be read. I woudl attach this to the last field on the form.

  • I just found out I can't install my MXP extensions

I really would like to wrtie something useful and meaningful, and maybe even ask a question or two. But I apologize in advance if it just turns out to be a rant. There's a bigger picture here, and that involves the overall direction the internet has taken in the last few years. Ok, I do have a question, but let me rant just a little first.
I recently went from CS4 to Creative Cloud. Inbetween, I tried out a few trial versions of CS products, and all was fine with my extensions. I now have several CC apps installed, time to start working again, only to find out the whole MXP issue. It didn't take long to find out what I have to do, so that shoulnd't be a problem. But then again, I won't know for sure until I actually attempt converting and installling the extensions.
This practice of updating and upgrading that force us into additional purchases - both hardware and software is just out of control. It's all under the guide of providing a better overall experience, and I can go along with that to a degree.
So the first question requires speculation - when it comes to this change to the new extension format - WHY?? And if there is a way to convert an MXP, why isn't that just built into the CC extension manager?
The second question is more philosophical. What is the correct attutude a developer supposed to adopt? I know that we have to use the tools we've been given, or find something else to do. But we don't really have any options, especially when it comes to web development, and especially for those who do rely on extensions.
It also used to be, just stay with the older version if upgrading is impractical or unaffordale. But that''s that even possible any more. CS4 has barely any support for HTML5, and without that, may as well hang it up.
I know I sound like just another complainer, and for now I am - but I'm just one small voice is a larger chorus. It used to be all about Microsoft. Now it's Adove, and, yes, even Apple are targets. I read te blogs ad forums, and I know I'm not alone. But with all those voices out there, nothing changes. Wait, that's not right - it does change - for the worse.
Part two of the second question - does anyone know of any issue that anyone of these big companies have responded to because of some sort of consumer or user activism, suggestions, anything other than legislation?  I don't know of a single instance.
    Sorry, and thanks.

Ben, I appreciate your honesty and help.
For the sake of clarity, I would like to mention that during my seeking and finding I've yet to find the specifics on why the file formates were changed, other than the ZXP format has the capability of including more features.
Also, while the major extension providers have upgraded their products to ZXP versions, some of them are paid upgrades and part of bundles, so it can get a little pricey. The extensions will convert successfully, but get the database error during install in EM CC. Even with that, they still show up in DW CC and function properly, except perhaps for one or two of the features. Hopefully, when I do purchase the compatbile extension, I"ll be able to install it, as the one I installed doesn't display in the EM and therefore doesn't provide a way to uninstall!
On the other side of the coin, I've converted some extensions, and installed them without a hitch, they show up in DW but just don't work at all.

  • Read out loud does not work on Adobe Reader XI.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Does anyone know how to repair the Read Out Loud problem with Adobe Reader XI?

    Hi thomash,
Are you running into this problem with all PDFs, or just a select few? If the PDF was created from a scan, and OCR wasn't performed (so there's no "live" text), then there wouldn't be anything to read aloud.
If the issue occurs regardless of the PDF you have open, has anything changed on your system since Read Out Loud worked for you?
    Best,
    Sara

  • Adobe Reader's Read Out Loud is glitched.

When I use the r-o-l feature to read my textbooks, the program does not read words with the letter "F" in them correctly.  At first, I believed it was just something weird with the book I was attempting to have it read, so I changed it.  But now I've bought a completely different computer, and have a new class with new text books, and it's still doing it.  For example, the word fire.  It'll read fee-are-ee.  Influence is pronounced in-flamabluence.  Flesh is 'florida-esh'.  It's highly distracting, and I don't know what to do about it.  Any suggestions?
I am using Windows 8, on a pc.
    Best,
    Dawn

I do not have Reader installed, but in Acrobat, there is a Read Out Loud menu item under the View menu.

  • Read Out Loud Not working in Adobe Reader XI

Read Out Loud is not working.  I have selected the the Microsoft Anna voice in preferences. I have selected the recommended "infer order from doc".  I am at a loss to know why it does not work.  I am using MS Office Professional 2013.  Please help if you can.

Are you sure that the pdf you have isn't a scan? If so, that's just a picture of text so there is nothing to be read.

Is this a clue? I'm not sure how this fits in.

  • I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud

I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud option in Acrobat. Kindly help me to sortout this problems?

So I tried generating the same PDFs on two other computers that have Acrobat 9 Pro.  Results were reproduced.  The verdict is:
    - complex PDF files (that is, containing cross-references, tables of contents, and bookmarks) generated by Acrobat 9.x Pro are roughly 2-5x larger than the identical file generated with Acrobat 8.x Pro.
    - different PDF conversion settings make a negligable difference (less than 10% rather than 70-80%).
    - using the "Reduce File Size" or "Optimize PDF" option cuts the file size roughly in half, almost always resulting in a "image downsampling mask" warning message, which requires acknowledgement (that is a problem for batch processing or automation).
    - adding an Acrobat watermark to the file cuts the file size roughly in half.
    - just using Save As to another filename has no effect on file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 with links but no PDF bookmarks still results in the inflated file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 without any links or bookmarks results in approximately the same file size as the Acrobat 8 PDF with full links and bookmarks.
It appears that Acrobat 9's manner of adding links is what's bloating  the files, and in my case it's probably not related to images or image resolution/print quality.  It's a shame, because Acrobat 9 seems to have made some  improvements to the Review Tracker interface, and a few other bells and  whistles which I haven't really gotten around to exporing yet.  But  unless I find a way to keep my links and the PDF file sizes comparable to what I was  getting with Acrobat 8 Pro, it looks like I'm going to stay with Acrobat 8.

