Just switched to Iphone from blackberry yesterday
Everyone told me when you delete e-mail from iphone it still shows up on your desktop. I am finding this not to be the case. I deleted some items last night and today they are not on my desktop, On the blackberry it asks you if you want to delete desktop and handheld device or just handheld device, does the Iphone have this option?
It should, but you have to make sure it is set up in iCloud that way. Provided that you use iCloud e-mail on your new iPhone....

Different providers behave different way.
In general, if you use IMAP e-mail, whatever happens on your phone happens on your desktop and on the server all at the same time (with a bit of delay) - they all should be in sync.
Whether a message remains in Trash or goes away for good needs to be set up on the server (Yahoo, GMail, iCloud, AOL). You don't set it up on your phone.
I know, that if I uncheck the box for storing deleted messages in iCloud, they vanish after I delete them and bypass Trash altogether.

Well, I think I know why the rules are not working. The alias mailbox is being listed as another mail folder and not as an actual inbox so the rules are not being applied. While I wish the rules would work, I will continue to manually mark some of the emails as spam.
As for the second issue with emails vanishing, I am waiting to see if it happens again. I think it must happen when it is syncing the data but I am not sure that it happens all the time. Today the previous emails seem to be their and it grabbed the new email so I don't know what happened with the vanishing email. Anyway this can be closed since I believe the main issue has been solved as being a setup issue with Yahoo alias email account. -
I've just upgraded my iPhone from ios3 to ios6 and it has taken my phone back in time. My most recent photos and messages are dated from a year ago. My music is fine, just messages and photos are gone. HELP?
Restore the device using the most recent backup.
If you have not backed up the device recently, then there is nothing to restore. -
I just restored my iPhone from a backup, and 17 apps couldn't be restored because "the app could not be found." But they're sitting right there in iTunes under Apps. What's up with that?

I have an iPhone 5SYou restore from the backup that contained them.
Restoring from a backup is all or nothing. It completely overwrites the data in the phone when you restore. You can not combine the contents of a backup with what's currently on your phone. -

I just switched to Lion from SL, and am regretting it deeply, is there anyway to switch back to SL but still keep lion on your hard drive until you want it again?

To resize the drive do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Install Snow Leopard on the new partition:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Be sure to choose your new partition as the target destination.
Download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Any additional updates can be installed using Software Update. -
Just restored my iPhone 5 from iCloud. My wife and I have always shared one iCloud ID. But since my restore, when a call comes in, it rings on both my phone and hers. How can I make this stop? We had it all set up fine before the restore, and there was a trick to it in the settings. I've noticed that since my restore, her phone has picked up what looks like the symbol of a phone in the upper right corner of the display, right next to the Bluetooth symbol.

It sounds like your iPhones may be using a new feature in iOS 8 called Continuity. The following article and information explains how to set up this feature for phone calls. You can review the information on the setup to reverse this effect. My suggestion would be to turn off FaceTime on one of the devices.

Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.

Need help switching my iphone from pc itunes to mac itunes
I just purchased a iMac10 and I have been able to get all of my iTunes content from my previous HP but when I try to connect my iPhone to the Mac, it gives me a pop-up stating the iPhone requires v9.2 and will not work with the Mac iTunes. Anyone got any ideas?

Just switched to Verizon FIOS Ultimate yesterday...already have concerns
I am a long time subscriber from one of Verizon's satellite competitors (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say which one). I signed up for the 2 year contract on the Ultimate Triple Play bundle and had it installed yesterday. The internet and the phone work flawlessly, but I already have some concerns about FIOS tv.
Coming from a different service provider, I was expecting there to be some differences (some better and some worse). However, some of the negative differences are really bothering me. I'm hoping someone can help me fix these issues.
1. THE GUIDE - My old service allowed me to hide SD content in the guide if an HD channel was available. Why would I want to watch the same show in SD? The old guide also grayed out channels I wasn't subscribed to. The Verizon guide shows me everything, as if it's available, and then tells me to order it when I click the channel. There doesn't seem to be any indicator that I'm not subscribed to a channel before I choose it. Any solutions for this?
2. SD vs. HD Channels - I honestly do not understand why the SD and HD channels are separated by 500 channels. My kids like to watch the kid channels, and they used to just channel up and down in that range. Now, they have to jump from 250 all the way to 770 if they want to catch the 3 HD kids channels. Our old service had more of their channels in HD and they were all (SD and HD) in one place. I guess there's no workaround for this one unless you can scroll through favorites (maybe?). The same is true for my wife and I. We tend to scroll through a range until we find something we want to watch. I'm either going to scroll through the HD channels or the SD channels, but not both. If I decide to scroll through HD programming, how many channels am I passing up on because they're not listed in the same place?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to try to make this work, but I still consider myself on a 30 day TRIAL if the experience proves too painful.You have the option to view only HD stations in the guide. You can also have a view only the channels you subscribe to

First, this only works if you have the new 1.9 Guide. If you still have 1.8, you will have to wait.
Go to Menu, Settings, Television, and then you will see something like "Last Viewed Guide State" all the way near the bottom. Click on enable.
Then, go into Guide, hit Options, select "Subscribed," and your Guide view will stay on subscribed channels. You won't have to use Favorites again. It will stay on subscribed until you change it to something else. For instance, if you do hit the Favorites button, you will get your Favorites channels in the Guide menu. Then, you will have to go back in and select Subscribed channels. You can also set it to only view HD channels and other selections. It is up to you. With subscribed channels, you will still see PPV channels and such because you do still have the ability to purchase movies and events from those channels, but it will block out the channels that are not in your tier or that you don't pay for like HBO, Cinemax, etc. -