  • How can I get read out loud to work on MAC for adobe reader?

Having trouble getting the read out loud function to work on MAC.  It keeps says "BLANK" or "Warning Page Empty".  How can i get this resolved my the read out loud function to work properly?

    That depends.
First, be sure the pdf isn't just scanned images. Can you select individual words with the select tool? If not, you would need to use a tool to run OCR before it can be read.

  • TS1630 I can't hear music through earphones on  my iphone--it plays out loud

how do I get music to play through headphones on my iphone.  The music plays out loud but not through the headset

Are you using a case for you iphone?  if you are as a test remove the case and plug jack in and see if the headphones work.  if it does work, just make sure you have the jack plugged in all the way when the case is on.

  • The volume on my iPhone 5c is really low when playing music out loud.

When I am playing music out loud it is far too quiet. It is actually louder when I put headphones in without putting them in my hear than when I just play music out loud. What could be wrong? It's really annoying me.

    Hello, asialeighx.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand you are experiencing an issue with the sound volume on your iPhone speakers.  Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would go through for this issue.
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

  • Can the Read Out Loud tool read tooltips?

    Hello,
I have created a PDF with a text form field where the user will enter his/her name and then print a course completion certificate.  I have named the text form field and added a tooltip.
    1.  It looks fine in Form Edit mode but there is text that looks like it's behind the tool tip.  It is different words than the tooltip and larger font size.  I can't remember how I got that text there.  I just wanted to edit it a little bit but can't find where to do so.  Any suggestions?
    2.  I have made this form accessibile but is there a way to have the Read Out Loud tool actually read the tooltips?
    3.  Also, how do I add a screen shot to this discussion?
    Thanks!

    Any suggestions on this one?
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Read Out Loud feature not working

Anyone else run into this.  We activate it, it scans the document looking for tags, then does not read it.  Any ideas?

    Hey there hdilios,
Just been trying to sort this one out myself, I noticed that you tried re-installing Adobe Reader with the same result.
Could it be that, when you installed the first time / updated and then re-installed, Adobe Reader Protected Mode was automatically re-applied by default. Read Out Loud will not function while in Protected Mode.
You must disable it to hear Read Out Loud document reader, it is quite safe to disable this additional security function, and the only way to make it work.
To disable Adobe Reader XI Protected Mode
    - Open Adobe Reader
    - Click menu item Edit
    - Select Preferences
    - Preference panel opens
    - Select Security (Enhanced) in Categories list
    - Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
    - Dialog opens Click Yes
    - Close Preferences
    - Close/Restart Adobe Reader
    - Open a document you wish to read
    - Activate Read Out Loud
    - Choose Option to read Page or Whole Document
    - or setup for Reading with the Accessability Assistant.
Hope this is the answer you are looking for, my Read Out Loud feature is functioning fine now it had me baffled for a while, thought my sound card was malfunctioning.
    Cheers Jethro

  • Read Out Loud Accessibility

I am not able to use "read out loud" for a pdf book file.  I get this error "Read out loud cannot be activated for this document because it's permissions do not allow for content copying for accessibility." I checked under document restrictions and this is true.  I know this is a way to prevent unauthorized copying but I travel a lot on planes and being able to use read out load is a great feature.  I do not want to violate copywrites, just read the pdf book versus the hardcopy, I legally purchased both.
Is there a solution for me?
    Thanks Ahead of Time

You will need to ask the provider of the PDF if an alternate PDF, having no restriction on content copy for accessibility is available.
    Be well...

  • Feedback for Reader-Read Out Loud

For Adobe, I am surprised at the low level of quality of Adobe Reaader-Read Out Loud.  It cannot pronounce simple words and sounds so robotic as to make the feature painful to use.  Why read page headers instead of continuing with a paragraph?  Why read a paragraph full of references?  Why no option to skip sections of a page? I could go on, but I will just say that it is obvious that Adobe cares little for this program.  Come on Adobe, you can do way better than this.

I got the MSVCP50.dll file from a friend.  I'm not sure this was necessary, though.
However I picked up this post from another discussion:
“I thought to set my preference to a very slow speed (which I learned can't be less than 150 words a minute) and I also changed the voice to a Microsoft voice (SanSoft voices were the other choices). When I tried again, it worked. I don't know if it was the speed or the voice or both, but I never would have considered those if I hadn't been aware of the bar. It must have shown before but it was so quick and I wasn't looking for it that I must have missed it.”
I also hadn’t noticed the bar at the bottom, which is only there for a split second, and I’m not sure what significance that had.  But by changing my preferences (Edit/Preferences/ Reading) from the default, it seemed to kick the function into action.  The volume is still very low, though, even with all the volume slide controls on max.
    But progress anyway!
